He Helped Create Silk Road — But Ross Ulbricht Should Be Freed
"I first met Ross while he was incarcerated in a high-security detention center in Manhattan awaiting trial, and after he was transferred to federal prison, we formed a closer relationship. The Ross I know is highly educated, insightful, remorseful, humane, and self-aware. He has been a model prisoner for these intervening years, teaching math and yoga and helping fellow prisoners get off drugs and prepare for release. It’s my firm opinion, and the opinion of many prison system and criminal-law experts, that his sentence is disproportionate to his charges and that he deserves clemency. This case indeed reflects just one of the millions of unjust sentences in the long and failed war on drugs, but that’s no excuse to ignore this case or any other that deserves to be heard and corrected. Our justice and carceral systems are long overdue for reform, and we can and should be arguing for clemency in all cases of unjust sentencing.
No matter what one thinks of Ross, Silk Road, or the crimes that may have been committed, 10 years in prison is more than sufficient and customary punishment for those offenses or sins. Ross Ulbricht should be free."

Orangutan in the Wild Applied Medicinal Plant To Heal Its Own Injury, Biologists Say
When a wild orangutan in Indonesia suffered a painful wound to his cheek, he did something that stunned researchers: He chewed plant leaves known to have pain-relieving and healing properties, rubbed the juice on the open wound — and then used the leaves as a poultice to cover his injury.
"This case represents the first known case of active wound treatment in a wild animal with a medical plant," biologist Isabelle Laumer, the first author of a paper about the revelation, told NPR.
...The orangutan is named Rakus. Laumer says he might have picked up the large wound in a fight with a rival male. A few days later, he was seen using a plant to treat his injury. The wound then healed, seemingly without any infection.

Kendrick Lamar and Drake are looking like two knocked-out boxers in the ring after a simultaneous final blow after their diss tracks ("Meet The Grahams" plus "6:16 In LA" and "Family Matters," respectively) dropped yesterday (Friday, May 3). Moreover, both tracks contained a litany of allegations against the other, kicking off with The Boy's claims about K.Dot. In it, he claims that the former TDE MC is still cheating on his fiancée (or wife?) Whitney Alford, who apparently hasn't married him yet despite becoming engaged years ago, and that one of Kendrick's kids with her is not actually his, but rather Dave Free's. He's the Compton lyricist's manager, which obviously paints a pretty nasty picture... that only got nastier.
Furthermore, this all took a backseat for a brief moment when Kendrick Lamar dropped "Meet The Grahams" and his own set of allegations. Many are talking about the claim that Drake is hiding an 11-year-old daughter, which he's already denied on social media. However, a more damning accusation is that Drizzy is part of a sex trafficking ring through OVO. Kendrick is likely alluding to Baka, a rapper and former security guard of the camp who was arrested for human trafficking and whose charges were later dropped.
Drake denied hiding another child but is mute toward the allegations of sex trafficking. In “Meet The Grahams,” Kendrick Lamar levied allegations against Drake and the entire OVO crew.

Jeffrey Epstein is going to name names — again.
A mysterious “black book” believed to belong to the late pedophile financier, which revealed the names and addresses of 221 previously undisclosed people, is going up for auction — and bidders are being assured that their identities will be kept secret.
It could fetch up to $200,000 — or more, the auction house owner told the Daily Beast, which first reported the story...
The book was reportedly found on Fifth Avenue in the East Village by a female musician in the 1990s, but how it came to be there remains unclear to this day.
What is clear is that the book names 349 people — 221 of whom were not named in a later, more famous “black book” that Epstein kept.
The book was the subject of an in-depth investigation by Business Insider in 2021.
Many of the people contacted by Insider said their relationship with Epstein was either fleeing or nonexistent...
...The address book, believed to be from 1997, will go up for private sale by Alexander Historical Auctions, along with a forensic examiner’s report verifying its authenticity, on May 15.
...In 2015, the now-defunct blog Gawker leaked the contents of Epstein’s first, more recent black book with names including Michael Bloomberg, Bill Clinton, Trump, Mick Jagger and Prince Andrew.
...News of the black book auction comes just five months after dozens of notable names — including royalty, politicians and famous scientists — appeared in an avalanche of previously sealed court documents related to the convicted pedophile.
