Some content in those posts goes against our community standards.” A “learn more” option subsequently redirects users to Facebook’s community standards policy.
This happened against the backdrop of allegations of discrepancies in gender identity by the International Boxing Association (IBA). The body initially disqualified two athletes from their events, stating that their genetic test results revealed XY chromosomes.
However, they were permitted to compete by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), a body unaffiliated with the IBA, which does not rely on chromosomal testing for determining an athlete’s eligibility.
Svetlana Staneva of Bulgaria and Esra Yildiz of Turkey were the pugilists who made this “X” sign after their loss against Taiwan’s Lin Yu-Ting. Another athlete, Chinese runner Lin Yuwei, replicated this symbol before her 100-meter hurdles race.

Khelif’s attorney, Nabil Boudi, announced that a formal complaint of aggravated cyber harassment had been filed with the Paris prosecutor’s office. “Mrs Khelif contacted the firm, which filed a complaint yesterday for aggravated cyber harassment with the online hate center of the Paris prosecutor’s office,” said Boudi.
“The criminal investigation will determine who initiated this misogynistic, racist, and sexist campaign, but will also have to focus on those who fueled this digital lynching. The unfair harassment suffered by the boxing champion will remain the biggest stain of these Olympic Games.”
Khelif addressed the issue directly in a press conference, stating: “I am a woman like any woman. I was born a woman and have lived as a woman but there are enemies to success and they can’t digest my success.” Further expressing a desire to alter global perceptions, Khelif criticized the social media rumors as “immoral.”

The Israeli government issued a previous order to block the Lebanese-based network from working in Israel in November 2023, claiming harm to Israel's national security. The order expired in January, and Al-Mayadeen resumed its work.
The decision to again block the network, viewed as sympathetic to the Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah, came after "the reappearance of terrorist representatives posing as journalists about two weeks ago," a spokesman for Karhi said in a statement.
In what can only be seen as a blatant attack on freedom of speech and an effort to conceal the truth, the Israeli government approved the Telecom Minister's proposal to ban #AlMayadeen, seize its equipment, and block its websites as reported by Israeli media.

Iraqi Resistance Warns US Of 'Unrestrained Response' If Iran Attacked Via Iraq's Airspace
The possibility of a US–Israeli war against Iran and the Axis of Resistance has increased following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran
The Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee (IRCC) warned on 12 August that its response against US forces would be “unrestricted” if Iran is bombed through Iraqi airspace, Shafaq News reported.
The IRCC represents the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), a coalition of armed Shia factions opposed to the presence of US forces in Iraq. These factions include Kataib Hezbollah, Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada, and Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba. Some are incorporated into Iraqi security forces known as the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).
The Iraqi resistance has previously claimed attacks on US military targets in Iraq, including a rocket attack on the Ain al-Asad airbase in Anbar Province last week, which injured five US personnel.
On 31 July, the US military bombed a Kataib Hezbollah base in Iraq, killing a senior Yemeni missile specialist, Hussein Abdullah Mastour al-Shabal. The same day, Israel assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Israel assassinated Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut one day later.
Iran and Lebanon's Hezbollah have promised to retaliate for the assassinations, while US officials have promised to defend Israel if it goes to war against Iran.

The possibility of a US–Israeli war against Iran and the Axis of Resistance has increased following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran
The Iraqi Resistance Coordination Committee (IRCC) warned on 12 August that its response against US forces would be “unrestricted” if Iran is bombed through Iraqi airspace, Shafaq News reported.
The IRCC represents the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), a coalition of armed Shia factions opposed to the presence of US forces in Iraq. These factions include Kataib Hezbollah, Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada, and Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba. Some are incorporated into Iraqi security forces known as the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).
The Iraqi resistance has previously claimed attacks on US military targets in Iraq, including a rocket attack on the Ain al-Asad airbase in Anbar Province last week, which injured five US personnel.
On 31 July, the US military bombed a Kataib Hezbollah base in Iraq, killing a senior Yemeni missile specialist, Hussein Abdullah Mastour al-Shabal. The same day, Israel assassinated Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Israel assassinated Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut one day later.
Iran and Lebanon's Hezbollah have promised to retaliate for the assassinations, while US officials have promised to defend Israel if it goes to war against Iran.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has told Secretary of Defense Lloyd Autin that Iranian military preparations show Iran is preparing for a large-scale reprisal attack against Israel, Axios reported on Sunday.
The report said that a new Israeli intelligence assessment says that Iran is likely to launch an attack in response to the Israeli killing of Hamas’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, in the coming days. Israel previously thought Iran might have been rethinking the attack due to US pressure.
Last week, Israeli officials discussed the possibility of launching a “preemptive strike” on Iran if they had intelligence that an Iranian reprisal attack was coming, which would just escalate the situation further.
Sources told Axios that Israeli intelligence believes Iran might launch the reprisal attack before Thursday, the day the US, Qatar, and Egypt said they wanted hostage negotiations between Israel and Hamas to restart.
Iran’s mission to the UN said Sunday that Tehran is hoping its reprisal attack will not impede ceasefire negotiations. “We hope that our response will be timed and conducted in a manner not to the detriment of the potential ceasefire,” the mission said.

