NYP: Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘Black Book’ With 221 Additional High-Profile Names Is Being Sold to a Secret Bidder — Two Days Ago

Jeffrey Epstein is going to name names — again.

A mysterious “black book” believed to belong to the late pedophile financier, which revealed the names and addresses of 221 previously undisclosed people, is going up for auction — and bidders are being assured that their identities will be kept secret.

It could fetch up to $200,000 — or more, the auction house owner told the Daily Beast, which first reported the story...

The book was reportedly found on Fifth Avenue in the East Village by a female musician in the 1990s, but how it came to be there remains unclear to this day.

What is clear is that the book names 349 people — 221 of whom were not named in a later, more famous “black book” that Epstein kept.

The book was the subject of an in-depth investigation by Business Insider in 2021.

Many of the people contacted by Insider said their relationship with Epstein was either fleeing or nonexistent...

...The address book, believed to be from 1997, will go up for private sale by Alexander Historical Auctions, along with a forensic examiner’s report verifying its authenticity, on May 15.

...In 2015, the now-defunct blog Gawker leaked the contents of Epstein’s first, more recent black book with names including Michael Bloomberg, Bill Clinton, Trump, Mick Jagger and Prince Andrew.

...News of the black book auction comes just five months after dozens of notable names — including royalty, politicians and famous scientists — appeared in an avalanche of previously sealed court documents related to the convicted pedophile.

UN Says Gaza Reconstruction Can Take 80 Years, Cost $40BN

Israel's genocidal war has left more rubble inside the small coastal enclave than Russian attacks have left in Ukraine since 2022

Repairing the vast damage Israel has caused in Gaza during its genocidal war is expected to take approximately 80 years if the pace follows the trend of previous conflicts, according to an assessment released on 2 May by the UN Development Programme (UNDP).

However, if the trend is broken and construction materials are delivered “five times faster” than in 2021 – the last time Israel conducted a sustained carpet bombing campaign of Gaza – reconstruction efforts could be done “by 2040.”

Abdullah al-Dardari, the Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States, told The National on Thursday that the agency estimates Gaza’s reconstruction will cost nearly $40 billion.

“Some donors have to be aware that they will have to take a risk by investing a little bit of money,” he told the Emirati news agency. “That’s why we said let’s have $2 billion [at first], a process that allows us to provide [a] dignified livelihood for up to a million Palestinians, that will push the number to up to $3 billion, but still, it’s within reasonable means.”

“We are faced with a dilemma, but no one is willing to invest big amounts of money in Gaza before they see a serious, credible peace process. But to see a serious and credible peace process, again, we don’t know what that would take,” Dardari added.

The UNDP says that over 70 percent of homes in Gaza have been destroyed by Israel over the past six months, warning that the figure could reach 80 or 90 percent as the war rages on. Moreover, the agency says that civil services and communities in the strip “no longer have any type of machinery, they cannot manage solid waste, they cannot provide any municipal services.”

“Unlike previous wars, the destruction in Gaza today is unprecedented in scope and scale and coupled with the loss of homes, livelihoods, natural resources, infrastructure as well as institutional capacities, may have deep and systemic impacts for decades to come,” Rola Dashti, the Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), said in a statement on Thursday.

Netanyahu’s Cabinet Votes to Close Al Jazeera Offices in Israel

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday (May 5) that his government has voted unanimously to shut down the local offices of Qatar-owned broadcaster Al Jazeera, escalating Israel’s long-running feud with the channel at a time when cease-fire negotiations with Hamas—mediated by Qatar—are gaining steam.

According to a statement from Netanyahu’s office, the decision goes into effect immediately. It could include closing the channel’s offices in Israel, confiscating broadcast equipment, preventing the broadcast of the channel’s reports and blocking its websites, among other measures, the statement said.

Israeli media said the vote allows Israel to block the channel from operating in the country for 45 days, according to the decision.

“Al Jazeera reporters harmed Israel’s security and incited against soldiers,” Netanyahu said in the statement. “It’s time to remove the Hamas mouthpiece from our country.”

The extraordinary move is believed to be the first time Israel has ever shuttered a foreign news outlet.

Democratic Lawmaker Indicted on Bribery and Foreign Influence Charges

The Justice Department on Friday (May 3) released an indictment against longtime Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, and his wife, Imelda, charging the pair with bribery and money laundering related to their ties with a bank in Mexico and an oil and gas company controlled by Azerbaijan.

NBC News was first to report that the charges were coming. The congressman and his wife were each released on a $100,000 bond after a first appearance in federal court in Houston, a DOJ spokesperson said Friday afternoon.

According to the indictment, from 2014 to 2021, the Cuellars allegedly accepted roughly $600,000 in bribes from the two foreign entities in exchange for the congressman performing official acts.

“The bribe payments were allegedly laundered, pursuant to sham consulting contracts, through a series of front companies and middlemen into shell companies owned by Imelda Cuellar, who performed little to no legitimate work under the contracts,” the DOJ said in a statement.
