"The Federal Reserve Bank of New York has written a report outlining the narratives around "declining dollar shares in official reserves, and increasing roles for gold holdings by central banks," which is says has been "inappropriately" generalized beyond "the actions of a small group of countries."
The report authors found global central banks and finance ministries held nearly $12 trillion of foreign exchange reserves as of the end of 2023, with nearly $7 trillion composed of U.S. dollar assets. World Gold Council data shows "global central banks purchased over 1,100 tons of gold in 2022—more than double the purchase amounts of the previous year—and maintained a similar purchase level in 2023," according to the report.
"The Fed now admits some countries are moving to gold," tech investor and former Coinbase chief technology officer Balaji Srinivasan posted to X, pointing to what the Fed says is a "small group" that "represents 3 billion people. So 37.5% of the world is moving away from dollars towards gold."

Covid Vaccines May Have Helped Fuel Rise in Excess Deaths — The Telegraph

Experts call for more research into side effects and possible links to mortality rates

Covid vaccines could be partly to blame for the rise in excess deaths since the pandemic, scientists have suggested.

Researchers from The Netherlands analysed data from 47 Western countries and discovered there had been more than three million excess deaths since 2020, with the trend continuing despite the rollout of vaccines and containment measures.

They said the “unprecedented” figures “raised serious concerns” and called on governments to fully investigate the underlying causes, including possible vaccine harms.

U.S. Seizes Scott Ritter’s Passport

The US State Department has seized the passport of former Marine and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter, he told RT on Monday (June 3).

Ritter was on his way to Russia for the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) when he was pulled off the plane and had his documents confiscated.

“I was boarding the flight. Three [police] officers pulled me aside. They took my passport. When asked why, they said ‘orders of the State Department’. They had no further information for me,” Ritter told RT. “They pulled my bags off the plane, then escorted me out of the airport. They kept my passport.”

Ritter is a former US Marine Corps intelligence officer, who later served as the US and UN weapons inspector in Iraq. He is also a RT contributor, writing about international security, military affairs, Russia, and the Middle East, as well as arms control and nonproliferation.

Nearly Half of Israelis Support Lasting Occupation of Gaza: Poll

Almost two-thirds of Israelis agree that the army’s conduct in Gaza is either ‘appropriate’ or ‘hasn’t gone far enough’

Forty percent of Israelis are in favor of their army establishing control over post-war Gaza, according to a new poll published in Hebrew media.

The survey, released on 1 June by Israeli news site I24, was conducted between the end of March and the start of April.

Those forty percent are “advocating for Israel to assume control over Gaza following the ongoing conflict,” according to results obtained from 1,001 Israelis, which also show “broad support for current military actions.”

The poll also reveals that 39 percent of respondents believe that the Israeli army’s conduct in Gaza has been “appropriate.” Another 34 percent believe that the army has “not gone far enough.”

Only 19 percent said Israel’s war on Gaza has been excessive and disproportionate..

Nato is developing multiple “land corridors” to rush US troops and armour to the front lines in the event of a major European ground war with Russia.

American soldiers would land at one of five ports and be channelled along pre-planned logistical routes to confront a possible attack by Moscow, officials told The Telegraph.

It comes amid warnings from the Alliance’s top leaders that Western governments must prepare themselves for a conflict with Russia in the next two decades.

Logistical routes have become a key priority since Nato leaders agreed to prepare 300,000 troops to be kept in a state of high readiness to defend the alliance at a summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, last year.

Existing plans have US troops landing at Dutch ports before boarding trains that transport them through Germany and onwards to Poland.

For decades the Bilderberg meeting, where the rich and the powerful gather behind closed doors to talk about what ails the world, has been the subject—understandably—of conspiracy theories. In recent years, Bilderberg has sought to remake itself and open up a little: more Davos than Illuminati.

But it still raises hackles from many observers. Its beady eyes, twinkling with billionaires, are this year fixed firmly on the future. Specifically, the “future of warfare.” And with conflicts raging from Sudan to Ukraine to Gaza, it feels like it is the spirit of the age.

This grim subject is being thrashed out under the hum of police drones hovering over the hotel, making sure such luminaries as the king of the Netherlands and the head of NATO are safe inside. Even by Bilderberg standards, the security at this year’s conference is intense, but it managed to gear up even more when the Spanish king’s entourage swept into the venue past a traffic jam of police vans.

The heightened security is perhaps a reflection of the threats and “challenges” packed into the conference agenda: Russia, China, the Middle East, the climate—while the session on Ukraine, titled Ukraine and the World, has a worrying hint of a wider world war. And when the topic of the Changing Faces of Biology is being discussed by the CEO of Pfizer, the head of the EU Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, and the man who led the Human Genome Project, you can almost hear the alarm bells over the police sirens.

The world of Bilderberg in 2024 throbs with threats; it’s what conference participant Alexander Stubb, the president of Finland, recently described as “the weaponisation of everything.” It’s a world of “hybrid attacks” driven by disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence. There’s even a session on AI safety at this year’s gathering, one of two sessions devoted to AI, securing its place at the head of Bilderberg’s agenda.

Biden to Skip Switzerland Ukraine War Summit Despite Zelensky’s Invitation

President Biden will skip a summit on the Ukraine war that will be held in Switzerland despite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urging him to attend.

