Amos Hochstein, a senior adviser to President Biden, is in Israel to hold talks with Israeli officials on preventing a major war with Lebanon as fighting between Israeli and Hezbollah forces across the Israel-Lebanon border continues to escalate, Axios reported on Monday.
Hezbollah rocket strikes on Monday caused heavy damage to Israel’s Birant military base near the Lebanon border, but no casualties were reported. Israel’s military said it responded with fighter jets, helicopters, and tanks, which targeted Hezbollah sites in southern Lebanon.
According to Axios, there’s growing anxiety in the White House that Israel’s military action could lead to a regional war. Some Biden administration officials believe Israel is trying to intentionally provoke Hezbollah to create a pretext for a wider war in Lebanon that can draw in the US.
The US has emboldened Israel to be aggressive by deploying a huge amount of firepower to the region in the name of “deterring” regional actors from entering a war against Israel.

BRICS Condemns Israel War on Gaza in Signal to the West
The grouping, which has previously focused on economic issues, called for an end to ‘war crimes’ in the Gaza conflict.
Leaders of major emerging economies called for an end to Israel’s war on Gaza on Tuesday, and for a cessation of hostilities on both sides to ease the rapidly deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
In a virtual summit chaired by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the BRICS grouping denounced attacks on civilians in Palestine and Israel, with many leaders calling the forced displacement of Palestinians, within Gaza or outside the territory, “war crimes.”
“We condemned any kind of individual or mass forcible transfer and deportation of Palestinians from their own land,” a chair’s summary read. The group, which did not issue a joint declaration, also “reiterated that the forced transfer and deportation of Palestinians, whether inside Gaza or to neighbouring countries, constitute grave breaches of the Geneva conventions and war crimes and violations under International Humanitarian Law.”
...But it wasn’t just these five countries that spoke on the war on Tuesday. Earlier this year, the BRICS had agreed to expand and add Egypt, Ethiopia, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Iran as members from 2024. The leaders of these six countries also participated in the meeting called by South Africa. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres joined the summit too.

Binance and its chief executive Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to criminal charges for anti-money laundering and violations of US sanctions under a sweeping deal with the US Department of Justice. The deal, which will allow the company to continue to operate, will also see Zhao step down as CEO. Binance will pay a $4.3 billion fine.
As well as leaving his role as CEO, Zhao will also pay a $50 million fine as part of the settlement. He appeared earlier today in court in Seattle to plead guilty and faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

On November 19, Argentina faced one of the most important elections since the return of democracy in 1983 exactly 40 years ago. The pro-life libertarian underdog candidate Javier Milei and his party “La Libertad Avanza” won the presidential run-off with a landslide victory, a 12% margin over the leftist Peronist former Minister of Economy Sergio Massa: 56% versus 44%. The two candidates campaigned for each vote in one of the most polarized and ideologized campaigns ever.
During the first electoral round, held on October 22, the ruling party candidate Massa unexpectedly reached 36.7% while Milei received just 30%. This was an election between freedom against the Hobbes' Leviathan idea embraced by Peronism, as well as all the majority of the leftist governments in Ibero-America.
Milei’s victory represented a historical change for a country run by Peronists for more than 45 years. This victory is also due to the crucial support provided by the former presidential candidate Patricia Bullrich and her center-right coalition “Juntos por el Cambio” who arrived third with 23.84 % in the first election round last October.
In his first public and inclusive statement new President elect Milei stated, “Today begins the reconstruction of Argentina. Today begins the end of Argentina's decline. The model of decadence has come to an end. Argentina will return to its place in the world that it should never have lost. We are going to work shoulder-to-shoulder with all the nations of the free world, to help build a better world. Our key words are limited government, respect of property rights and free trade.”
In fact, this is the victory of the majority of Argentinians tired of the permanent economic stagnation and fed up with bureaucratic leftist welfarism that dragged 40% of Argentinians under the poverty line including 56% of children.

Al-Mayadeen Journalists Killed By Israel In Southern Lebanon
Over the past several weeks, Israeli jet have indiscriminately targeted reporters, civilian homes, and even an army base in southern Lebanon
Two journalists and an elderly woman were killed during Israeli airstrikes on 21 November in southern Lebanon.
“We mourn our colleagues, reporter Farah Omar and photographer Rabih Al-Maamari, who were just killed in an Israeli bombardment in southern Lebanon,” Al-Mayadeen reported on Tuesday morning.
According to the Lebanese news outlet, the journalists were deliberately targeted by Israel after finishing their live broadcast.
Their murder happened just hours after Laiqa Sarhan, 80, was killed by an Israeli airstrike on a civilian home in the southern Lebanese town of Kfarkela.
