Lawmakers Marshall and Gaetz Call for Probes into Big Tech’s Alleged Censorship of Trump Assassination Attempt, Seek Google and DHS Testimony

Google is being accused of doing its part to “memory-hole” one of the most serious incidents in American politics in decades – the attempted assassination of former president, now presidential candidate, Donald Trump.

Google’s search engine is leaving out relevant results in the autosuggest feature, thus decreasing the likelihood of users learning more about the event, and importantly, the investigation into it.

Senator Roger Marshall, a Republican who is a member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, has announced a probe into this behavior, blasting Google at the same time for yet again engaging in censorship of conservatives, and, demonstrating “willful discrimination against President Trump and users of (the) search engine.”

For these reasons, Marshall wrote to Google CEO Sundar Pichai to tell him that he should show up before lawmakers and testify about the company’s conduct. The importance of this type of censorship is all the greater since, as the senator notes, Google is the largest search engine in the world.

But now, according to him, it has turned into “a propaganda wing of the Biden-Harris Administration and the radical Left.” The senator sees this as a form of election interference, accusing Big Tech in general of bias in favor first of the Clintons, then Biden, and now Kamala Harris.

Congressional Commission Determines US ‘Not Prepared for Global War'

The report recommends Washington significantly boost its ballooning defense budget and 'foster an alliance that could lead to global war'

The US Commission on the National Defense Strategy, a congressionally mandated group with members handpicked by bipartisan lawmakers, has determined that Washington is unprepared to face a possible global war and must significantly overhaul its national defense strategy.

In its 132-page report, published by the RAND Corporation, the commission recommends Washington boost its nearly $1 trillion yearly defense budget to “Cold War-era levels” and urges the government to “foster an alliance that could lead to global war.”

“The United States must spend more effectively and efficiently to build the future force, not perpetuate the existing one. Additional resources will be necessary. Congress should pass a supplemental appropriation to begin a multiyear investment in the national security innovation and industrial base,” the report says.

Increasing Washington’s defense spending would allegedly address recruiting shortcomings, a “grossly inadequate” industrial base, and “underfunded cyber and space domains.”

Citing global “threats,” such as China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran, the commission endorsed its 2018 recommendation to increase base defense spending by 3 to 5 percent annually above inflation. US defense spending oscillated between 4.9 and 16.9 percent during the Cold War.

Senior member of Israel's negotiating team describes 'a chasm' between Netanyahu and top defense officials over the hostage deal; TV report quotes heated exchange in which PM accused them of being too 'soft'

Israeli defense chiefs believe Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not interested in a hostage deal/cease-fire with Hamas, a senior member of the Israeli negotiating team told Haaretz on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, Israel's Channel 12 reported on a tense exchange between Netanyahu and the defense chiefs, in which Shin Bet head Ronen Bar said, "It feels like the prime minister doesn't want the framework that's on the table ." Turning to Netanyahu, he added that if that is the case, "you should tell us."

The report also quoted the head of the Missing and Captive Soldiers Division in the IDF, Maj. Gen. (res.) Nitzan Alon , who told Netanyahu: "You know that all the parameters you've added [to the framework] will not be accepted and there will be no deal."

Mossad chief David Barnea stressed to Netanyahu, "There is a deal on the table. If we delay, we could miss the opportunity. We have to take it."

Netanyahu, per the report, reacted angrily, accusing the defense chiefs of being "soft."

UK PM Keir Starmer Uses Riots To Call For Mass Surveillance and Social Media Censorship

The more things change, the more they remain the same, at least in the UK; after many years of Tory governments’ vigorous efforts to extend mass surveillance indiscriminately targeting citizens and enact stringent anti-free speech laws, the new Labour government seems to be picking up right where the previous one left off.

The wake of the Southport riots has elicited the usual medley of reactions: moves to address societal issues with more surveillance, strengthen the police state, blame “misinformation” and unproven, but always handy to bring up, “foreign meddling.”

But the real malady seems to be squarely at home: in fact, in the prime minister’s office. Keir Starmer happens to be sitting there now, but the policy hardly ever changes: he, too, wants more mass surveillance based on facial recognition, and more pressure on social media to ramp up censorship.

If anything does change it is the intensity of these demands that have long since been rejected as “Orwellian” by rights groups like Big Brother Watch.

Here, Starmer told a news conference called after the events branded as far-right riots, that participants in the protests (whom he called “thugs” and compared with football hooligans) are “mobile” and for that reason, police forces will, going forward, be a part of a network of sorts.

The prime minister added that there will be intelligence and data sharing, as well as “wider deployment of facial recognition technology, and preventative action, criminal behavior orders to restrict their movements before they can even board a train, in just the same way that we do with football hooligans.”
