Short On Troops, Israel Turns To Mercenaries — 11/12

Protracted and unprecedented Arab resistance has depleted Israeli troop and reservist forces and forced Tel Aviv to seek out unconventional methods – including the recruitment of foreign mercenaries – to sustain Israel's weary military and escalatory war goals.

Facing increasing domestic pressure to reveal the true extent of their military losses in Gaza and Lebanon, Israeli officials have released figures that are likely to only reveal minimal numbers. The data claims that since the beginning of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on 7 October 2023, around 12,000 soldiers and officers have been injured or forced into rehabilitation under the occupation state’s Ministry of Defense.

This includes 910 wounded during what Israel calls a "limited ground maneuver" launched by Tel Aviv on the Lebanese border, in addition to the deaths of over 760 officers and soldiers and 140 left completely disabled. These admissions, although selective, have stirred growing skepticism within Israeli society, already at its most politically divided since the inception of the state in 1948.

The struggle to maintain power

Following the sacking of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, questions are mounting: how does Israel plan to sustain its fighting force amidst the Lebanese resistance's deadly daily attacks on them?

Opposition against compulsory military service from religious groups, particularly the Haredim, has compounded the army's challenges – so has the removal of Gallant, an army dropout rate soaring above 17 percent, a wave of reverse immigration that has reached one million people in a single year, the highest since 1948, and increasing reluctance among shell-shocked reservists to return to the horror of battlefields in Gaza and the Lebanese border.

❗️ According to Israel's Channel 12, reports show that one in five Israeli hotels have stopped operating since 7 October, 2023. So far, 90 hotels have closed down, with 20% of the remaining hotels being inactive. Report: Biden Allows Ukraine To Strike Russia With Long-Range US Missiles

Putin has made clear that US-supported long-range strikes in Russia would risk nuclear war

The New York Times reported on Sunday that President Biden had authorized Ukraine’s use of long-range US-provided missiles in strikes on Russian territory, an escalation Moscow has made clear risks nuclear w ar.

US officials told the paper that Ukraine can now use Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), which have a range of up to 190 miles, to strike Russian territory. The ATACMS are fired by US-made multiple rocket launch systems, including the HIMARS. Ukraine can only fire the HIMARS with coordinates provided by or confirmed by the US and its allies , meaning the US will now directly support strikes deep inside Russia.

The US officials said the ATACMS will likely initially be used to hit Russian troops fighting against Ukrainian forces in Russia’s Kursk Oblast. Ukraine and the US have also said North Korean troops are deployed in Kursk. The US has said the North Korean troops are engaged in combat, but that hasn’t been confirmed by Moscow .

Earlier this year, President Biden gave Ukraine the greenlight to strike Russian border regions with US-provided weapons, including shorter-range rockets fired by the HIMARS. A few months later, Ukraine launched its invasion of Kursk, and Ukrainian officials began pushing hard for the US to support longer-range strikes inside Russia.

In response to those calls and comments from Western officials supporting the idea, Russian President Vladimir Putin said if NATO supported long-range strikes in Russia , it would put the Western military alliance “at war with Russia.”

In announcing Mike Huckabee as his pick for U.S. ambassador to Israel, President-elect Donald Trump wrote that Huckabee "loves Israel, and the people of Israel, and likewise, the people of Israel love him. Mike will work tirelessly to bring about Peace in the Middle East."

Huckabee, a devout Evangelical Christian who was formerly Governor of Arkansas and ran twice for the Republican nomination for the U.S. presidency, says he's visited Israel and the West Bank "dozens and dozens of times," and describes his connection as "not so much political as it is visceral, personal."

As a staunch proponent of annexation, with close relations over decades with Israeli settlers and the Yesha Council, the umbrella organization of West Bank Jewish settlements, he has been explicit about what that "visceral" connection to Greater Israel means, as well as his skepticism about the national aspirations of what he habitually refers to as the "so-called Palestinians."

Huckabee, a frequent guest on a podcast produced by the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews organization called "Nourish Your Biblical Roots," called for using "biblical language" when speaking about Israel in an episode recorded in February.

"When people use the term 'occupy,'" Huckabee said, "I say, yeah, Israel is occupying the land, but it is an occupation of land that God gave them 3,500 years ago. It is their land." — Feb 2024

"In Genesis, when we're told that God will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel," he continued, "I'm simple-minded enough to say, 'There it is. What am I gonna do? I'm gonna believe that."

In 2019, Huckabee railed against Congressman Rashida Tlaib for a photo that was released of a world map in her office on which Israel had been covered up by a sticky note reading "Palestine."

"Disturbing. Antisemitic," then-Governor Huckabee tweeted. "'Palestinian' Rashida Tlaib (there has NEVER been a nation called Palestine) erases Israel from map in her office... Do Dems support this bigotry and hate?"

