Yesterday: American Journalist Jeremy Loffredo (@ loffredojeremy on X_ is on his way home after being informally deported by the Israeli police - Max Blumenthal

Following an arbitrary arrest by the Israeli military at a West Bank checkpoint, Jeremy was blindfolded, shackled in a military truck, then held in solitary confinement for three days with little food or water. Israeli authorities had falsely accused him of "supporting an enemy during wartime" for legitimate reporting he performed for The Grayzone.

Though two Israeli judges ruled Jeremy's reporting did not violate the military censor's policy, they gave the police until October 20 to investigate him. During that period, the police seized and hacked into his phone, confiscated his wallet and passport, and interrogated him repeatedly at a station in occupied territory.

When the deadline to wrap the investigation arrived, the police quit their fishing expedition and ordered Jeremy to book the first available flight out of the country. He was interrogated one final time at Ben Gurion International Airport, then allowed to leave.

Jeremy's persecution for publishing factual journalism reflects the paranoid attitude of an Israeli state that is ruthlessly repressing critical reporting in the occupied West Bank and besieged Gaza Strip, where it has killed more than 120 Palestinian journalists in just over a year, making it the deadliest conflict for media professionals in the 21st century.

...It was a very foreseeable consequence that countries caught in the middle, and those watching on the sidelines, might start realizing it is not in their interests to go along with and help maintain US hegemony - which they suffer under, and comes at their expense - or inevitably will.

Countries started realizing that maybe it isn’t in their interest to be a slave vassal state that exists to martyr itself at the feet of the US empire in its vain attempt to maintain global dominance…. The global south has gradually been coming to realize that maybe their respective countries...rather than being forced to cede sovereignty and decision making to other countries or transnational corporations that treat them as vassals/slaves rather than equals, they can instead coalesce around a new axis/world order for protection from, or simply as a hedge against, the US world police bully...

...to address the multi-dimensionality of things... just because the US empire treats the world like shit, doesn’t mean that BRICS governments are coming to save the day...people need to be wary of a meta “savior narrative” and false dichotomy between two world orders that may be, hell, probably are, nothing more than 2 sides of the same globalist coin...

Many view the bloc’s challenging of US hegemony and the idea of returning to hard money as evidence that the bloc itself is going to run an agenda counter to that of the Western axis, that BRICS governments are going to offer a reprieve to the pervasive tyranny and exploitation the US-centric world has experienced...

The question is: Will there be a change of power, or just a change in power? Will the situation for humanity actually change, or will it be just a change in appearance, a change in font, a change in aesthetic - rather than a change in substance? Amidst the multi-polarity rhetoric and the opposition to the world’s boogeyman, the US empire.. what should we actually make of BRICS?

Are the BRICS nations going to save us from the New World Order and the big bad globalists like many seem to make it out to be(or at least seem to hope)?

Last Year's BRICS Summit: BRICS Doubles Share of Global Oil Production In Welcoming Six New Members at BRICS Summit in S. Africa — @PsyopDaily / TheMcgwire Original

The highly-anticipated BRICS Summit has come to an end, and the petrodollar isn’t far behind it.

In a HISTORIC move, BRICS has added 6 countries to the group — Egypt, Ethiopia, Argentina, UAE, Iran, and Saudi Arabia

It was initially spread throughout today that with the new members, BRICS now controls 80% of the global oil market in terms of production.

This is wrong. I am not sure where this figure originated from, but in the process of writing this article, and trying to verify it, I have discovered all the large accounts promoting the figure do not source this claim, and the Telesurenglish article that threw that figure out was doing so by embedding one of these accounts on twitter.

To put it bluntly, it seems someone pulled it out of their ass and it was amplified and boosted without people verifying.

Sprinter’s tweet along with many other racked up millions of views, which claimed BRICS now controls 80% of global oil production, and 30% of the GDP.

So what does the real data say?

Well, the 30% GDP was true before the 6 members were added. Just the BRICS core members accounted for 32% of global GDP. Now, according to President Lula, BRICS accounts for 37% of global GDP, and 46% of the global population.

BRICS went from controlling 20% of global oil production, to 42% of global oil production - as reported (and actually sourced) by THINK in “BRICS Expansion: The Saudi Surprise Adds Momentum to the De-dollarisation Debate”,

That is still a very large leap, 20 to 42%, and a very large chunk of the global oil trade...

