Israeli War Cabinet Tears at the Seams Following Iranian Strikes

The National Security Minister and Defense Minister have clashed on multiple occasions in the past year regarding how to prosecute its war on Gaza and policy toward West Bank settlers

Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on 15 April, after the Israeli army began preparations to dismantle the illegal Gal Yosef outpost in the occupied West Bank.

“Defense Minister Gallant’s decision to evacuate and destroy buildings on the Gal Yosef farm where 14-year-old Benjamin Achimeir was murdered, even during the week of shiva [mourning], represents terrible obtuseness, moral confusion, security folly, and a violation of the dignity of the dead,” Ben Gvir said.

“Instead of establishing and approving more farms and expanding Jewish settlement, we surrender to the enemy,” the far-right minister said, declaring that “the time has come for the prime minister to consider replacing Minister Gallant.”

The dispute between Ben Gvir and Gallant, both members of Israel's war cabinet, comes amid efforts to plan a response to Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel on Saturday. Iran launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Israeli military bases in response to Israel's attack on the Iranian embassy in Damascus earlier this month.

National Security Minister Ben Gvir has called for Defense Minister Gallant to be fired multiple times over the past year for what Ben Gvir views as Gallant's mistakes in prosecuting the war on Gaza and insufficient support for Jewish settlers in the West Bank, including their use of violence against Palestinians.

Jewish settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories are illegal under international law but remain legal under Israeli law. However, outposts such as Gal Yosef are also illegal under Israeli law. Settlers establish outposts on stolen Palestinian land, hoping the outposts will later be legalized under Israeli law and grow into becoming settlements.

Fourteen-year-old Benjamin Achimeir went missing from the Gal Yosef outpost on Friday. He had been grazing sheep, and the sheep returned to the farm without him, Israeli police said.

WHAT CAUSED THE UAE STORMS & TORRENTIAL RAIN? YES, IT WAS CLOUD SEEDING — Grazia

The NCM confirmed "six trips" for cloud seeding were conducted

Extensive rainfall and storms took over the UAE on Tuesday with work-from-home orders being issued by the government for public sector employees and schools.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) warned residents about the heavy rains that started in the early hours of the day.

Strong winds and torrential downpours were reported in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, while videos of golfball-sized hail in Ras Al Khaimah, Al Ain and parts of the UAE capital also circulated online.

Rain in the UAE: Did cloud seeding cause the storms?

GRAZIA Middle East spoke to a meteorology expert from the NCM, who confirmed that cloud seeding operations had been conducted in the last 24 hours.
The representative also shared details on how many of the trips took place.

“Whenever there are clouds in the sky, we conduct cloud seeding operations. From yesterday till today [Tuesday afternoon], we carried out six trips,”
he said.

It was also confirmed but the representative that we will see a drop in temperatures in the UAE due to the cloud seeding.

Arabian Business: UAE Heavy Rains, Thunder, and More: Inside the NCM’s Cloud Seeding Missions

In an exclusive interview with Arabian Business, UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) Director Alya Al Mazrouei discusses cloud seeding missions, rainfall targets and more

The UAE’s cloud seeding missions have seen tremendous success over the past two decades, positioning it as a leader in the space and one of the first Gulf countries to adopt this technology to increase rainfall and combat water scarcity – especially during the summer months.

In an exclusive interview with Arabian Business, UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) Director Alya Al Mazrouei discussed the process behind these cloud seeding missions, the country’s rainfall targets, and more.

Cloud seeding is a technique used in the UAE to increase rainfall. This is done by putting tiny particles into clouds, which help water droplets come together and form rain.

The UAE National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) is in charge of the UAEREP which controls the cloud seeding operations. They focus on specific clouds in the northeast mountains where it’s more likely to rain in the summer....

The Secret History of Hamas — (@CorbettReport)

So, what is Hamas? Where did it come from? What are its aims? And, most importantly, how did it rise to power in the Gaza Strip?

Isn’t it funny how the establishment “news” makes its audience feel informed even when they’re frighteningly ignorant? An event like the October 7th false flag takes place and suddenly the very same people who couldn’t find Israel on a map are now self-proclaimed experts on the region, dutifully repeating all the talking points about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that they heard on the nightly news.

