Israel Will Ignore UN Security Council Resolution Calling for Pause in Fighting in Gaza
The Security Council passed its first resolution related to Israel’s war in Gaza on Wednesday that calls for “urgent and extended humanitarian pauses.”
The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Wednesday that called for a temporary pause to the fighting in Gaza. Tel Aviv said the call for a short peace was a decision “disconnected from reality and holds no significance.”
The resolution passed the UN’s most powerful body in a vote of 12-0.
The US and UK did not vote for the motion because it did not condemn Hamas. Russia abstained over concerns that the resolution did not make a strong enough call for peace. Moscow’s representative said Washington is responsible for removing the word “ceasefire” from the text.
The resolution called for “urgent and extended humanitarian pauses” in Gaza to allow aid to reach Palestinian civilians and for “the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas and other groups, especially children, as well as ensuring immediate humanitarian access.” The AP reports the language in the resolution was watered down.

The Parliament of Catalonia Calls for the Release of Pablo González and Julian Assange
The Parliament of Catalonia has demanded the release of the Basque journalist Pablo González and of Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, in a statement by the board of spokespersons promoted by the CUP and supported by Esquerra Republicana, Junts per Catalunya and En Comú Podem.
The document indicates that these two journalists have suffered deprivation of liberty for many years “ just for having practiced his profession rigorously ”. In the case of Assange, they affirm that “ has simply fulfilled its journalistic duty to report ”, while the situation of the Spanish journalist is seen as “ a very clear case of attack on press freedom and freedom of expression ”. The Board also demands that all legal and procedural guarantees be respected in the case of González and that he be released immediately.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s hold on power in Tel Aviv suffered two setbacks on Wednesday. Messages from a member of his Likud Party surfaced asserting Netanyahu’s days in office “are numbered.” Additionally, the head of the opposition in Israel, Yair Lapid, demanded the prime minister resign.
Galit Distel Atbaryan, a Likud member of the Knesset, sent private Telegram messages slamming the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “I have a great anger toward Netanyahu, fury that is burning me from inside,” she said. “The days of this government are numbered, that’s completely clear.”
The Times of Israel describes Distel Atbaryan as “a firebrand who was seen as a Netanyahu loyalist.” She was a minister in Netanyahu’s government but resigned in the days following the Hamas attack on southern Israel.

China took the lead in lockdowns in 2020. Media exported from China showed people dropping dead in the streets. Caskets were piling up. Doors to buildings were sealed to lock in tenants. Throughout the panic, all reasonable alternative assessments of risks from the viral outbreak were ignored, censored, or rejected.
Nevertheless, I wondered whether a video of a person falling down in the street was really representative of the entire population. Were caskets piling up largely due to families fearing to claim them because of contamination with the virus? I noticed that the front doors to my local mall in Ontario, Canada had also been sealed, just like in China apartment buildings, but this was only to control access through a single entrance to the building, not to seal in customers.
My first clue that the emergency response to the outbreak of the coronavirus didn’t seem to make sense was when I heard Fauci tell television audiences that if our response seems to be overreacting, then we are probably doing the right thing. What? Since when is overreacting ever the right thing to do? Do generals win wars by overreacting?
The answer to why countries followed China’s lockdowns is simple. They were told to do so by the World Health Organization (WHO). The better question is: why did the WHO tell them to do that?
However, there is more to the story. Was this even really a novel coronavirus, or just a novel genetic sequence of the coronavirus showing greater detail than previously available?

Kenya Expands Its Controversial Digital ID System
Taking a decisive move towards embracing dystopian technology, the Kenyan government has formally published legislation redecorating its digital ID system. The new modality builds upon its existing infrastructure for biometric citizen registration, allotting provisions for the issuance of a digital ID card, a comprehensive digital register of individuals, and a unique personal identifier.
The proposal includes the UPI, making the process of generating birth certificates simpler by directly assigning them to newborns.

Taking a decisive move towards embracing dystopian technology, the Kenyan government has formally published legislation redecorating its digital ID system. The new modality builds upon its existing infrastructure for biometric citizen registration, allotting provisions for the issuance of a digital ID card, a comprehensive digital register of individuals, and a unique personal identifier.
The proposal includes the UPI, making the process of generating birth certificates simpler by directly assigning them to newborns.