According to Tass, BRICS collectively owns 44% of the gloval oil *reserves*

A twitter user pointed out that according to 2022 data, the new BRICS group with 11 members now accounts for over 50% of global oil exports(as opposed to production).

Of course, this expansion of BRICS control over the oil market directly threatens the petrodollar, and thus, the US dollar.

All the while, de-dollarization marches on, as BRICS leaders announced that the focus over the next year for finance ministers would be to “consider the issues of local currencies, payment instruments and platforms”.

.... If the reader of this article does not realize why this rally around BRICS is happening, why allies are turning away from us towards Russia and China, I refer you to my article from a year and a half ago that predicted the rise of BRICS.

Netanyahu And Blinken Discuss ‘Uniting Against’ Iran

They also discussed the Hezbollah drone attack on Netanyahu's home

Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Tuesday and discussed “uniting against” Iran.

“The issue of the Iranian threat was raised, including the need for both countries to unite against it,” Netanyahu’s office said in a statement on the meeting . “The Prime Minister thanked the American Secretary of State for the support of the US in the fight against Iran’s axis of evil and terrorism.”

The State Department said in a readout of the meeting that the two officials discussed efforts to “deter further regional aggression from Iran and its proxies” and said Blinken “reaffirmed the United States’ ironclad commitment to Israel’s security.”

The meeting comes amid anticipation of an Israeli attack on Iran in response to the Iranian missile barrage that was fired at Israeli territory, which was retaliation for a string of Israeli escalations, including the killing of Hamas’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, while he was visiting Tehran.

It’s unclear how big Israel’s attack on Iran will be or when it will happen, but it’s expected to take place before the US presidential election on November 5. According to Israeli media, Israel could use a Hezbollah drone attack that targeted Netanyahu’s home as a pretext to justify more extensive strikes on Iran.

When the Holocaust Returned it Came Denouncing Anti-Semitism and Wearing a Star of David.

It was never going to look how we were expecting. It wasn’t going to show up in its old familiar costume with the bent cross and the tiny mustache, blaming all the problems on the Jews.

It had to look different. If it didn’t look different, we never would have let it in the door.

And that’s still what’s throwing a lot of people off: it looks different. It doesn’t look like what all all the World War II movies and Holocaust novels conditioned us to watch out for. In fact, it looks so different that the victims in the last story have the same religion as the antagonists in the new one.

That old aphorism “History doesn’t repeat itself, but it often rhymes” is true because people don’t tend to make the exact same mistake in the same way twice, but the conditioning which led them to make the first mistake will often lead them to make a second similar one. We’ve all been made far too familiar with the Nazi extermination program to ever consent to Jews being rounded up and loaded onto trains again, but we also didn’t purge from our civilization all the murderousness, hatred and tyranny which made it possible. That’s why this new Holocaust has been allowed to happen.

We’ve all been conditioned to watch out for the next Hitler... We’ve been so focused on looking out for the Hitler who never comes that many of us missed when we started singing verses that rhyme with the ones we were hearing in Germany eight decades ago....

The villains in this new story don’t look like the villains in the old story, and, if you are a properly indoctrinated westerner, they might not look like villains at all. They might just look like Jews defending themselves from terrorists and western governments rightly defending their dear ally — which is exactly what they should do if they want to prevent another Holocaust!

But it’s that very misperception which is making today’s Holocaust possible...

People defend Israel’s actions on the grounds that Israel has reasons for doing things the way it’s doing them. They have to bomb Gaza — they suffered an unprovoked attack from a bunch of evil terrorists. They have to bomb all the hospitals and schools and mosques — that’s where Hamas are hiding. They have to bomb areas that are packed full of children — Hamas are using those children as human shields.

But those who commit mass atrocities always justify their actions. They always have reasons for doing them. They always frame it as a necessary act of self-preservation.

That was always what the next Holocaust was going to look like. It was never going to feature new bad guys who cackle and twist their mustaches saying “Haha, we are evil! Let’s kill a bunch of people because we are evil!” They were always going to frame themselves as the heroes and victims, and the other side as the villains and victimizers. They were always going to offer a bunch of reasons why what they’re doing is actually good and righteous...

If we are to prevent genocidal atrocities, we need to be able to recognize what’s happening in real time, and we can’t do that if we’re expecting them to show up in familiar and instantly recognizable packaging. We need to be able to see through the manipulations and justifications in the here and now so we can stop it in its tracks instead of waiting for history to judge it in our rearview mirror after it’s already happened.