Of course, when you try to drill down on specifics with these people, you will quickly come to the limits of their knowledge.

Ask them about Hamas, for instance, and you’re likely to hear that Hamas:

is a designated terror group;
is sworn to destroy Israel;
won an election at some point and now runs Gaza as a theocratic terror state; and
consists of cowards who lob rockets into Israel and use women and children as human shields.
As is often the case, there are elements of truth to these regurgitated media soundbites. But the errors and omissions in this pat, Zionist-friendly, mainstream narrative are enough to make those who mindlessly believe it and repeat it not just wrong, but dangerously wrong.

Yes, the unthinking masses who buy into this propaganda are wrong about Israel. It is not the poor, put-upon democratically elected underdog of the Middle East, but a rogue nuclear power and apartheid state that wields an outsized influence on the world through its use of espionage (both real and virtual), subterfuge, lobbying and blackmail. It has been formally rebuked for its ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and stands accused of massacres, atrocities, war crimes and genocide in the latest conflict.

But these propaganda parrots are not only wrong about Israel. They’re wrong about Hamas, too.

Or, at the very least, they don’t know the real history of Hamas.

So, what is Hamas? Where did it come from? What are its aims? And, most importantly, how did it rise to power in the Gaza Strip?

Today, let’s answer those questions and dispel, once and for all, the cloud of ignorance hanging over this conflict.

Israeli Debt Doubled Since Beginning of War on Gaza

Analysts predicted last year that Israel would need roughly $53 billion to fuel its war on Gaza

Israel’s finance ministry said on 15 April that the war on Gaza has led to Tel Aviv’s debt increasing twofold last year.

The ministry’s report stated that Israel amassed 160 billion shekels ($43 billion) in debt in 2023, 81 billion shekels ($22 billion) of which were since the start of the war in October. In comparison, Israel raised a total of 63 billion shekels ($17 billion) in debt in all of 2022.

The total debt in 2023 amounted to 62.1 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), up from 60.5 percent in 2022 due to war spending and its shrinking GDP. Israeli public debt is expected to increase to 67 percent in 2024.

The finance ministry said that Israel's public debt increased 8.7 percent last year to 1.1 trillion shekels ($300 billion), partly due to higher inflation and interest rates.

As debts pile up, Israel's GDP continues to spiral.

Bank of Israel Governor Amir Yaron said that the increasingly negative global sentiment towards Israel's war on Gaza may cast a further toll on its economy.

“As the sentiment erodes, then this intangible capital may be damaged, and if it is damaged, it could potentially hurt how investors see us and our capabilities,” Aaron said. “And the more there is such an erosion, the better we will have to be, and work harder to compensate for it.”

In February, reports came out which said that the Israeli economy shrunk by nearly 20 percent in the span of three months at war.

The GPD sunk 19.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2023, according to Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics.

This marked the deepest plunge since the second quarter of 2020 when coronavirus-related lockdowns and their effects on consumer spending brought the market down nearly 30 percent.

Multiple financial firms, from Fitch to Moody's, have downgraded Israel's credit rating as a result of Tel Aviv's war spending.

Top IDF Commander in WCK Aid Strike Wanted to Block Humanitarian Supplies Into Gaza

Investigation shows officer signed a letter to Israel’s War Cabinet demanding a ‘siege’ of Gaza City

The most senior IDF commander dismissed for his role in the drone strike which killed seven aid workers in Gaza is a settler who signed an open letter in January calling for the territory to be deprived of aid, The Telegraph can reveal.

A senior British lawyer said its contents – including a call for a “siege” of Gaza City – should be considered by the Israeli authorities investigating the killings.

Col (Res) Nochi Mandel, the chief of staff of the Nahal Infantry Brigade, was one of two officers dismissed last week following the incident in which three vehicles belonging to the charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) were attacked by drones, killing all those inside, including three Britons.

An investigation by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) characterised the strikes as a “grave mistake” but concluded there was no intentional harm. “Those who approved the strike were convinced that they were targeting armed Hamas operatives and not WCK employees,” it said.

In the letter, Col Mandel, a religious nationalist who lives in a settlement in the occupied West Bank, called with more than 130 other reserve officers and commanders for the flow of aid into Gaza to be restricted.

