Bombshell testimony from Dr. Anthony Fauci reveals he made up the six foot social distancing rule and other measures to 'protect' Americans from covid.
Republicans put out the full transcript of their sit down interview with Fauci from January just days before his highly-anticipated public testimony on Monday.
They plan to grill him about covid restrictions he put in place, that he admitted didn't do much to 'slow the spread' of the virus.
Speaking to counsel on behalf of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic earlier this year, Fauci told Republicans that the six foot social distancing rule 'sort of just appeared' and that he did not recall how it came about.
'You know, I don't recall. It sort of just appeared,' he said according to committee transcripts when pressed on how the rule came about.
He added he 'was not aware of studies' that supported the social distancing, conceding that such studies 'would be very difficult' to do.
In addition to not recalling any evidence supporting social distancing, Fauci also told the committee's counsel that he didn't remember reading anything to support that masking kids would prevent COVID.
'Do you recall reviewing any studies or data supporting masking for children?' he was asked.
'I might have,' he responded before adding 'but I don't recall specifically that I did.'
The pandemic patriarch also testified that he had not followed any studies after the fact regarding the impacts that forced mask wearing had on children, of which there have been many.
And his answer was an ironic COVID-esque pun, 'I still think that's up in the air,' Fauci said about whether masking kids was a solid way to prevent transmission.
Further, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) told the counsel that he believes the lab leak theory - the idea that COVID began at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) - is a real 'possibility.'
'I think people have made conspiracy aspects from it,' he said, adding 'it could be a lab leak.'
'So I think that in and of itself isn't inherently a conspiracy theory, but some people spin off things from that that are kind of crazy.'

US State Department Falsified Report To Claim Israel ‘Not Blocking Gaza Aid’
US law says that weapons may not provided to governments blocking US-supplied humanitarian aid
The US State Department falsified a report to absolve Israel of blocking humanitarian aid from entering Gaza, disregarding the judgment of its own internal experts, the Guardian reported on 31 May.
According to Stacy Gilbert, a former senior US official who resigned this week, the report initially made clear that Israel was blocking US-provided humanitarian aid from reaching Gaza, based on the consensus of State Department experts consulted to draft the report.
Gilbert was one of the department’s subject matter experts who drafted the report mandated under National Security Memorandum 20 (NSM-20) and published on 10 May.
However, higher-ranking State Department officials edited the draft of the report, changing the conclusion to suggest that Israel was not blocking aid.
Gilbert resigned earlier this week from her post as senior civil-military adviser in the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration in response to the change....
The change in the report’s conclusion assured that the US could continue to export weapons to Israel amid its ongoing assault on Gaza, which has killed over 35,000 people. Hundreds of thousands more are at risk of starvation.
Under a clause in the Foreign Assistance Act, the US is obliged to cut arms sales and security assistance to any country that has blocked the delivery of US aid.
Since 7 October, Israeli leaders have openly stated they wish to prevent food and other aid from entering Gaza, while the Israeli army has killed aid workers, police providing security to aid convoys, and Palestinian civilians seeking to collect food aid.

China Lands on 'Dark Side' of Moon
After a month-long journey, a Chinese spacecraft has landed on the far side of the moon, the China National Space Administration said.
Chinese space administration officials have said they intend to collect rock and soil from this notoriously difficult-to-reach region of the lunar surface for the first time in history, the CNSA said.
"Everyone is very excited that we might get a look at these rocks no-one has ever seen before," Professor John Pernet-Fisher, who specializes in lunar geology at the University of Manchester, told the BBC.
...Chang'e 6 will now begin a three-day exploration of the lunar surface, gathering material as part of a mission that the CNSA said would include "many engineering innovations, high risks and great difficulty."
Most prominently, the Chang'e 6 will seek to extract some of the oldest known rocks to exist on the lunar south pole.
Pernet-Fisher said the chance to analyze rocks and other objects from a completely different part of the moon could answer fundamental questions about how planets form.
Most of the rocks collected so far are volcanic, similar to what we might find in Iceland or Hawaii, he said. But the material on the far side would have a different chemistry.
"It would help us answer those really big questions, like how are planets formed, why do crusts form, what is the origin of water in the solar system?" Pernet-Fisher said.

Stoltenberg Shrugs Off Putin’s Warnings About NATO Weapons Striking Targets Inside Russia
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday (May 31) shrugged off warnings from Russian President Vladimir Putin against NATO countries allowing Ukraine to strike Russian territory with Western weapons.
“This is nothing new. It has … been the case for a long time that every time NATO allies are providing support to Ukraine, President Putin is trying to threaten us to not do that,” Stoltenberg told reporters during a NATO foreign ministers meeting in Prague. “And an escalation—well, Russia has escalated by invading another country.”
Stoltenberg’s comments came after the US and several other NATO countries gave Ukraine the greenlight to strike Russian territory near Kharkiv. The step marks a significant escalation in the proxy war and could provoke a major response from Russia despite Stoltenberg downplaying the risks.
Putin warned there would be “serious consequences” for any NATO countries that lift the restriction on Ukraine’s use of its weapons. Moscow previously warned the UK that it would respond to Ukraine using British weapons on Russian territory with strikes on UK military sites in Ukraine “and beyond.”

