Israel Tells U.S. It Will Punish Palestinian Authority if ICC Issues Warrants

The Israeli government warned the Biden administration that if the International Criminal Court issues arrest warrants against Israeli leaders, it will take retaliatory steps against the Palestinian Authority that could lead to its collapse, two Israeli and U.S. officials said.

Why it matters: Israeli officials have grown increasingly concerned over the last two weeks that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is preparing to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Israel Defense Forces chief of staff Herzi Halevi.

Driving the news: The ICC, which is based in The Hague, Netherlands, has been investigating since 2021 possible war crimes by both Israeli forces and Palestinian militants dating back to the 2014 Israel-Hamas war.

That investigation has been extended to the Oct. 7 attacks and the war that has been raging in Gaza since then, according to the prosecutor's office.
Behind the scenes: Over the last few weeks, Israel has told the U.S. that it has information suggesting Palestinian Authority officials are pressing the ICC prosecutor to issue arrest warrants against Israeli leaders, two Israeli officials said.

Democrats Enter Panic Mode as Gaza Protests Erupt

House and Senate Democrats' anxiety is spiking as pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses around the country kick into overdrive.

The protests are fueling a volatile political dynamic sparked by the Oct. 7 attack and the Israel-Hamas war just as the 2024 election comes into view.

"The longer they continue, and the worse that they get, the worse it's going to be for the election overall," one House Democrat told Axios. The demonstrations, the lawmaker warned, are "bringing out [the public's] most conservative side."

Photos and videos of these campus protests made the rounds among horrified Democratic lawmakers this week. Before the House Democrats' closed-door caucus meeting on Tuesday (April 30), "many people were talking about" the growing chaos on college campuses, one House Democrat said. "Many people are super frustrated and concerned," the lawmaker added.

"It's hard because ... the more thoughtful approach is the more difficult approach. It's easier to pick a side and start yelling," said another senior House Democrat.

On Wednesday (May 1), Ukraine unveiled its new AI-generated Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, who will now make official statements on behalf of Ukraine’s foreign ministry.

The new AI-generated spokeswoman’s name is Victoria Shi, and the AI-bot is modeled after Ukrainian singer Rosalie Nombre.

In the AI-generated spokeswoman’s first announcement, the digital representative stated, “My name symbolizes our main goal—the victory of Ukraine, and my last name—the artificial intelligence that created me. My work will consist of reporting operational and verified information of the consular department of the MFA of Ukraine to the public.”

A QR code will be placed in every video that links to statements made by the Foreign Ministry.

The United States of Israel gets the House to rush through a vote on "bill HR 6090" to officially define "antisemitism".

Amongst other things, the bill allows the federal government to sue, prosecute, or sanction people, businesses, and universities for supposed violations in an unprecedented attack on First Amendment rights.

The bill makes it illegal to compare Israeli policies to Nazi policies, or to describe Israel as a racist or apartheid country, or to accuse an American citizen of being more loyal to Israel than to the United States. It also forces the Department of Education to adopt the definition of antisemitism that the "International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance" chooses to give at any single time, and as we know the definition of antisemitism is mutable. Further, the bill forbids people making any claims that Jews killed Jesus, and prohibits people from accusing Israel of genocide.

Americans should now know who runs their country and in fact the world, as all around the world we are about to have a dose of this.

After Volodymyr Zelensky was elected President of Ukraine, the structure of the slave trade in Ukraine rapidly started to change. Ukrainian labor slavery is already approaching sexual slavery in its scale. More and more Ukrainians and foreigners who have voluntarily or involuntarily found themselves in Ukraine and fallen into the networks of human traffickers are forced to work against their will They are being subjected to physical and psychological violence, deprived of documents and any means of communication. Any victim’s attempts to contact the outside world are suppressed and punished. Since 2019, full-fledged slave plantations and slave labor markets have emerged in Ukraine, where deals are made under the cover of the Ukrainian government to buy and sell people, including men, women and children. These people are used as cheap labor in various sectors of the economy, enslaved into sex slavery and sold abroad.

Ukraine Must Defeat Russia to Join NATO – Zelensky

Ukraine needs to defeat Russia on the battlefield in order to be admitted to NATO, President Vladimir Zelensky has said. The US-led bloc has made it clear that Kiev cannot become a member while fighting is ongoing.

