Widely Reported Palestinian Father-Son ‘Rape’ Confession Contradicted by Piles of Evidence

Alleged “confessions” by two Palestinians in Israeli custody, who were filmed admitting to multiple rapes, murders, and kidnappings on October 7, do not match the events of that day, are contradicted by copious evidence, and were likely coerced through torture. US and British media are running with the stories regardless.

On May 23, 2024, Britain’s Daily Mail published what it described as “exclusive” interrogation tapes it had been handed by Israeli intelligence. The Murdoch-owned tabloid claimed the supposed confessions exposed a pair of “father and son Hamas rapists” who had admitted “going house to house carrying out sex attacks and murder.” The proof of this apparent bombshell story consisted of two short snippets of heavily edited footage in which a wide-eyed Palestinian father and son are shown confessing to raping, killing, and kidnapping Israeli civilians from Kibbutz Nir Oz in Israel on October 7th.

In the videos, the pair, listed by the Daily Mail as “Shameless Jamal Hussein Ahmad Radi, 47, and his son Abdallah, 18,” seemingly admit to heinous crimes including a double homicide, kidnapping a mother and daughter, gangraping and murdering a woman, and kidnapping an Israeli resident.

In an appeal to emotion aimed at making the very questioning of the confessions’ reliability an act of siding with monsters, the Daily Mail writes, “An evil father and son have revealed…] how they killed and raped innocent civilians.” The opening sentence distills the essence of the article as a whole: “These confessions further prove that any attempt to deny the horrors of October 7th… is part of a campaign… to promote the justification of terrorism.”

This investigation will expose the videos, and the Western media coverage of them, as yet another cynical example of Israeli propaganda designed to manufacture support for Tel Aviv’s assault on the Gaza Strip. Indeed, the claims made in the videos are not only uncorroborated by any evidence gathered by Israel, they are contradicted by copious documentation of the deaths which occurred in Nir Oz on October 7.

Lebanon Bombed Over 6,000 times by Israel Since October

In retaliation, the Lebanese resistance has hit critical positions of the Israeli army nearly 2,000 times since the start of military operations in support of Palestinians in Gaza

The Israeli army has launched 6,142 attacks on Lebanese soil that have killed at least 543 people from 7 October to 21 June, according to an analysis by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project (ACLED).

Three hundred of these attacks have hit Aita al-Shaab, a Shia-majority village located one kilometer from the border with Israel and which, in the 2006 Israel–Hezbollah war, saw 85 of its homes destroyed.

Other towns regularly targeted by the Israeli army include Ras al-Naqoura (246 attacks), which hosts the headquarters of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL); the southern village of Hula (219 attacks), where the Israeli army massacred dozens of unarmed men between 31 October and 1 November 1948; Kfarchouba (218 attacks), the second largest village in southern Lebanon; and the village of Kfar Kila (209 attacks).

Although most of Israel's attacks have been concentrated in and around these southern villages, Israeli drones and jets have hit the cities of Tyre and Saida several times, as well as numerous locations in the Bekaa Valley in northern Lebanon.

According to reports in western media, the near-daily airstrikes, artillery shelling, and indiscriminate use of incendiary chemical white phosphorus by the Israeli army have made much of the five-kilometer zone north of the border “uninhabitable.” More than 95,000 people in south Lebanon have been forcibly displaced as well, according to the UN.

UN Project Aims To Combat “Misinformation,” “Hate Speech,” Recommends Algorithmic Censorship and Demonetization

The United Nations has unveiled the latest in a series of censorship initiatives, this one dubbed, the Global Principles for Information Integrity.

Neither the problems nor the solutions, as identified by the principles, are anything new; rather, they sound like regurgitated narratives heard from various nation-states, only this time lent the supposed clout of the UN and its chief, Antonio Guterres.

The topic is, “harm from misinformation and disinformation, and hate speech” – and this is presented with a sense of urgency, calling for immediate action from, once again, the usual group of entities that are supposed to execute censorship: governments, tech companies, media, advertisers, PR firms.

They are at once asked not to use or amplify “disinformation and hate speech” and then also combat it with some tried-and-tested tools: essentially algorithm manipulation (by “limiting algorithmic amplification”), labeling content, and the UN did not stop short of recommending demonetizing the “offenders.”

Forget the Old Jokes, Foreign Policy Was the Real Debate Horror

Two major wars and not a serious or even coherent conversation to be had — we may be in trouble

If one was hoping to distinguish how the two major presidential candidates view the most critical foreign policy issues of our time, the debate last night was a shattering disappointment.

If one’s expectations were so low as to believe nothing but second-hand embarrassment would be gained from the exchanges last night, then maybe not so much.

On Ukraine and Israel, President Biden and former President Trump inflated, conflated, and bloviated their way through 11 minutes of foreign policy discussion, only turning back to the topics in fleeting moments of taunting incoherence during the rest of the time on the stage.