Huckabee has publicly repeated his refusal to recognize Palestine many times, dating at least back to 2008, and reiterated in 2015 and in April 2024. In a video from 2008 that has now resurfaced on social media, Huckabee can be seen talking to two Orthodox Jews during a campaign stop in Massachusetts.
"Basically, there really is no such thing as – I need to be careful about saying this, because people will really get upset – there's really no such thing as a Palestinian," he told them.

German Man Is Raided By Police For Calling Pro-Censorship Vice Chancellor An “Idiot”

Yet another event in Germany has raised major concerns about freedom of speech. A 64-year-old pensioner from the Bavarian town of Bamberg found himself at the center of a legal storm after he posted a meme on social media that depicted pro-censorship Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck as a “Schwachkopf Professional” or “professional idiot.” This action prompted a police raid on his home where his computer and phone were seized.

The prosecutors statement said: “At a time that cannot currently be specified in more detail in the days or weeks before June 20, 2024, the accused published an image file using the account that shows a portrait of Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck with the title ‘Schwachkopf PROFESSIONAL’, based on the advertising campaign of the Schwarzkopf company, in order to generally defame Robert Habeck and to make it more difficult for him to work as a member of the federal government.”

The raid occurred in August, early in the morning when police officers entered the home of Stefan Niehoff, waking him and his family, which includes his wife and daughter. Niehoff, who had simply shared a meme that humorously altered a beauty care brand’s logo to feature Habeck, expressed his disbelief over the raid. He likened the aggressive enforcement to tactics used during the Communist era in East Germany.

This police action stemmed from a criminal complaint filed by Habeck himself, reacting to what he considered defamation that hindered his governmental duties. German law, refined during the tenure of the former Chancellor Angela Merkel, allows public officials to pursue criminal charges against perceived slanders relating to their official roles. Violations could result in fines or up to three years in prison.

The Vice Chancellor, along with other members of the Green party, has been an active participant in utilizing this law. Reports from the news outlet Junge Freiheit indicate that Habeck’s legal team continuously monitors social media for similar offenses, having filed 805 criminal complaints to date. His colleague, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, has filed 453 such complaints.

Habeck, who wishes to become Germany’s leader, recently called for more online censorship, also calling for “the regulation of algorithms, of X or TikTok, through the application of European legal norms.”

New details in the BibiLeaks case reveal the PM's spokesperson and three security officials are suspected of leaking classified information to harm national security, a severe espionage offense. The court approved publication of this development following a Haaretz request

An investigation into Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesperson revealed he shared a classified document with foreign media to sway public opinion in Israel against protests supporting a hostage release deal, arguing the demonstrations hurt negotiations and aided Hamas.

The Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court cleared the details for publication on Sunday, following a Haaretz request.

The document was sent to the German newspaper Bild via a third party linked to the Prime Minister's Office.

The court also permitted the publication of allegations that Eli Feldstein, Netanyahu's spokesperson, along with three security officials, is suspected of disclosing classified information with intent to harm state security – a serious espionage offense punishable by life imprisonment –and conspiring to commit a crime.

A reservist, identified as one of the primary suspects alongside Feldstein, provided a document with the second-highest security classification, a classified as such to protect the sources of the information.

The reservist sent the file to Feldstein via social media, who then passed it to a Channel 12 journalist. The journalist forwarded it to the military censor, which blocked publication. Feldstein then bypassed the censor, arranging for Bild to publish it.

At the same time, Feldstein alerted Israeli journalists and urged them to report on the article once it appeared in Bild....

Amid widespread protests over the government's handling of the hostage deal, Feldstein allegedly shared the documents to redirect public discourse, pinning blame on Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

A third suspect, a reservist with the rank of Major, allegedly passed Feldstein a separate intelligence-related diplomatic document. A fourth figure, a soldier in the information security unit also serving in another agency, is accused of knowing about the leaks but failing to report them....

The reservist testified that Feldstein presented himself as being very close to the prime minister and as someone with high-level security clearance.

The investigator in the case stated during the hearing, "There is no dispute that the transfer of materials and information by the suspect was to someone in the Prime Minister's Office."...

Netanyahu's Chief Of Staff Questioned For Allegedly 'Altering Timeline' Of 7 Oct Discussions

New criminal accusations are catching up to the Israeli premier weeks before he is due to show up in court for his corruption case

Israeli police suspect that Tzachi Braverman – chief of staff in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office – tried to manipulate the timelines of conversations between the premier and his military secretary, Major General Avi Gil, in the early hours of 7 October 2023.

According to Israeli daily Haaretz, “Netanyahu was first informed of the Hamas attack around 6:29 am [by Gil] shortly after air raid sirens sounded across the country” on an unsecured line.

Netanyahu and Gil had a second call using a secure ‘red phone’ 10 minutes later, during which the Israeli general updated the premier with intelligence reports.

Braverman is accused of attempting to manipulate the timestamp of the second phone call, including trying to blackmail an officer in the military secretariat of the prime minister’s office.

“Realizing that Braverman's attempt had failed, Gil decided to report the matter to Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara,” Haaretz reports, adding that Israeli police suspect “that staff in the prime minister's office used sensitive documentation belonging to the senior officer to gain access to the minutes, stored in the secretariat, with the intent to alter them.”

