Biden Moves to Lift Restrictions on Israel’s Access to US Weapons Stockpile

A former State Department official said easing the restriction would 'essentially create a free-flowing pipeline' of weapons to Israel

President Biden is looking to remove restrictions on Israel’s access to weapons and ammunition stored in a US stockpile located in Israel, The Intercept reported on Saturday.

The US military maintains a reserve stockpile of arms in Israel known as the War Reserve Stockpile Allies-Israel (WRSA-I). Israel has been granted access to the WRSA-I during previous conflicts under a set of rules that the White House now wants to eliminate.

The White House included the lifting of the restrictions in its emergency supplemental request it made to Congress on October 20 for approximately $105 billion to fund military aid for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.

Under the current restrictions, the US can only transfer weapons and ammunition to the WRSA-I that are “obsolete or surplus.” The White House’s request would eliminate that requirement and “allow for the transfer of all categories of defense articles.”

The request would scrap the requirement for Israel to make certain “concessions” to access the stockpile by giving the Pentagon “greater flexibility in determining the value of the concessions provided in exchange for the transfers.” It would remove congressional oversight by eliminating the requirement of providing 30-day notice before a weapons transfer.

US Bases In Iraq, Syria 'Plagued By Weapons Thefts': Report

Documents obtained by The Intercept reveal “sensitive weapons and equipment” have been stolen from US bases in Iraq and Syria

US military bases in Iraq and Syria are plagued by thefts of weapons and equipment, a report from The Intercept published on 26 November has shown.

Criminal investigation documents obtained by The Intercept via the Freedom of Information Act show that “multiple sensitive weapons and equipment” — including guided missile launch systems as well as drones — have been stolen in Iraq.

This follows hundreds of thousands of dollars in military equipment stolen from US troops in Iraq and Syria between 2020 and 2022, as reported previously by The Intercept.

Officials in Washington claim the US bases in Iraq and Syria are needed to conduct “counter-ISIS missions,” but Russian and Syrian officials have said that US forces support ISIS, which continues to target the Syrian army.

Groups like Amnesty International and Conflict Armament Research also found that a substantial portion of the weapons used by ISIS during the Syria war between 2014 and 2018 were either US-made or US-purchased.

The US military could not account for $715.8 million of military equipment distributed in 2017 and 2018 to Syrian armed groups allegedly fighting ISIS.

US officials have also acknowledged the Syrian and Iraqi bases are needed to maintain the US occupation of large swathes of northeastern Syria, where most of the country’s oil lies. This gives US officials leverage against the Syrian government and hinders reconstruction following more than a decade of war.

Israel Killed, Injured 2.6 Percent Of Gaza's Population In Under 50 Days: Rights Group

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor (Euromed) released an updated count of victims in Gaza on 25 November, showing that Israel's ethnic cleansing campaign has left at least 20,000 dead since 7 October.

"Our team recently completed an updated statistic of the number of victims, including those we were able to identify who were under the rubble, given the lack of chances of being alive," Euromed chairman Ramy Abdu said via social media. "The number […] reached 20,031 martyrs, including 8,176 children."

He added that the number is expected to increase as more bodies are recovered from under the rubble of destroyed buildings.

"This number, together with the wounded, represents an average of 2.6 percent of the population in the Gaza Strip, equivalent to 11 million Arab citizens," Abdu added in the social media post.

Financial Times: Israeli Intelligence ‘Dismissed’ Detailed Warning Of Hamas Raid

Report sent to senior officer weeks before October 7 attack was ignored, say people familiar with matter

A senior Israeli military intelligence officer dismissed a detailed warning predicting Hamas’s raid of October 7, calling it an “imaginary scenario”, said two people familiar with the discussions.

Sentries on Israel’s border with Gaza, many of them female soldiers who watch and analyse a constant feed of video and other data gathered near the electronic fence surrounding the enclave, sent a detailed report weeks before the attack to the highest-ranking intelligence officer in the southern command, both people said.

The report was sent using a secure communications system and contained specific warnings, including that Hamas was training to blow up border posts at several locations, enter Israeli territory and take over kibbutzim, the person with direct knowledge of the contents of the warning said.

Israel’s failure to prevent the attack, which the government says killed more than 1,200 people, is now seen as its largest intelligence failure since Egypt and Syria launched a surprise assault in 1973 on Yom Kippur, Judaism’s holiest day.

The whistleblower alleges that a leader of CTI League, a “former” British intelligence analyst, was “in the room” at the Obama White House in 2017 when she received the instructions to create a counter-disinformation project to stop a "repeat of 2016."

Nearly Half Of Israelis Support Jewish Resettlement In Gaza: Poll

A leaked intelligence document revealed last month that Israel has plans to ethnically cleanse and reoccupy Gaza

A significant percentage of Israelis are in favor of Jewish resettlement in the Gaza Strip following the end of the current war with Hamas, a 15 November poll carried out by Israeli Channel 12 indicates.

“44 percent of the public favors the renewal of the settlement in Gaza. In contrast, 39 percent of the public opposes the renewal of the settlement,” the survey says.

When asked specifically what should happen with Gaza when the war is over, 32 percent said, “Israel should remain permanently and renew Jewish settlement.”

Another 30 percent said Gaza should be “given over to international trusteeship.”

Ten percent said it should be handed over to the Palestinian Authority (PA), while 14 percent said they do not know.

The Israeli military withdrew from the Gaza Strip in 2005 under the Disengagement Law, approved that year by the government of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. The following year, Hamas emerged victorious over the PA’s Fatah party in elections, and in 2007 assumed internal control over the enclave, while the Israeli military retained external control.

CIA Retrieved ‘Intact’ UFOs – Daily Mail

A “secretive” office of the US spy agency has reportedly recovered nine “non-human craft”

American spies have managed to recover at least nine potentially alien vehicles, two of them “completely intact,” the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday, citing three anonymous sources.

The sources, supposedly briefed on top secret operations, told the UK outlet that the main player in the retrievals has been the Office of Global Access (OGA), a branch of the CIA Science and Technology Directorate established in 2003.

“There’s at least nine vehicles. There were different circumstances for different ones,” one of the sources said. “It has to do with the physical condition they’re in. If it crashes, there’s a lot of damage done. Others, two of them, are completely intact.”

The CIA has a system to detect unidentified flying objects (UFO) “while they’re still cloaked” and helps special US military units salvage the wreckage if “non-human craft” land, crash, or are brought down, the source added.

Another anonymous source described the OGA’s role as “basically a facilitator” for US operatives to access areas where they would normally not be allowed.

“They are very clever at being able to get anywhere in the world they want to,” the second source said.

Most of OGA’s operations involve “stray nuclear weapons, downed satellites or adversaries’ technology,” according to the Mail, but some missions have involved retrieval of UFOs – or as the US government now prefers to call them, “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena” (UAP).
