‘Israel in Collapse’: 46,000 Businesses Forced to Close Since 7 Oct - The Cradle [7/11]

It is estimated by Israeli risk management firm CofaceBdi that 60,000 businesses will be closed by the end of 2024

Forty-six thousand Israeli businesses have been forced to shut as a result of the ongoing war and its devastating effect on the economy, Hebrew newspaper Maariv reported on 10 July, referring to Israel as a “country in collapse.”

“This is a very high number that encompasses many sectors. About 77 percent of the businesses that have been closed since the beginning of the war, which make up about 35,000 businesses, are small businesses with up to five employees, and are the most vulnerable in the economy,” Yoel Amir, CEO of Israeli information services and credit risk management firm, CofaceBdi, told Maariv.

The report adds that “the most vulnerable industries are the construction industry, and as a result also the entire ecosystem that operates around it: ceramics, air conditioning, aluminum, building materials, and more – All of these were significantly damaged,” according to CofaceBdi’s risk ratings.

The trade sector has also been severely affected. This includes the service sector and industries including fashion, furniture, housewares, entertainment, transport, and tourism.

Israel is in a situation where “there is almost no foreign tourism,” the report said, adding that “damage to businesses is all over the country, and almost no sector has been spared.”

This includes the agriculture sector, which is based mainly in the south and the north – both considered active combat zones due to the threat posed by the Palestinian resistance and Lebanon’s Hezbollah – whose support front against Israel has significantly contributed to the downfall of the economy.

The CofaceBdi CEO estimates that 60,000 Israeli businesses are expected to be shut down by the end of 2024.

Yemen Attacks Israeli Ship, Port City in Response to Khan Yunis Massacre

Sanaa has vowed to continue its operations until Israel's genocidal war on Gaza is brought to an end

The Armed Forces of Yemen’s Sanaa government, aligned with the Ansarallah resistance movement, announced on 14 July an operation against an Israeli ship in the Gulf of Aden and an attack targeting Israel’s southern port city of Eilat, known in Arabic as Umm al-Rashrash.

Sanaa’s forces said the operations were a “response to the Al-Mawasi massacre in Khan Yunis, which was committed by the Israeli enemy [on Saturday].” At least 90 Palestinian civilians were killed in the massacre in southern Gaza.

“The naval forces, the unmanned air force, and the missile force of the Yemeni armed forces carried out a joint operation targeting the Israeli ship (MSC UNIFIC) in the Gulf of Aden, with a number of ballistic missiles and drones,” Yemeni army spokesman Yahya al-Saree said in a statement on Sunday.

“The Air Force launched a number of drones targeting a number of military targets of the Israeli enemy in the Umm al-Rashrash area, south of occupied Palestine. The operation achieved its goals successfully,” Saree added.

Sanaa also confirmed “full readiness to carry out joint military operations with any Arab or Islamic party that supports the oppressed Palestinian people.” The Yemeni army has carried out several joint operations with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI) recently. The Yemeni statement came after renewed US–UK airstrikes on Yemen on 14 July.

An officer at the rally took a photo of Thomas Matthew Crooks at 5:45 p.m. and reported him as a suspicious person.

Channel 11 News uncovered dramatic new details Monday in the moments leading up to the assassination attempt on former president Donald Trump. According to multiple law enforcement sources, Thomas Crooks was spotted by law enforcement on a roof nearly 30 minutes before shots were fired that injured Trump, killed a former fire chief and injured two others in the crowd.

Channel 11′s Nicole Ford confirmed that Beaver County’s ESU team had eight members at the rally, including snipers and spotters. According to Ford’s sources, one of them noticed a suspicious man on a roof near the rally at 5:45 p.m., called it in and took a picture of the person. We have learned from our sources the person in that picture is Thomas Crooks. We’re told it’s not clear if Crooks had a gun with him at that point.

According to multiple sources, a law enforcement officer had also previously seen Crooks on the ground and called him in as a suspicious person with a picture prior to 5:45 p.m. Our sources tell us an officer checked the grounds for Crooks at that point, but did not see him where the first picture was taken.

26 minutes after the second picture of Crooks was taken by law enforcement and the information called in, shots were fired from the roof of the American Glass Research building. Seconds later, a Secret Service sniper returned fire and killed Crooks.

Morocco Inks $1BN Spy Satellite Deal with Israel: Report

The Moroccan people have been taking to the streets in support for Palestine and against normalization with Israel since the 2020 Abraham Accords

Morocco is set to purchase an Israeli spy satellite in a deal worth $1 billion, Moroccan media reported on 11 July.

According to Israeli sources in Rabat cited by Moroccan news sites Le Desk and Le 360, Israel will provide Morocco with the Ofek 13 spy satellite to replace its Airbus and Thales satellites.

Israel’s state-owned Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI) confirmed that it entered into a $1 billion contract to supply one of its systems to an unspecified party.

IAI said in a regulatory filing that the deal will be implemented over a five-year period.

Morocco was among the Arab states that normalized relations with Israel in the 2020 Abraham Accords. In 2021, Tel Aviv and Rabat signed a defense pact involving intelligence and cooperation in military industry.

Last year, Israel recognized Morocco’s illegal occupation in the Western Sahara. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed Israel’s position in a letter to Morocco’s King Mohammed VI.

Financial Times reported in May, citing Arab and western officials, that Morocco was among several Arab states that were considering joining a US-led initiative for a “peacekeeping force” in Gaza once Israel’s genocidal war comes to an end.

Publicly, Rabat has repeatedly called for a ceasefire and the implementation of a two-state solution.

As close cooperation between Tel Aviv and Rabat continues, the Moroccan population has taken a firm stance against normalization with Israel – particularly since the start of the war on Gaza in October.

Pro-Palestinian protests in the country have been common throughout the past several months.

The Israeli Institute for National Security Studies said in June, citing a survey conducted by Arab Barometer, that Israel has fallen even deeper out of favor across Arab states, including Morocco.

Twenty-six percent of Moroccans described the events in Gaza as a massacre, 14 percent as a genocide, and another 14 percent as a mass killing.

Saudi Arabia ‘Threatened’ G7 Against Seizing Frozen Russian Assets: Report

Riyadh has significantly boosted its economic ties with Moscow over recent years in spite of western objections

Saudi officials earlier this year privately issued a “veiled threat” to G7 nations, saying the kingdom could drop some European debt holdings if the western bloc decided to seize almost $300 billion in Russian frozen assets, according to informed sources who spoke with Bloomberg.

The warning, which explicitly mentioned “debt issued by the French treasury,” was reportedly sent earlier from the kingdom’s finance ministry to some G7 counterparts...

In April, POLITICO reported that Saudi Arabia, along with other nations “sympathetic” to Russia, had been pressuring the EU to resist US and UK pressure to illegally seize Russia’s sovereign assets, which were immobilized after the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022.

“These countries are very skeptical about the idea … this would create a precedent,” an official familiar with the talks told the US outlet, highlighting that these nations “fear” they could be next to be targeted by the west’s policy of economic warfare.

As Saudi Arabia is seeking to abandon the Petrodollar, India is seeking to phase out the dollar as a reserve currency in trade with Russia, the dollar’s reserve currency status faces a great threat.

Saudi Arabia’s departure from the standard it was instrumental in creating could embolden other countries to follow suit. Likewise, as multiple countries bolster relations with Russia and China, and defy the US’s wishes and implicit or direct threats, this could embolden others to do the same in the future-dismantling US hegemony. We could be witnessing the fall of the US empire, and its reserve currency, coincided by the rise of an emerging power structure and world economic system in which BRICS nations rise as the new dominant power of the globe.
