UN’s Latest Climate Agenda Sparks Alarms Over Online Censorship

The United Nations (UN) is engaging in yet another effort that can easily slip into a tool for “bolstering” online censorship.

Earlier in the week the Global Initiative for Information Integrity on Climate Change was launched during a G20 Summit.

This adds to a convoluted list of various UN-driven treaties, initiatives, and goals – and here the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has found a partner in Brazil’s authorities.

Those behind the document say it’s there to help combat climate change disinformation and take aim at social media in particular. If UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay is to be believed, this type of “disinformation” is “running rampant” on the internet.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who addressed the summit, also contributed to building the dramatic and alarmist narrative around both issues – climate, and “disinformation” – when he, in a social media post, complained about “coordinated disinformation campaigns impeding global progress on climate change.”

So far, the countries that have joined include Chile, Denmark, France, Morocco, Sweden, and the UK. They will collectively contribute to the UN raising $10–$15 million to fund “research and awareness campaigns” but also advocacy groups, and what’s referred to as communication strategies to help achieve the initiative’s goals.

Haaretz: Israelis Don't Have The Right To Condemn Netanyahu's Arrest Warrant | Opinion | Gideon Levy

All Israelis who are insulted, shocked or in turmoil over the issuing of arrest warrants against Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant are disqualified from testifying.

All Israelis who besmirch the International Criminal Court in The Hague are disqualified from giving testimony. All the Israelis who cry "antisemitism" are banned from testifying. In fact, almost all Israelis are precluded from bearing witness.

After all, what did they see of Gaza over the last year? What clue do they have of what is being done there in their name? How much destruction have they been exposed to and how many shattered bodies of children have they seen? How many times have they seen the leveled hospitals and the demolished schools that became shelters, only to be bombed in their turn?

Did they see the face of a hungry child, the transfer convoys, the wheelchairs and amputees plodding across the sand? What notion do they have of the crimes taking place there?

One cannot adopt a shocked pose without seeing what Israel has done to Gaza. Israelis have seen nothing and didn't want to. That's why they have no right to pass judgment on the arrest warrants. In its most pathetic hour ever, the Israeli media helped them not to see a thing, not to know or feel, which is why Israelis cannot give testimony. What they know of Gaza is akin to what they knew about Rwanda at the time, which is why they cannot pass any moral judgment.

After so many years of brainwashing and dehumanization of the Palestinians, one cannot rely on the judiciousness of Israelis. This should be left to the judges in The Hague, who know more than Israelis do what is permitted and what is forbidden, even for Israel, even for Jews after the Holocaust, even for Israelis after October 7. People who doubt the justice of the court and call for its undermining are like the people trying to perpetrate a judicial coup in Israel while trying to subvert its judicial system.

The judge is not a SOB. Neither is the prosecutor. They are merely fulfilling their roles. When Israel unanimously condemns the court's ruling, across the board, from Itamar Ben-Gvir to Yair Golan, including opposition leader Yair Lapid, it proves yet again how brainwashed Israelis are and how disqualified from testifying.

Two Undersea Cables In Baltic Sea Disrupted, Sparking Warnings Of Possible ‘Hybrid Warfare’

Two undersea internet cables in the Baltic Sea have been suddenly disrupted, according to local telecommunications companies, amid fresh warnings of possible Russian interference with global undersea infrastructure.

A communications cable between Lithuania and Sweden was cut on Sunday morning around 10:00 a.m. local time, a spokesperson from telecommunications company Telia Lithuania confirmed to CNN.

The U.S. has detected an increase in Russian military activity around deep sea telecommunications cables, and believes the Kremlin could be directing operations to disable them. Jim Sciutto has details in an exclusive CNN investigation.

The company’s monitoring systems could tell there was a cut due to the traffic disruption, and that the cause was likely physical damage to the cable itself, Telia Lithuania spokesperson Audrius Stasiulaitis told CNN. “We can confirm that the internet traffic disruption was not caused by equipment failure but by physical damage to the fiber optic cable.”

Haaretz: Satellite Photos Show: Gaza's Largest Refugee Camp in Near-total Ruins

The photos show a devastated Jabalya, with the Israeli military appearing to be systematically leveling what buildings remain

The refugee camp thought to be Gaza's largest has been almost totally destroyed by Israeli military activity, recently published satellite photos of Jabalya showed. The humanitarian situation in the refugee camp located in northern Gaza continues to deteriorate.

The photos indicate that the area, where more than 116,000 refugees lived in very crowded conditions, is no longer habitable, showing tens of thousands of homes destroyed or heavily damaged and essential infrastructure in ruins.

Satellite pictures from last month showed shelters for the displaced between buildings, which are now gone. Accompanying the obliteration of Jabalya's houses has been the area's transformation into a virtual enclave of the military, which seems to be systematically flattening what buildings remain.
Political and defense establishment officials say that telling residents of northern Gaza, including Jabalya, to evacuate isn't part of the "Generals' Plan" to impose a total siege on the area and expel all its civilians. Defense officials say that the military is now engaged in emptying cities and villages of their inhabitants, however.

According to Gazans still in the area or who were able to return for a short time, the refugee camp has recently experienced unprecedented levels of destruction and loss of life. During the most recent Israeli attacks, hundreds of complexes consisting of dozens of homes each were destroyed. Also destroyed were schools and medical centers. Essential infrastructure for water, electricity and sanitation is no longer functioning.