The summit will be held on June 15 and is being billed as a “peace summit,” but Russia has not been invited to attend. At previous summits, Zelensky has pushed his demands for peace talks, which include a complete Russian withdrawal from Ukraine and Ukrainian control of Crimea, which are non-starters for Moscow.

Instead of going to the summit, Biden will attend a fundraising event in California and is sending Vice President Kamala Harris to take his place. “The vice president will reaffirm support for the people of Ukraine as they defend themselves against ongoing Russian aggression,” a spokesperson for Harris said.

The spokesperson said Harris will “underscore the Biden-Harris administration’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s effort to secure a just and lasting peace.”

The Israeli government statistics said 120 detainees remain in Gaza, 43 of whom have been declared dead in absentia by Israeli officials based on various sources of information, including intelligence tip-offs, CCTV or bystander videos, and forensic analysis.

Some officials believe the number of dead to be higher.

Kremlin: Western Troops in Ukraine Have ‘No Immunity’ from Russian Strikes

The Kremlin warned on Tuesday (June 4) that there will be “no immunity” from Russian strikes for Western troops deployed to Ukraine to train Ukrainian forces, a warning that comes as France is planning a deployment.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the comments in response to an op-ed by Lee Hockstader that was published in The Washington Post on Monday (June 3).

Hockstader wrote that Russian President Vladimir Putin “might see hitting French troops, if Russian forces can locate them, not only as a way to expose Western divisions but also as a chance to humiliate [French President] Macron, now among the most hawkishly anti-Russian Western leaders.”

According to RT, Peskov said, “The fact is that any instructors who are involved in training the military of the Ukrainian regime do not have any immunity. And it doesn’t matter whether they are French or not.”

According to a report from Reuters, France might announce its plans to deploy a few hundred military trainers to Ukraine following a meeting between Macron and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on June 7.

All the talk about a potential French deployment has highlighted the fact that there is already a small number of NATO special operations troops inside Ukraine (97 as of March 2023). Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned Tuesday that there were already indications French trainers may be in the country and said they were legitimate targets.

Israeli Army Says Over One Third of Captives in Gaza Are Dead

The four captives announced dead by the Israeli army on Monday night were killed by Israeli airstrikes that struck the Gazan city of Khan Yunis

An official Israeli government count said on 4 June that around 120 living Israeli captives currently remain in the Gaza Strip, meaning just over a third of the 251 Israeli soldiers and settlers held captive in Gaza have been killed since 7 October.

A day earlier, the Israeli military announced that four captives held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip have been confirmed dead.

The head of the Israeli army's spokesperson unit, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, disclosed in a video address that the four captives died in Gaza's southern city of Khan Yunis as Israeli soldiers were conducting an operation in the area.

Representatives of the Israeli army notified the families of the four captives, Chaim Perry, Yoram Metzger, Amiram Cooper, and Nadav Popplewell, who had been taken captive by the Palestinian resistance during Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on 7 October 2023.

According to Hagari, Israeli–British national Popplewell died after succumbing to wounds caused by Israeli airstrikes. Back in December, Hamas published a video of three of the four remaining captives.

On 30 May, Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi told relatives of Israeli captives held in Gaza that the Netanyahu government would only reach a deal to bring back their loved ones if it provided a political benefit.

Since the start of the war, the Israeli government and army have demonstrated negligence over the lives of the captives, as Israelis continuously take to the streets calling for a hostage release deal with Hamas.

‘We Do Not Recognize the ICC’: Joe Biden

In a wide-ranging interview, the US president hinted that Israel’s prime minister is prolonging the war for his own interests

US President Joe Biden said in an interview with Time magazine, published on 4 June, that Washington does not recognize the International Criminal Court (ICC), which is currently seeking arrest warrants against Israeli leaders for war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

In response to a question about whether Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza, Biden said that “it’s uncertain” and is being “investigated by the Israelis themselves,” adding: “The ICC is something that we don’t, we don't recognize.”

Tel Aviv and Washington are not among the 124 signatories of the ICC Rome Statute of 1998, which established genocide as one of four core international crimes.

Upon the ICC decision to seek arrest warrants against Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, US officials threatened the ICC with sanctions. Mike Johnson, Republican Speaker of the US House of Representatives, called last month for ICC prosecutor Karim Khan to be put “back in his place,” adding that “aggressive legislation” against The Hague-based court was in the works.

During the interview with Time, Biden was asked about ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal in the Gaza Strip.

“The Israelis desperately want a ceasefire in order to get the hostages home,” the US President said, blaming Hamas for the delay and saying that the group “could end this tomorrow.”

On 31 May, Biden made a speech during which he presented a new proposal for a ceasefire and exchange deal, which includes a permanent cessation of hostilities and a full withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

Biden said that the proposal was offered by Israel. An Israeli official close to Netanyahu said that Tel Aviv had agreed to the proposal, albeit reluctantly. Hamas said it was positively viewing the new initiative.

On Monday, however, the Israeli premier effectively disowned the initiative and said that no permanent ceasefire would be accepted. He confirmed Israel’s intention to continue the war as soon as Israeli prisoners were returned, a violation of the terms of the new proposal.
