Joining BRICS+ ‘Good Alternative’ to EU: Turkiye

Turkiye’s interest in joining BRICS+ will be discussed at the bloc’s upcoming foreign ministers’ meeting this month

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on 4 June during a trip to China that his country is interested in joining the BRICS+ group of emerging economies.

“Certainly, we would like to become a member of BRICS. So, we’ll see how it goes this year,”
Fidan was cited as saying on Tuesday by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper.

Fidan noted that since some European nations have opposed Turkiye's joining the EU, authorities in Ankara are considering BRICS+ as a “good alternative.”

"We cannot ignore the fact that BRICS, as an important cooperation platform, offers some other countries a good alternative. We see potential in BRICS,” the Turkish diplomat said.

SCMP also cited Fidan as saying that he hopes to attend the BRICS+ foreign ministers meeting scheduled for this month in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod.

“One of the topics on the agenda is expected to be the possibility of Turkey, a NATO ally, joining the BRICS grouping.” T
urkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared an intention to join the bloc at its summit in Johannesburg six years ago, yet little progress has been made since then.

As the disobedience continued, the US took the route of sanctioning the individual banks that did not comply in these countries, forcing them to have a sort of foot in both camps, one in the BRICs/Mir/CHIPs axis, another in the Western/SWIFT axis.

The US took the same route with other non-compliant countries, forcing countries to essentially have a foot in and out of both pools, economically impacting them negatively.

US Hegemony Threatened As Saudis, UAE, India Ignore Threats of Sanctions, Turn to Russia/China@PsyopDaily Original

... my last publication’s thesis that the US' unilateral sanctions are expediting the fall of the dollar as a reserve currency, and critically damaging to not just the countries sanctioned by the US, but critically damaging to America itself as well.

Will threats of sanctions on the neutral gulf states and India, as we’ve already seen take place, be productive, or counter productive to America’s own security and stability?

Just as Biden threatened India with sanctions, and it seemed to only push India into Russia’s arms, threatening the gulf states with sanctions will likely do the same, encouraging them to strengthen ties with China and Russia...

US Test Fires Two Unarmed Minuteman III Nuclear ICBMs

This week, the US test-fired two unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), which are designed to carry nuclear warheads and are part of the US nuclear triad.

The tests come amid soaring tensions between the US and Russia over the proxy war in Ukraine. The US Air Force insisted the two tests had nothing to do with “current world events,” although the US has previously canceled ICBM tests due to tensions with Russia.

According to Defense News, the tests were conducted on June 4 and June 6. The ICBMs were launched from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, and both the Air Force and Space Force were involved in the tests.

The ICBM launches came a few weeks after Russia conducted drills simulating the use of strategic nuclear weapons, which came in direct response to provocative rhetoric from Western officials. Russia pointed specifically to talk about NATO sending troops to Ukraine.

'Thank God I escaped': Palestinian journalist becomes target for" far-right" Israeli mob

Palestinian journalist Saif Al Qawasmi became a story in his own right when dozens of far-right Israelis attacked him in full view of the world’s media.

Al Qawasmi was covering the ultranationalist Flag March, which sees tens of thousands of far-right Israelis, mostly teenagers, parade through the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City on Wednesday.

A photo of Al Qawasmi being mobbed inside Damascus Gate by a swarm of teenagers quickly went viral online, and became a symbol of the danger the march poses to Palestinians, particularly journalists.

He was knocked to the ground and kicked repeatedly, sustaining a head injury.

“The settlers stole my phones, filming equipment and they beat me and insulted me,” he told The National on Thursday after his ordeal.

Twitter Founder Jack Dorsey Warns Social Media Algorithms Are Draining People of Their Free Will—and Elon Musk Agrees

If social media is the equivalent of a weapon of mass destruction, then Jack Dorsey would be a contender for the digital era’s Robert Oppenheimer.

Speaking at the 16th annual Oslo Freedom Forum on Wednesday (June 5), the remorseful Twitter co-founder expressed how conflicted he felt at his own creation born out of the noble ideals of open-source protocols before becoming corrupted by the realities of needing to survive in a competitive marketplace.

And he had a warning: social media and internet companies that grew into trillion-dollar behemoths by discovering content in the vast, unorganized expanse of the internet and curating it to maximize user engagement are just the first manifestation of this danger.

What Facebook and Google were for the Web, companies like OpenAI are for the coming era of artificial general intelligence.

AI tools will know us better than we know ourselves and, either through design or default, influence our thinking at a subconscious level, even if their algorithms are made transparent.

“This is going to sound a little bit crazy, but I think the free speech debate is a complete distraction right now. I think the real debate should be about free will,” he said in Norway’s capital of Oslo, home of the Nobel Peace Prize.

“We are being programmed. We are being programmed based on what we say we’re interested in, and we’re told through these discovery mechanisms what is interesting—and as we engage and interact with this content, the algorithm continues to build more and more of this bias.”

“Yeah, Jack is right,” the Tesla CEO posted on Wednesday.

The New York Times featured a story about how the Israeli Occupation is using rape as weapon of war during their ongoing genocide on Gaza, burying the information at the very bottom of one of their articles as if these horrific crimes are some kind of footnote to go unmentioned in the headline or subheadline.

🚫According to Walla, citing a U.S. administration official, the American hostages unit in Israel assisted in the release of the four Israeli detainees in Gaza.

Footage published by an Israeli occupation soldier confirms Israel's use of the American temporary pier in central Gaza during its offensive operations in the Al-Nuseirat refugee camp.

Additionally, local Palestinian sources indicate that the unit sneaked into the camp inside a truck carrying humanitarian aid that came from the floating pier