For Trump, it was surface-level attacks on how, to his mind, Biden’s weakness and lack of leadership in the “disgraceful” Afghanistan withdrawal in September 2021 encouraged Putin to invade Ukraine, and Hamas to attack Israel (he repeated this numerous times during the 90-minute debate, which took place in Atlanta and without a live audience).

Biden retorted by saying Trump openly encouraged Putin to invade in February 2022 and repeated that if not stopped, the Russian president would rampage across Europe to re-establish the “Soviet Empire.” As for Israel, he boasted about a White House ceasefire deal that no one, not Hamas nor Israel, has seen fit to seriously engage in weeks.

“Neither candidate put forth a vision of how the U.S. can positively engage with the world in a manner that advances American interests and addresses the shared existential threats posed by climate change, nuclear proliferation and growing great power tensions,” quipped the Quincy Institute’s Eli Clifton.

That is an understatement. With the immense gravity of two major wars bearing down on the planet simultaneously, the two men vying for the job of commander in chief seemed intent only to talk about these issues within the narrow band of their own choosing. Trump was slightly more expansive — invoking the cost of blood and treasure and the need to end, particularly, the war in Ukraine, while blaming Europe for what he called freeloading. But his boast of being able to end the war in Ukraine while still president-elect was backed up by nothing but his sheer insistence that it would happen.

For his part, Biden made statements that did not comport with current geopolitical reality, but harkened back to the time of D-Day and the Greatest Generation, saying at one point that “we are the most admired country in the world.” His attempt to suggest he is holding back 2,000-pound dumb bombs from Israel for humanitarian reasons was quickly undermined by his assurance that the U.S. was giving Israel everything it wanted and saying the quiet part out loud, that we “are the biggest producer of support for Israel in the world.”

By the end of the debate when Trump was saying Biden “will drive us into World War Three,” the audience was likely too dulled to react. In the morning the spin from both sides will cherry pick and likely dwell on other things: fact-checking Trump, Biden’s age and performance, the cringey exchange over who is a better golf player, and the ongoing disputes over the 2020 election and January 6...

Israeli Cabinet Approves Plan To Legalize 5 Settlements in West Bank

After a crisis in cabinet, Netanyahu's segregationist Finance Min Bezalel Smotrich announces the Israeli government has agreed to legalize 5 more illegal West Bank outposts & to impost sanctions on the top Palestinian Authority officials.

The Israeli Cabinet on Thursday evening approved steps proposed by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich aimed at "legalizing" settlement outposts in the West Bank and imposing sanctions on the Palestinian Authority.

Israel's official broadcasting authority KAN reported on Friday that the Security Cabinet approved Smotrich's plan to counter Palestinian statehood recognition and actions against Israel in international courts.

The plan includes measures against the Palestinian Authority, the legalization of five settlement outposts in the West Bank, and the issuance of tenders for thousands of new housing units in settlements.

Additionally, the plan involves revoking permits and benefits for Palestinian officials, restricting their movement, and preventing senior officials from leaving the country.

Furthermore, it includes measures such as removing executive powers from the Palestinian Authority in the southern West Bank, enforcing laws against unauthorized construction, and protecting heritage sites and environmental areas.

The areas designated as “Area B” in the West Bank fall under Palestinian civil control and Israeli security control.

Smotrich’s proposal specifically addresses the recognition and regularization of five settlement outposts in response to the five countries officially recognizing Palestine as a state after Oct. 7.

Spain, Norway, Ireland, Slovenia, and Armenia have all made official declarations recognizing the state of Palestine, particularly in the aftermath of the destructive Israeli war on Gaza that has been ongoing since last October.

Settlement outposts are small communities established by illegal Israeli settlers on privately owned Palestinian land without approval from the Israeli government.

Netanyahu’s Wife Accuses Army Leaders of Planning Coup D’Etat

Sarah Netanyahu told families of Hamas captives that she has 'no confidence' in the army's senior leadership

Sarah Netanyahu accused Israel's army chiefs of seeking to carry out a coup against her husband, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Haaretz reported on 25 June, based on leaked audio obtained by the newspaper.

In a meeting last week with families of some of the captives held by Hamas in Gaza, Sarah Netanyahu stated several times in the tape that she has no confidence in the army's senior officers.

The families became upset by Mrs Netanyahu's comments, saying the fate of their captive family members depended on the army.

In response, Mrs Netanyahu clarified her comments. She said that her lack of confidence is not in the army as a whole but in its senior commanders.

Haaretz adds that she "vehemently claimed that they are interested in carrying out a coup" and repeated the claim multiple times.

The meeting was also attended by army officers, including Colonel (Ret.) Verda Pomerantz, formerly head of the casualty division, and Gal Hirsch, a former army commander tasked by the prime minister to coordinate the government's effort to free the captives. Sarah's statements were brought to the attention of senior officers in the army.

The meeting took place a few days after the Prime Minister's son, Yair Netanyahu, attacked the army chiefs as well, accusing them of treason.