Ottawa’s Hidden Agenda: Bill C-26 Aims for Secret Surveillance Backdoors
Canada’s Bill C-26, currently making its way through the country’s parliament, includes “secretive” provisions that can be used to break encryption, researchers are warning.
As far as its sponsors are concerned, Bill C-26 is cyber security legislation intended to amend the Telecommunications Act and other related acts.
But the way the Telecommunications Act will be amended is by allowing the government to force companies operating in that industry to include backdoors in networks protected by encryption, a pair of University of Toronto’s Citizen Lab researchers suggest.
In case the government decides its surveillance needs require altering “the 5G encryption standards that protect mobile communications”—then this can also be done, should C-26 become law.
This raises several important questions, such as whether the bill’s purpose might be precisely to undermine encryption, considering that the government decided not to include amendments in the text that would prevent this.
Another worrying aspect is that given the already lacking level of security in the telecommunications space, the government would be expected to try to fix the existing problems, rather than create new ones, the researchers note.

Netanyahu Unwilling to Rescue Captives ‘Without Political Benefits’: Report
From the beginning of the war, Israeli ministers have prioritized destroying and ethnically Gaza over winning the release of captives taken by Hamas on 7 October..
On 30 May, Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi told relatives of Israeli captives held in Gaza that the Netanyahu government would only reach a deal to bring back their loved ones if it provided a political benefit.
“He said that if there is a way in which they can bring about the return of the hostages – it is if polls tell the government that from a political point of view, it will pay off,” Gil Dickmann told Army Radio. Dickmann’s cousin, Carmel Gat, is being held captive by Hamas in Gaza.
One day before, Hanegbi was quoted by Channel 12 as saying the government would not stop the war to free the remaining captives.
On 7 October, as the Hamas operation ... was underway, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich urged the Israeli army to aggressively attack Hamas without regard for the captives...
Israeli media later reported that on 7 October, the army issued the Hannibal Directive, ordering the killing of fellow Israelis to prevent them from being taken back to Gaza as captives by Hamas. [Hamas] sought to take captives to exchange them for some of the thousands of Palestinians held captive in Israeli prisons.
Israeli forces opened fire on Hamas fighters and Israeli civilians alike using heavy weapons from attack helicopters, tanks, and drones.

From the beginning of the war, Israeli ministers have prioritized destroying and ethnically Gaza over winning the release of captives taken by Hamas on 7 October..
On 30 May, Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi told relatives of Israeli captives held in Gaza that the Netanyahu government would only reach a deal to bring back their loved ones if it provided a political benefit.
“He said that if there is a way in which they can bring about the return of the hostages – it is if polls tell the government that from a political point of view, it will pay off,” Gil Dickmann told Army Radio. Dickmann’s cousin, Carmel Gat, is being held captive by Hamas in Gaza.
One day before, Hanegbi was quoted by Channel 12 as saying the government would not stop the war to free the remaining captives.
On 7 October, as the Hamas operation ... was underway, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich urged the Israeli army to aggressively attack Hamas without regard for the captives...
Israeli media later reported that on 7 October, the army issued the Hannibal Directive, ordering the killing of fellow Israelis to prevent them from being taken back to Gaza as captives by Hamas. [Hamas] sought to take captives to exchange them for some of the thousands of Palestinians held captive in Israeli prisons.
Israeli forces opened fire on Hamas fighters and Israeli civilians alike using heavy weapons from attack helicopters, tanks, and drones.

The two countries have been promoting their own domestic payment systems as a reliable alternative
Moscow and Beijing are developing a system of settlements which could allow cross-border transactions without the use of the Western financial messaging system SWIFT, Russian Presidential Business Rights Commissioner Boris Titov has revealed.
Addressing the results of the “Russia and China: Cooperation in a New Era” international conference held in Moscow last week, Titov told TASS the two countries have accelerated efforts to move away from SWIFT to trade using their respective national currencies.
“Many regional banks are already replacing it (SWIFT) with the Chinese analogue CIPS,” the official said on Monday, adding that the Chinese system’s use for payments in yuan will continue to expand.
Titov is also the Russian Chairman of the China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development.
Moscow has been promoting its own domestic payment system as a reliable alternative to SWIFT since many of the country’s banks were disconnected from the Western financial network in 2022.
Russia’s SPFS interbank messaging system was created in 2014, and functions like SWIFT. It ensures the secure transfer of financial messages between banks both inside and outside the country.
In January, the Bank of Russia said that 557 banks and foreign organizations from 20 countries had received access to SPFS.

Report: Israeli Officials Think Netanyahu Remarks Could Sabotage Ceasefire Deal
Israeli officials are worried that recent comments from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could sabotage the chances of the Gaza ceasefire proposal put forward by President Biden, Axios reported on Monday.
The Israeli officials said there was “constructive ambiguity” in the proposal that could allow Israel and Hamas to enter the first phase of the deal, which involves a six-week truce and initial hostage and prisoner exchange, without Israel committing to a permanent ceasefire.
A permanent ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza has been Hamas’s main demand for a hostage deal. But since Biden outlined the potential agreement, Netanyahu and his close aides have said Israel would not agree to a permanent ceasefire until it achieves its goals, which include “destroying” Hamas’s capabilities.
Under the potential deal, the two sides would negotiate the terms for a permanent ceasefire during the first phase. A senior Israeli official told Axios that Netanyahu was “killing” the ambiguity by ruling out a permanent truce.
“Instead of keeping things ambiguous, his statements are pushing Hamas to ask for more clarification, making it harder to get a deal,” a second Israeli official said.
The official added that it appeared Netanyahu was trying to placate Ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir, who are threatening to resign and bring down the coalition government if the war cabinet agrees to the deal.
