US intelligence officials speaking with The New York Times said that Israel will not be able to defeat Hamas and continuing to bomb Gaza will kill more civilians. Some national security officials expressed surprise at how much Israel has degraded Hamas over the ten-month onslaught but acknowledged that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) cannot prevent the Palestinian group’s reorganization.
According to The Times , “Israel has achieved all that it can militarily in Gaza, according to senior American officials, who say continued bombings are only increasing risks to civilians.” The report adds that several high-level officials traveling to the Middle East plan to tell Tel Aviv “that there is little more Israel can accomplish against Hamas.”
The current and former national security officials touted Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza as surprisingly effective in degrading Hamas. However, the officials admit the IDF has been unable to destroy the tunnel network or keep Hamas from reestablishing itself after Israel forces withdraw.
“[Hamas’s tunnel] network has proved much larger than Israel anticipated, and it remains an effective way for Hamas to hide its leaders and move around fighters.” The Times continues, “And even as the Israel Defense Forces have seized territory and killed Hamas fighters from north to south of the territory, they have repeatedly had to go back in as Hamas fighters regrouped.”

Israel Kills Scores Of Palestinians Across Gaza As 'humanitarian Zone' Continues To Shrink
UNRWA announced over the weekend that Israel has reduced Gaza’s humanitarian zone to only 11 percent, leaving hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians with nowhere to go
Scores of Palestinians were killed on 18 August as Israeli troops pushed deeper into central and southern Gaza while simultaneously bombarding the besieged strip.
Seven Palestinians, including a mother and six children, were killed in Israeli strikes on a residential building in the central city of Deir al-Balah, WAFA news agency reported on Sunday.
“Airstrikes targeted a home in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, killing four people and injuring dozens. In Gaza City, Israeli military vehicles fired heavy gunfire at homes in the Sabra and Zaytoun neighborhoods, while intense artillery shelling and air raids further devastated these areas,” WAFA added.
At least one was killed and several injured in the attacks on Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood.
Rescue teams also recovered the bodies of four people, as well as several injured, after Israeli attacks on the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern strip.

House Committee Slams EU For X Censorship Threats
The House Judiciary Committee has issued a stern critique of the European Union’s actions, which they perceive as an attempt to “silence great Americans like Elon Musk,” and is considering launching an investigation into what they deem an “infringement on free speech.”
Committee Chair Jim Jordan escalated tensions on Thursday by dispatching a strongly worded letter to EU Commissioner Thierry Breton, accusing him of employing legal measures to target Musk.
The contention arises shortly after Breton, in a public post, cautioned Musk against allowing “hateful content” to proliferate on X, especially in the lead-up to a scheduled discussion with former President Trump. This admonition was tied to EU regulations enacted in 2022, which hold social media platforms like X, Facebook, and TikTok accountable, with potential multibillion-dollar fines for spreading content that promotes hatred or violence in the EU.

Gaza Activists Stop Posting Socials As World 'Accustomed To Seeing Palestinians Killed
A prominent social media account documenting Palestinian civilians killed in Gaza has decided to stop posting updates on the war because "_everyone has grown accustomed to seeing us killed_".
The sudden decision announced by the 'Martyrs of Gaza' X and Instagram accounts hints at growing global fatigue at the war with Palestinians in Gaza feeling their voices are no longer heard despite the continued killing.
In an X post on Tuesday, Martyrs of Gaza wrote: "_We believe there is no point in telling our human stories anymore; everyone has grown accustomed to seeing us killed._"
The account said it was no longer worth "_the risk to send our voice out to a world that is content with mere solidarity_".
Despite the brutality of Israel’s offensive in Gaza which has now killed over 40,000 people and injured 90,000 more, the international community has failed to halt the fighting.
