Washington Misled Lebanon Into Thinking ‘Beirut Is A Red Line’: Report
Senior White House official Amos Hochstein tried to push Lebanese officials to sway Hezbollah against responding to an attack
Senior White House Adviser Amos Hochstein led a “diplomatic disinformation campaign” and deceived Lebanese officials into thinking Israel would not attack Lebanon’s capital or its southern suburbs, Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar reported on 1 August.
Hochstein “informed officials in Beirut that the Israeli strike would be outside Beirut and the suburbs. He insisted on leaking this information under what he referred to as ‘the success of American diplomacy,’” according to the newspaper, calling the US official’s talks with the Lebanese state a “deception operation.”
The report adds Hochstein was trying to obtain a guarantee from Lebanese officials that Hezbollah would not respond to any potential Israeli attack in response to the strike on Majdal Shams last weekend, which Tel Aviv pinned on Hezbollah as a pretext for escalation.
Hochstein was the first to lead Washington’s contact with Beirut following the killings in the occupied Golan Heights town on Saturday, on the premise that “Hezbollah’s responsibility for the incident is not open to debate,” the newspaper says. This comes despite the eyewitness reports that an Israeli Iron Dome interceptor caused the deaths and the inconsistencies in Tel Aviv’s narrative which continue to emerge.
“Hochstein communicated with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati, practicing a policy of deception by indicating that his country was making a great effort to prevent escalation and convince Israel [not to attack Beirut and kill civilians],” which was exactly what ended up happening.

Speaker of Iran’s Parliament Vows Israel Will Pay ‘Heavy Price’ for Haniyeh Killing
Ayatollah Khamenei led prayers for Haniyeh during the Hamas official's funeral in Tehran
On Thursday, a funeral was held in Tehran for Hamas’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, and Iranian officials vowed they would strike back at Israel for the assassination of the Palestinian official on Iranian soil.
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, spoke at the funeral and said Israel would pay a “heavy price” for killing Haniyeh and said the era of Israel and its main ally, the US, conducting “hit and run” attacks is over. “It is our duty to react in the right place and at the right time,” he said.
Haniyeh and his bodyguard were killed Tuesday night while sleeping in an official guest house in Tehran, reportedly by an explosive that was planted by Israeli intelligence two months earlier. He was in Iran for the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei quickly vowed Iran would take “revenge” for the assassination and, according to The New York Times, has ordered a direct attack on Israel in response. Khamenei led a large crowd of mourners in prayers during the funeral.

Israel’s economy has already suffered significantly as a result of the Gaza genocide and the operations of the Axis of Resistance
The Israeli shekel has taken a downfall in the aftermath of Israel's assassination of Hamas’ most senior political official, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran early on 31 July.
Bloomberg reported on 31 July that the shekel fell 1.2 percent on Wednesday “as traders worried the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh on Iran’s soil raised the danger of a broader Middle East war.”
The shekel’s cumulative decline of 3.3 percent in the last three days is “the worst in the world,” second only to the recently-floated Ethiopian birr, according to Bloomberg.
Israel’s 10-year sovereign yield has risen six points to 4.99 percent. “The latest events have eroded traders’ optimism in a quick resolution,” the outlet wrote, adding that the shekel is likely headed for its worst week in two years.
Nick Rees, FX strategist at Monex Europe Ltd in the UK, said, “It is hard to see a scenario where the shekel does not continue to trade under pressure, unless and until both sides step back from the brink.”

President Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday and promised the US would help defend Israel from any reprisal attacks it may face from Iran or its allies in response to recent Israeli escalations.
Iran is vowing revenge for the Israeli assassination of Hamas’s political chief in Tehran, and Hezbollah is warning it will escalate in response to the Israeli strike in Beirut that killed one of its top commanders.
“The President reaffirmed his commitment to Israel’s security against all threats from Iran, including its proxy terrorist groups Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis,” the White House said in a readout of the Biden-Netanyahu call.
Biden also said the US was deploying more military assets to the region. “The President discussed efforts to support Israel’s defense against threats, including against ballistic missiles and drones, to include new defensive US military deployments,” the readout said. The White House said Vice President Kamala Harris was also on the call.
A Pentagon official told The Washington Post that the US had assembled 12 warships in the Middle East that were already in the region to prepare to defend Israel. The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and six US Navy destroyers are in the Persian Gulf, while three amphibious ships and two destroyers are in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Secretary General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, announced on 1 August that the Lebanese resistance is no longer just “a support front” in the fight against Israel and that the response to the assassination of top commander Fuad Shukr “is a foregone conclusion.”
“We are beyond the stage of being a ‘support front’; we are now in an open battle against the Israeli enemy, on all frontiers – we have entered a new stage,” Nasrallah said, stressing that operations during the next several days “are not a response to the martyrdom of Mr Fuad Shukr.”
“The enemy and those behind the enemy must await our inevitable response [to Shukr’s killing], no discussion or debate, and between us are the days, nights, and the battlefield,” the resistance leader added, calling the attack on Dahye “part of the US-Israeli war on our region” and stressing that “there will be no solution except to stop the aggression on Gaza.”
“The enemy does not know where our response will come from, whether from the north or south of Palestine, and whether it will be separate or simultaneous [with the rest of the Resistance Axis] … We will carry out a real, practical response – it will not be a symbolic response or a formality.”
“You (Israel) will cry a lot because you do not know which red lines you have crossed,” Nasrallah said during a televised speech delivered as part of the funeral proceedings for Shukr, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut earlier this week.

The online digital ID age verification creep in the US continues from a number of directions, through “recommendations” and “studies” – essentially, the government is nudging the industry to move in the direction of implementing digital ID age verification tools.
At this point, it is happening via various initiatives and legislation, still, without being formally mandated.
One instance is a recommendation coming from the Biden-Harris Administration’s Kids Online Health and Safety Task Force, which is telling online service providers they should “develop and inform parents about age verification tools built into the app or available at the device level.”
The task force is led by the Department of Health and Human Services, HHS (its Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration, SAMHSA,) in what is referred to in official statements as “close partnership” with the Department of Commerce.
This initiative is presented as an industry guidance that will ensure the safety of youths on the internet, as well as their health and privacy.

The figures have been stalled for months. The goal is to minimise Israel’s barbarism, while lulling western publics into a false sense of complacency
The death toll in Gaza is way too low by every imaginable metric. We need to be stressing this – all the more so when Israel’s apologists are vigorously engaged in a disinformation campaign to suggest that the figures are inflated.
On 6 May, 7 months into Israel’s slaughter, there were reported to be 34,735 dead. That was an average of 4,960 Palestinians killed each month.
Today, nearly three months on, the reported death toll stands at 39,400 – or an increase of 4,665.
It should not need a statistician to point out that, were the rise linear, the expected number of deaths would stand by this point at around 49,600.
So, even by the simplest calculation, there is a large shortfall in deaths – a shortfall that needs explaining.
Such an explanation is easy to provide: Israel destroyed Gaza’s institutions and its medical infrastructure, including its hospitals, many months ago, making it impossible for officials there to keep track of how many Palestinians are being killed by Israel.
The death toll figures started to stall in the spring, around the time Israel completed its destruction of Gaza’s hospitals and kidnapped much of the enclave’s medical personnel.
More than a month ago, Save the Children pointed out that some 21,000 children in Gaza were missing, in addition to the 16,000 known to have been killed by Israel. Many are likely to have suffered lonely, terrifying deaths under rubble – gradually suffocated to death, or dying slowly from dehydration.
But again, even those shocking figures are likely to be a severe under-count.
The linear figure entirely misses the bigger picture. How?
1. Because in addition to the continuing Israeli bombardments, Palestinians have had to endure three more months of an intensifying faminee...
2. Because Palestinians have had three more months deprived of medical care after Israel destroyed their hospitals and medical institutions. If you have a chronic illness – diabetes, asthma, kidney problems, high blood pressure, and so on – the longer you are forced to go without medical attention, the greater the chance you will die from an untreated condition. Again, the death rate in such circumstances is exponential, not linear.
3. Because without medical care, all sorts of other things that happen in everyday life become more dangerous. Childbirth is the most obvious example, but even cuts and grazes can become a death sentence...
4. Because, for exactly the same reasons, those injured by Israel’s continuing bombardments are likely to have poorer outcomes than those similarly injured in earlier attacks. Fewer doctors means less chance of treatment, means greater chance of dying from your wounds.
5. Because we know that – given the insanitary conditions, the lack of water and food, the weakened health status of the population, and the destruction of hospitals – epidemics now are breaking out. The already warned of a likely outbreak of polio, but there are sure to be other diseases emerging such as cholera, typhoid and dysentery that have yet to be isolated and identified..
A letter from researchers to the Lancet medical journal this month warned about the likely massive under-count of the dead in Gaza, even relying, as they had to, on the established death toll.
Their point was that indirect deaths – of the kind I enumerate above – need to be factored in as well as the direct deaths from Israeli bombs. They very conservatively estimate that the total number who will die over the coming months – not just from bombs but as a result of the lack of medical care, insanitary conditions and famine – is 186,000, or 8 per cent of the population.