The Syrian army and tribal forces have engaged in clashes in recent days against the US army and Kurdish-led SDF
The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) targeted Syrian army positions with mortar and artillery shells at dawn on 12 August in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, Al Mayadeen reported.
The Kurdish-led SDF also targeted the villages and towns of Sabikhan, Al-Bulil, and Mohsen with mortar and artillery shells while striking the town of Baqras with an armed drone. SDF snipers opened fire at anyone moving on the opposite bank of the Euphrates River, injuring several civilians.
On Sunday, several Syrian army soldiers were killed and others wounded in a drone strike targeting a vehicle near Syria’s eastern city of Al-Bukamal on the Syrian–Iraqi border.
The military vehicle was carrying Syrian army personnel near the town of Al-Duwair in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, as it was en route to a checkpoint near Al-Bukamal city, tasked with preventing ISIS infiltrations from Iraq into the Syrian border city.
The strike came as eastern Syria witnessed significant escalation in recent days after a coalition of Syrian Arab tribes launched a massive offensive against the SDF in Deir Ezzor’s countryside on 7 August, as part of a rebellion launched against the US-backed militants last year.

The Israeli army has falsely claimed that over a dozen out of more than 100 civilians massacred in its strike on a Gaza school on 10 August were “terror operatives” belonging to Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement.
Chairman of the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor Ramy Abdu and Gaza journalist Motasem Dalloul, both of whom knew some of the victims personally, were among many who picked apart Israel's claims.
Abdu revealed via social media that two of those listed as “operatives” were, in fact, civilians who had been killed in earlier Israeli attacks.
Munther Daher, listed as a PIJ operative in Tel Aviv’s infographic of “terrorists” it said were eliminated in the attack, was a regular citizen who was killed alongside his sister on Friday, one day before the strike on the school, Abdu revealed in an X thread exposing the Israeli claims.
Yusuf al-Wadiya, listed by Israel as a Hamas operative, was also killed in his home two days before the massacre.
Another one of the names on Israel’s list is Muhammad Hamid al-Taif. He was not linked to any political activity and worked as an English teacher, but is listed as a Hamas operative.

According to Maduro, the ban, which was directed by the Venezuelan telecommunications regulator Conatel, is a response to Musk’s behavior on the platform, which he claims included inciting “hatred, fascism, civil war, death and confrontations among Venezuelans,” thus violating Venezuelan law.
This drastic move came shortly after Musk publicly criticized Maduro, labeling him a “Dictator” and accusing him of “major election fraud” about the recent presidential election, which remains disputed. Maduro, in a televised statement, issued a combative challenge to Musk, proposing a physical confrontation: “Elon Musk, I’m ready. On Sunday, Hamas released a statement calling for the implementation of a hostage and ceasefire deal with Israel that was previously unveiled by President Biden.
President Biden unveiled the proposal on May 31, and it was backed by the UN Security Council in a resolution passed on June 10. The proposal is for a three-phase deal that, if fully implemented, would permanently end Israeli military operations in Gaza.
Biden claimed the proposal was approved by Israel, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the idea of a permanent ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. He later added new demands as a way to sabotage the chances of a deal being reached.
Hamas said that it wanted to implement the deal instead of restarting hostage negotiations to discuss new proposals, which the Palestinian group said would “provide cover for the occupation’s aggression.”
Hamas said that it “demands that the mediators present a plan to implement what they proposed to the movement… based on Biden’s vision and the UN Security Council resolution, and compel the occupation to comply.”
