Haaretz: Benny Gantz Is Not The Politician We Were Waiting For To Replace Benjamin Netanyahu

...I'm looking at Benny Gantz's tweet from a few weeks ago and I'm astonished. Someone who was defense minister, IDF chief of staff, who wants to be prime minister, who leads in certain opinion polls, but is walking around with a mind like a sieve.

The background: In the Likud WhatsApp group, an announcement was made about a Sukkot tour to Kibbutz Nirim, called "Preparing to resettle Gaza, together with the core settlement groups," led by minister May Golan... the tour was canceled.

A few days of feigned shock followed, and then Gantz emerged with his opinion on the matter. As a person who strives to find the average in everything, it's no surprise that he was able to achieve the worst of all opinions with his tweet.

"Enough with the hypocrisy," he wrote. "[Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu himself has already said he doesn't intend to allow resettlement in Gaza. But those who nevertheless still support settlement in the Gaza Strip – first, vote in favor of a military service plan that would enable the Israel Defense Forces to have the manpower it needs for its missions, and then go ahead and start planning conferences. Otherwise – who exactly will guard the places? Who will maintain security? Those who have been buckling under the burden for over a year as reservists? Or the regular soldiers whose service keeps getting extended? First vote – then organize conferences."

Sorry, but where does one even start with that? How is it possible to analyze such a dreadful opinion? Is the problem with these settlement-building schemes that they require more manpower from the IDF, and that these very same people are supporting the laws for our Haredi brothers to evade military service? Is that really his opinion on the matter? What a ridiculous reason: "because it requires more manpower."

Is that really why Gantz is opposed to resettlement in Gaza? Because of the draft exemption laws? I refuse to believe that, even if those responsible for the opinions of the political center told him that's what he should say. As though, as far as we're all concerned, if tomorrow 100,000 yeshiva students remove their white shirts and form three new IDF divisions, it's a good idea to rebuild the Netzarim settlement in the Strip? Is that his worldview?...

Does he genuinely believe that if Netanyahu says he "doesn't intend to allow any resettlement in Gaza," then that's it, the prime minister won't allow it? As though any of the messianists are asking Netanyahu, or if Netanyahu's word has any value or meaning anyway. Today he won't allow it; tomorrow, it will depend on what his political interests are....

Settlements in Gaza will be reestablished not because "Netanyahu will say so," but precisely by this method: one conference followed by another, and then one night 30 people will cross the border with a tent, a flag, Israeli journalist Moti Kastel and a sign, and establish a fact on the ground. The police will look the other way, because the Negev district commander wants a promotion from National Security Minister .. Ben-Gvir and won't answer calls from the army enquiring whether to throw the intruders out.

Ben-Gvir will say he won't evacuate them until some Palestinian is evacuated from someplace else, because obviously he's all about equality. Netanyahu will release some lukewarm statements, Gantz will explain that "this isn't the time," and in the end there will be some kind of compromise where the civilians will leave but the army will stay. They'll plant some tree and in order to water it, a car with five settlers will enter daily in order to check that it hasn't dried out. That's the way it will be month after month, and it will become a fact on the ground. That's how it's worked here for 60 years...

‘Off Leash’: The Crypto-Fascist Group Influencing Global Right Wing Politics

As political tribalism takes front and center in the lead up to the 2024 election, behind the scenes a shadowy network of elitist hardliners are hoping to influence the outcome.

In the lead up to the November 2024 US (s)election.. Both sides of the false left versus right dichotomy... in their respective echo chambers... perpetuating... political theater.

They are a branch of that same oligarchy, draping themselves in a pax-Americana to be presented as a bulwark against the “woke left”; seemingly preserving traditional American values against the encroaching dregs of Marxism through a veil of pseudo-patriotism. A new polarity in the old paradigm.

This polarity has contributed to the political rise of figures already entrenched in the orbit of the likes of Peter Thiel...

Thiel, founder of the CIA cut out surveillance technology corporation Palantir, has been a darling of the military industrial complex, member of the steering committee for the Bilderberg Group, and since 2016 one of the primary donors for the Trump campaign, as well as maintaining significant influence over the current campaign through his bankrolling of J.D. Vance...

Amid this rise of the new right overlapping with the great inversion is a group of figures already deeply entrenched within right-wing circles both in the open and behind the scenes...

The group has privately dubbed themselves “Off Leash”.

Earlier this year, the New Republic ran an in depth exposé of the group, revealing details of private messages obtained via leaks from the groups WhatsApp group chat....