...The letter was sent on January 20 to the Israeli War Cabinet and the IDF chief of staff and implored them to “do everything in your power” not to allow “humanitarian supplies and the operation of hospitals inside Gaza City” following its evacuation.

...Michael Mansfield KC, head of Nexus Chambers and one of Britain’s leading barristers, said the letter should “absolutely” be considered by those investigating the incident.

“The document is plainly relevant to a particular state of mind,”
Mr Mansfield said. “In other words it is not indicating that the target of the Israeli army is primarily Hamas but Gaza as a whole by weaponising aid under siege conditions."

Kenneth Roth: The most senior Israeli commander "dismissed for his role in the drone strike which killed seven aid workers" for World Central Kitchen in Gaza "is a settler who signed an open letter in January calling for the territory to be deprived of aid."

Iran Attack Puts Israeli Rafah Invasion on Ice: Report

An Israeli military response to Iran's attack would take resources away from continuing the genocide in Gaza

Israel was on the verge of launching a ground offensive on the Gazan city of Rafah but delayed the campaign after Iran launched a massive retaliatory attack on Israel over the weekend, CNN reported on 15 April.

Citing Israeli sources, CNN reported that the Israeli Air Force was set to begin dropping leaflets on parts of Rafah on Monday in preparation for a ground offensive into Rafah – Gaza’s southernmost city where more than 1 million displaced Palestinians are sheltering from Israel’s six-month bombing campaign.

Those plans were allegedly halted after Iran launched an attack of some 300 missiles and drones toward Israel late Saturday. Most were intercepted by Israeli anti-missile systems, but several missiles successfully penetrated Israel’s vaunted defenses and hit a key military base and intelligence collection center.

Israel’s war cabinet spent Sunday and Monday debating a possible response to the Iranian attack...

CNN wrote that according to one Israeli official, “Israel remains determined to carry out a ground offensive in Rafah, although the timing of civilian evacuations and the coming ground offensive remains unclear at the moment.”

The Israeli military declined to comment.

Netanyahu has publicly threatened to invade Rafah for months, claiming it is necessary to dismantle Hamas’s remaining battalions. UN officials and aid workers have warned an invasion of the border city would result in a “bloodbath” due to the roughly 1.4 million civilians concentrated there, including many living in tents and with no safe place to flee.

💸 Bank of Japan Brings Negative Rate Experiment to a Close

It was bad for society and only helped the central planners to consolidate. But what does it mean for the economy?

For those who believe that interest rates are a key driving force in the economy and markets the higher rates provided however few reasons to fret: while higher rates are often said to slow economic growth, the Bank of Japan only raised rates from –0.1% to the range of zero to 0.1%. Not earth-shattering.

But there are those – like myself – who have said many years ago that negative or zero interest rates are not a good idea: instead of stimulating the economy, they do the opposite: They impose a penalty on the banks and this usually has negative consequences for the customers of banks, especially those key players in the economy that employ the majority of the workforce in the country, namely small and medium-sized enterprises: it is well-established in the economic research literature that the small firms are largely dependent on borrowing from banks for external funding.

Israel To Take ‘Less Aggressive’ Approach to Iran Response: Report

The US believes Israel may choose to target 'Iranian proxies' such as Hezbollah in Syria rather than directly attack Iranian territory

Washington believes Israel’s response to Iran’s massive drone and missile strike will be “limited” and will focus on targets outside of Iranian territory, US officials said on 16 April.

Four US officials told NBC that they expect the Israeli response “to be limited in scope and most likely involve strikes against Iranian military forces and Iranian-backed proxies outside Iran.”

The assessment is based on talks between Israeli and US officials prior to Operation True Promise, which saw hundreds of Iranian drones and missiles target Israeli military sites late on 13 April and into the following morning.

“As Israel was preparing for a possible Iranian attack last week, Israeli officials briefed US officials about possible response options,”
the officials added.

However, the officials emphasized that they have not been informed about any final decision and that Tel Aviv’s plans for a response may have shifted since the Iranian operation took place.

Israel had been debating what a potential retaliation to its strike on Iran’s consulate would look like last week, as well as possible Israeli responses to the retaliation – which “ranged from no military action to strikes inside Iran,” NBC said.