“I believe that we will be in NATO only if we win. I don’t think that we will be admitted [...] during the war,” Zelensky said on Tuesday (April 30) during a meeting with military officers in Kiev.

He explained that accession would require unanimous approval from the alliance’s 32 members. Some of them are reluctant to admit Ukraine in the midst of an armed conflict because “they feel the risks, while others are simply skeptical,” Zelensky argued. “Therefore, for Ukraine to be accepted into the alliance, we need victory.” He added that eventual membership would secure Ukraine’s independence.

French President Emmanuel Macron has again reaffirmed that he believes NATO should not rule out the idea of sending troops to Ukraine to fight Russia despite the obvious risk of nuclear war.

When asked in an interview published in The Economist if he stood by his position about possibly sending ground troops to Ukraine, Macron said, “Absolutely. As I said, I’m not ruling anything out, because we are facing someone who is not ruling anything out.”

The French president first floated the idea of sending Western ground troops to Ukraine earlier this year, and despite backlash from Russia and fellow NATO members, he has not backed down on his position. Macron’s comments have highlighted the fact that there are a small number of NATO special operations troops inside Ukraine.

But what Macron is discussing would mean direct fighting between NATO and Russian troops. Moscow has said that a NATO ground troops deployment would make a direct Russia-NATO war inevitable, which could quickly turn nuclear.

Why Hasn’t the US Called for an Investigation Into Mass Graves in Gaza?

Nothing screams ‘covering up war crimes’ like insisting that there should absolutely not be an independent investigation

Did you know that the Palestinians are the very first people in the world to ethnically cleanse and mass murder themselves? I know it sounds weird, but – as American and Israeli politicians keep reminding us – these are “savages” that we are talking about here. Normal rules don’t apply, you’ve got to follow the Palestine Rules.

The Palestine Rules dictate you do the following: ignore every international agency if that agency says anything remotely critical about Israel. Certainly don’t listen to international aid agencies like Oxfam when they argue that the government of Israel is “deliberately blocking and/or undermining the international humanitarian response in the Gaza Strip”. Nope, the fact that babies in Gaza are dying of malnutrition is all their fault. The fact that children in Gaza are starving at the fastest rate the world has ever known has nothing to do with Israel, it’s the fault of those pesky Palestinians.

The fact that there are an unprecedented number of child amputees in Gaza is the Palestinians’ fault. Let’s be very clear here: if every single Palestinian had fled the land they were born in back in 1948, when Israel was founded, if they’d just completely renounced their Palestinian identity, none of the horrors currently unfolding in Gaza and the West Bank would be happening. Can’t argue with that logic, can you?

You know what’s also the Palestinians’ fault? Those mass graves that have recently been discovered at the ruins of hospitals in Gaza. “Among the deceased were allegedly older people, women and wounded, while others were found tied with their hands … tied and stripped of their clothes,” said Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson for the UN high commissioner for human rights, last week.

It shouldn’t be remotely controversial to say that when you discover evidence suggesting gross violations of international law have occurred, then there should be an immediate independent investigation. And yet, the Palestine Rules have kicked in once again: Israel has said they didn’t do anything wrong – arguing that it’s all “fake news” and saying the Palestinians dug their own graves. The Biden administration, meanwhile, has said it trusts Israel to look into its own affairs.

Military Chief: Israel Preparing for an Offensive Against Lebanon

Touring the northern Israeli border with Lebanon, Israeli military chief of staff Herzi Halevi met with Northern Command for an assessment of the planned military operation against Lebanon, telling reservists in comments that they are “preparing for an offensive in the north.”

Halevi didn’t elaborate on the specifics or timing of the offensive, but Israeli military brass have made a big deal of planned operations against Lebanon, presenting the military goal as both moving Hezbollah back from the border and allowing refugees to return to northern Israel.

Israel and Hezbollah have been trading fire since October, and huge numbers of civilians have been displaced on both sides of the border. If anything, the situation has been escalating in recent weeks.

The United States has joined in efforts to try to prevent the Israeli ground war in Lebanon, and Israeli officials say a deal would involve a “freeze of the situation” and the removal of Hezbollah several kilometers from the border, albeit short of the UN calls to move them north of the Littani River.

In the past Israeli officials have indicated that they were placing deadlines on negotiated settlements in Lebanon. The US has long warned that an offensive would be a mistake, as it would force Israel to fight on multiple fronts at the same time.