Trump’s recent speech on bitcoin and crypto embraced policies that will seek to mold bitcoin into an enabler of irresponsible fiscal policy and will employ programmable, surveillable stablecoins to expand and entrench dollar dominance.

Talk of a threatened dollar has been circulating for years, with the petrodollar system now having ended and increasingly influential power blocs seeking alternatives to the dollar as a reserve currency. However, Trump – per his recent speech – seems poised to employ bitcoin as a sink for out-of-control U.S. government debt and to unleash the expansion of digital dollar stablecoins, which are already quietly dollarizing numerous countries in the Global South as the consequences of Covid-era fiscal policies continue to decimate the purchasing power of the 99% globally.

Iraq Boosts Security On Syrian Border After US Proxies Free Hundreds Of ISIS Fighters
Officials from Mosul say the released ISIS fighters have been 'dispersed along the Iraqi borders' with no monitoring
The Iraqi armed forces have increased security along the country’s border with Syria following the release of hundreds of ISIS fighters from prison camps controlled by the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
“The porous nature of the Iraq–Syria border, coupled with the ongoing conflict in the region, creates ideal conditions for ISIS to regroup and launch attacks,” Ahmad al-Sharifi, a strategic expert, told Shafaq News Agency on 1 August, adding that Baghdad has increased patrols along the border region and are “closely monitoring the situation in northeastern Syria.”
Sharifi also explained that the prisoner release is a result of the need by the SDF to “free up manpower for the frontlines” to face a potential confrontation with Turkiye.
In mid-July, authorities from the SDF-controlled Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) issued a general amnesty that has so far secured the release of over 1,500 Syrian ISIS fighters convicted of terrorism-related offenses, provided they “did not participate directly in combat” against the SDF.
The US-backed SDF holds thousands of ISIS fighters and their family members in around two dozen prison camps in occupied northeast Syria. These include 2,000 foreigners whose home countries have refused to repatriate them.
“All those released by SDF have been dispersed along the Iraqi borders, and there is no monitoring. According to gathered information by the Iraqi government, none of these released ISIS fighters hold Iraqi citizenship and are all foreigners,” ...
The mass release of ISIS fighters in northeast Syria coincides with an expansion of Turkiye’s military campaign against Kurdish groups on its borders with Iraq and Syria, plus renewed attacks by local resistance factions against US bases in both nations.
The move by the SDF also follows an ongoing resurgence of the extremist armed group in Syria, where they have repeatedly launched bloody attacks against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Mexico's President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Wednesday there was no evidence of fraud in an election that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro claims he won but which the opposition contests and has sparked nationwide protests.
Lopez Obrador also reinstated his call for transparency and called on the Venezuelan electoral body to show evidence and make public all the voting tallies from Sunday's elections.
"I have no proof, there is no evidence in the case of Venezuela," the president said during his daily press conference, answering a question about potential fraud in Venezuela's election.
He also said Mexico will not participate in an emergency meeting of the Organization of American States (OAS) permanent council scheduled for Wednesday after nine Latin American governments have called for one.
"We do not agree with the OAS' biased attitude," he said during the conference, saying the organization acknowledged the victory of Venezuelan opposition candidate too soon.
The Mexican president said earlier this week he would wait for Venezuela's election results to be reported fully before he recognized a winner.
Other countries and international organizations have expressed concerns about Sunday's election, while Lopez Obrador called for them to refrain from intervening in Venezuela.

The Secretary explained his conclusion was drawn from a report from the Carter Center, named for former US President Jimmy Carter. Blinken asserted the institute was “independent.” However, the Carter Center is funded by multiple US government agencies, including the State Department.
Over the past two decades, Washington has made multiple attempts to overthrow Maduro, and his predecessor, Hugo Chavez. Under President Donald Trump, the White House backed Juan Guaido’s claim to the presidency in Caracas.

All of Moscow's "red lines" have been crossed, none of this makes any sense. It seems more like oligarchic in-fighting. It's not clear what real alternative BRICS and multipolarity will provide since they will force-inject you and cattle tag you with Digital ID just like in the G20 West!