Established by... founder of the mercenary group Blackwater USA, Erik Prince, the group’s members are a who’s who of far-right personalities...

Instead taking the logically inconsistent and polarized stance that it is only the “Marxists” and the “left” whom they oppose that pose a threat to freedom.

Politico: Members of Congress Have Taken Hundreds of AIPAC-Funded Trips to Israel in the Past Decade

The nonprofit arm of “America’s pro-Israel lobby” is spending big to shape US lawmakers’ views of Israel’s conservative government.

On June 16, as Benjamin Netanyahu continued his year-long defiance of Joe Biden over the war in Gaza, eight U.S. House members and two staffers arrived at Tel Aviv’s luxurious Kempinski Hotel for a four-day immersion in Israeli politics.

The lawmakers and aides toured the nation and met with a lineup of speakers largely aligned with the Israeli prime minister’s conservative views — including Netanyahu himself.

The trip, like hundreds of others over the past decade, was hosted by the nonprofit arm of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. AIPAC, which calls itself “America’s pro-Israel lobby,” is one of the most influential lobbyist organizations in the U.S. and promotes the Israeli government’s agenda.

After a roughly five-month pause following the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas, the AIPAC trips have continued apace this year, with eight trips by 71 House members and staffers from March through early September. Slightly more Republicans traveled with AIPAC’s nonprofit arm in that period than Democrats.

Now, as lawmakers face pressure from both sides on U.S. aid — with critics like Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) calling for a halt to arms sales in the face of Israel’s Lebanon offensive and supporters such as Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) demanding more funding for Israel to beef up its defenses — members are drawing on the lessons from their AIPAC travel to shape their views.

Rep. Glenn Ivey (D-Md.), who’s taken two AIPAC trips since September 2023 and who benefited from $6 million in independent expenditures from AIPAC in his first run for Congress in 2022 — said his time in Israel has been valuable in understanding a key U.S. partnership.

...While AIPAC is well known for sponsoring trips for lawmakers and aides to Israel in an effort to build support for the Jewish state, the full extent of that travel has not been clear until now.

A new analysis of thousands of records shows that, thanks largely to AIPAC’s nonprofit arm, Israel is far and away the No. 1 destination for privately sponsored foreign travel by members of the House and their aides.

More than a quarter of the roughly 4,100 privately sponsored foreign trips they have reported taking since 2012 were for travel to Israel, according to a study by the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism at the University of Maryland, which is publishing its findings in partnership with POLITICO.

That’s more trips to Israel than to the entire Western Hemisphere and the continent of Africa combined.

Haaretz: Defense Minister Gallant Says "Painful compromises" Are Necessary In Order To Bring Hostages Home — 10/27

Times of Israel: Gallant: Not all war goals can be achieved with military force, ‘painful compromises’ needed to bring hostages home

“There is no place too far away for us,” says Gallant at the state ceremony for troops who fell in battle since October 7 of last year.

Gallant says that Hamas “has ceased to operate as a military framework,” and that Hezbollah “continues to absorb a series of blows. Its chain of command was eliminated, most of its rocket and missile force was destroyed, and its forces were struck and retreated from the border.”

The terrorist groups no longer represent “an effective tool in Iran’s hands,” he argues.

Still, he stresses that not every goal can be achieved through military force.

“Returning the hostages to their homes demands painful compromises,” says Gallant. “We must do this for the hostages, for their families, for the soldiers who fell for this goal, for the IDF’s legacy, and in the name of the Jewish and national ethos.”

Gallant says that “this is our responsibility.”

Mossad Behind Italian 'Blackmail' Spying Scandal

A Mossad-linked private intelligence firm is accused of hacking Italian government data for blackmail and extortion operations

An Italian private intelligence firm that allegedly hacked government databases to collect information on thousands of prominent people, including politicians, entrepreneurs, and celebrities, is accused of working for Israeli intelligence and the Vatican, media reported on 30 October.

Police wiretaps leaked to Italian media show that Equalize, which employs former members of Italian intelligence, is accused of breaching the servers of government ministries and the police between 2019 and 2024 to collect information.

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Equalize allegedly collected numerous classified files that contain sensitive information about prominent Italians to sell to clients – including major companies and law firms seeking information to gain an advantage over competitors, win court cases, or for blackmail and extortion.

Prime Minister Meloni described the alleged scheme as "unacceptable" and "a threat to democracy."

At least four people are currently under arrest, while dozens more are under investigation. Fearing that Equalize may have obtained state secrets, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto ordered an urgent parliamentary investigation.