WSJ: Ukraine Orders Tens Of Thousands Of AI-Powered “Killer Drones”

The drones feature the Skynode system by U.S. company Auterion, which uses artificial intelligence for “computer vision.”

Skynode, a mini-computer and flight controller, is integrated into drones produced by Ukrainian companies. The technology bypasses electronic warfare interference, enables swarm control, and supports fully autonomous flight.

Ukraine is set to receive tens of thousands of Skynode units, with deployment on the battlefield expected early next year. Additionally, drones with fiber-optic guidance, already in use, offer further protection against electronic warfare.

Other companies are also developing similar systems for Ukraine’s defense.

Spherical UFO is seen hovering over New Jersey in jaw-dropping footage

A spherical UFO has been spotted hovering over New Jersey in new jaw-dropping footage.

An unidentified Reddit user took to the site to share a video of a shiny object flying over a construction site in Florence, New Jersey, on Monday.

The small circular object was captured on camera at around 2pm flying quickly across the sky and appeared to be rotating.

The user, who is known as Chesapeakefitness1 on the platform, said they noticed the object moments after hearing a 'loud jet sound,' which caused them to look up.

While other users suspected it was a Mylar balloon - commonly used at birthday parties - caught up in a gust of wind, the Redditor pushed back against the theory.

Others said it was moving too fast to be a Mylar balloon and appeared to be 'mechanically controlled'.

'The object is hard to see being small, but it is too unusual to be a balloon. Mylar usually reflects sunlight, but this might have its own light?' one questioned.

Another simply observed: 'Awesome footage. seems like a spinning sphere in a hurry.'

As for what the object actually was is yet to be determined.

New Jersey ranked fourth in Google searches for UFO activity, according to data analyzed in August.

...The Jersey sighting comes just days after a Las Vegas resident reportedly saw a bizarre cube-shaped object in the sky.

They claimed they had witnessed strange aerial lights in the area 'over 100 times' since June 2020, adding that these craft 'always seem to head toward Nellis Air Force base.'

For at least 17 nights last December, swarms of noisy small UFOs were seen 'moving at rapid speeds' and displaying 'flashing red, green, and white lights' within the highly restricted airspace over Virginia's Joint Base Langley–Eustis.

Vegas natives have posted videos confirming they too have seen more than one red, green or white UFO that 'wasn't flashing like a regular aircraft [or] like a satellite.'

Another witness, who documented one September 4, 2024, case from their own 60-night experience with the odd lights, hoped coming forward might help get answers.

'I live approximately 7 miles from Nellis,' they said. 'Past two months, every single night, I've seen numerous different things going on. Just wondering what it all is.'

General Glen VanHerck of North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), has pled with the US Secretary of Defense to authorize electronic eavesdropping tools to get to the bottom of the Langley swarm.

The general, who led the mission to take down the infamous Chinese spy balloon in February 2023, described Langley's 'drone swarm' wave as unlike any other reported.

And speaking to the Senate Armed Services Committee this past March, General VanHerck's successor as the head of NORAD, Air Force General Gregory Guillot, told lawmakers that still more baffling UFO cases over US bases continue to mount.

'I wasn't prepared for the number of incursions that I see,' General Guillot confessed.

While the new witnesses to the UFO sightings near Nellis were all civilians — working with consumer phone cameras and not the military-grade radar, infrared and NASA imaging tech deployed at Langley — their reports echo the Air Force's own experiences.

'They were flashing weirdly not [like] the normal navigation lights,' one witness reported in their submission to a UFO-spotting app run by start-up Enigma Labs.

'Typically sightings near bases such as Nellis and Area 51 where there are a lot of experimental aircraft being tested are assumed to be advanced technology under development,' Enigma Labs consultant Alejandro Rojas told DailyMail.com.

Settler Leader Daniella Weiss Claims She Scouted A Location For Settlements Inside Northern Gaza.

Veteran settler activist Daniella Weiss revealed during an interview that she took a field tour of an area in northern Gaza where she and her fellow expansionists plan to establish Jewish settlements with Israeli sovereignty.

A spokesman for the army said in response to her claim that the visit was not "recognized or authorized through the standard channels."

Weiss, appearing on Channel 13's evening news program on Saturday night to discuss plans to establish sovereignty over Gaza, shared that while she is hoping to grow support from "one million to two million people," she already has 740 families who are ready to make the move into Gaza. "Yesterday we were on a tour at a temporary site near the Gaza border, where we set up 40 trailers that we will eventually move into Gaza," Weiss said.

The interviewer then asked her whether she herself had entered the Gaza Strip after October 7 of last year, the date of Hamas' attack on southern Israel. "Did you see the real estate up close?" he asked.

"The truth is we are still a few steps away from real estate," Weiss responded, "but yes, I was in the field."

Weiss initially declined to go into further detail but, when pressed, hinted that she had visited the Netzarim Corridor. "That's the place we are aiming for more than anything," she added.