This is important to recognize when it comes to saving Gaza, and it’s important to recognize when it comes to preventing the Holocausts of the future as well. They will never look identical to the Holocausts of the past. Their form will be unprecedented, and they will have different justifications for their orchestration. But they will rhyme. And we need to be able to pick up on that as it happens.

Netanyahu Declines Blinken Request To Publicly Reject Gaza Ethnic Cleansing Plan

Israeli officials have claimed to the US they're not carrying out the 'general's plan' in northern Gaza, but Israeli soldiers have said it's being implemented

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his aides rejected a request from Secretary of State Antony Blinken to publicly say that Israel is not implementing an ethnic cleansing plan in northern Gaza, known as the “general’s plan,” The Washington Post reported Tuesday.

The report said Netanyahu and his top aide Ron Dermer told Blinken that the general’s plan was “absolutely not our policy” and that the perception has been “deeply damaging to us.” But when asked to state that publicly, they declined.

The Times of Israel also reported that Netanyahu rejected the request to publicly denounce the ethnic cleansing plan.

While Israeli officials have told the US they’re not carrying out the ethnic cleansing plan, Israeli soldiers told Haaretz last week that it’s already underway in northern Gaza, where Israel has ordered hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to flee to the south and imposed a full siege. More than 500 Palestinians have been killed by the renewed assault, which has been focused on the Jabalia refugee camp.

The general’s plan calls for the forced evacuation of all Palestinians from northern Gaza. Under the plan, after a certain amount of time, the entire north will be declared a closed military zone, and anyone who stays behind will be killed by military action or through a starvation blockade.

Iran, Saudi Arabia In Talks For Joint Naval Drills

The exercise is being planned as Iran prepares for a possible attack by Israel

The Iranian and Saudi navies are planning to hold a joint exercise in the Red Sea region, Iranian Navy Rear Admiral Shahram Irani announced on 22 October.

ISNA news agency quoted Irani as saying that the Iranian naval forces are present in the Red Sea and that Saudi Arabia has expressed interest in organizing joint maneuvers in the region.

The admiral stressed that the delegations from both countries would hold consultations on organizing the maneuver, adding that they had extended mutual invitations to visit each other's ports.

Iran and Saudi Arabia normalized relations in March 2023 following a six-year rupture through talks brokered by China.

The joint naval exercise proposal comes amid escalating tension between Tel Aviv and Tehran.

BRICS Calls For Ceasefire In Gaza, Denounces Israel For 'Mass Killings'

The escalating conflict in West Asia figured prominently in the Kazan Declaration, adopted by the leaders who participated in the 16th BRICS summit in Kazan.

Leaders from BRICS countries on Wednesday called for an immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza Strip and the release of hostages from "both sides", while denouncing Israel for its military offensive that has led to "mass killings" of civilians in that territory.

The escalating conflict in West Asia figured prominently in the Kazan Declaration, adopted by the leaders who participated in the 16th summit of the group in this Russian city.

BRICS includes Iran which faces possible retaliation from Israel after it launched a barrage of ballistic missiles at the Jewish nation on October 1.

Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa were the initial members of the group, which has now expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

The declaration specifically condemned the Israeli airstrike on Iran's consulate in Syria in April that killed officers of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, among others.

Ireland Unveils EU-Wide Online Safety Code With Strict Censorship, Online Digital ID Verification, And Fines For Big Tech

Ireland is about to start implementing its Online Safety Code in November, with full implementation expected by the middle of next year.

The country’s media regulator (Coimisiún na Meán) is behind these rules that apply in all 27 EU member countries as that concerns online platforms that have their headquarters in Ireland.

The highlight of the Code is the ban on uploading and sharing a wide range of content, both user-generated (“third-party”) and commercial, in case the document defines the content as “harmful” – even in instances where it is actually not illegal under either Irish or EU law.

Critics are referring to this kind of approach as the authorities acting without “any democratic mandate,” but that doesn’t seem to bother them; instead, the highly controversial age verification has also found its way to this seemingly “para-democratic” move that does not need to be approved by Ireland’s parliament.

The age verification requirement has to do with platforms considered to permit “pornography and extreme or gratuitous violence” – and that could affect Meta’s Facebook and Instagram, X, Microsoft’s LinkedIn, Google’s YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc., and all their users.

The Irish regulator has decided to use the “money stick” as the main instrument to ensure compliance. Thus any platform that is found to be non-compliant will be ordered to pay the equivalent of some $21.6 million in fines.
