Lloyd Austin Claims There’s ‘No Evidence’ of Genocide in Gaza

Peace activists disrupted a Senate Armed Services Hearing 25 times and told Austin he was complicit in genocide

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin on Tuesday claimed there was “no evidence” of genocide in Gaza despite the massive civilian casualties.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) asked Austin if he believed genocide was being committed in Gaza in response to protesters who disrupted a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. The demonstrators said the US was complicit in genocide by supporting Israel.

“I want to address what the protesters raised earlier. Is Israel committing genocide in Gaza?” Cotton asked.

Austin replied, “We don’t have any evidence of genocide.” His comments align with the US government’s rejection of the International Court of Justice ruling that it’s “plausible” Israel is committing genocide.

According to the antiwar group CODEPINK, peace activists disrupted the hearing 25 times. ” We are obviously here to say stop the complicity, stop the sending of weapons, stop the sharing of intelligence, just killing so many people, just stop the blood on your hands,” said CODEPINK co-founder Medea Benjamin.

One activist who disrupted the hearing said he lost over 100 family members in Israel’s bombardment of Gaza. “Stop killing my people in Gaza. You’re responsible for this genocide; you have killed over 100 members of my family,” the activist said.

The latest numbers from Gaza’s Health Ministry put the death toll at over 33,000, including over 14,000 children, which doesn’t account for thousands of people under the rubble.

15 U.S. AGENCIES KNEW CHINA WAS CREATING COVID-LIKE VIRUS IN 2018

Newly released documents obtained by Sen. Rand Paul revealed a group called DEFUSE went to several U.S. agencies to receive funding to engineer a virus similar to COVID-19.

The virus was intended to be engineered in Wuhan by the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

According to the documents, Dr. Fauci was a partner of the project, and that not one of the 15 agencies made any effort to inform the public about the project.

US Thinks Iranian Retaliation Against Israel Is Imminent

Biden warned Iran that the US commitment to Israel is 'ironclad,' signaling the US could directly intervene

The US and its allies believe Iranian retaliation for the Israeli bombing of Iran’s consulate in Syria is imminent, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday.

Sources told Bloomberg that, based on US and Israeli intelligence, Iran or its allies in the region could launch a major missile and drone attack on military and government targets inside Israel in the coming days.

Axios reported something similar, saying Israel is expecting a direct Iranian attack on its territory launched from Iran’s soil. Israeli sources told the outlet that Israel would respond by launching direct attacks on Iran, which would likely require US support.

A major Iranian response could be exactly what Israel wants, as it appears to be trying to provoke a wider regional war to get the US to intervene directly.

The Axios report said that the top US military commander in the Middle East, Gen. Erik Kurilla, is due to visit Israel on Thursday to coordinate on the potential Iranian attack. President Biden signaled he would directly intervene if Iran attacks Israel in a warning to Tehran he issued on Wednesday.

“We also want to address the Iranian threat to launch a significant – they’re threatening to launch a significant attack in Israel,” Biden said. “As I told Prime Minister Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel’s security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad. Let me say it again, ironclad. We’re gonna do all we can to protect Israel’s security.”

Israel has a history of covert attacks inside Iran and killing Iranians in airstrikes in Syria. Iran is usually restrained in its responses to Israeli attacks, but the bombing of an Iranian diplomatic facility marked a huge escalation.

Social Media Fact Checkers Claim Their Work Isn’t Censorship. Here’s Why It Is.

"Fact-checking" isn't just labeling. It tanks the visibility of posts.

...According to Facebook (Meta) CEO Mark Zuckerberg, posts that get fact-checked experience a 95% drop in clicks. In other words, even if this content is not outright removed, it is made virtually invisible. That’s censorship by any other name.

So how in the world can Poynter claim that activities of those it certifies actually result in “adding to the public debate” rather than suppressing it?

It can, and does. Meanwhile, a report recently published by Meta paints a different picture: the EU that was no doubt happy to share that “fact-checking” reduces users’ attempts to share posts by 47 and 38 percent on Facebook and Instagram, respectively.

Of course, neither Meta nor the EU are offering this data as proof of negative and nefarious efforts resulting in censorship; instead they are treated simply as proof that Meta complies with EU’s “codes” and other rules, also in the end producing more censorship.

But, while patting itself on the back in these ways, Meta unwittingly managed to undermine the credibility of its own “fact-checking partners.”

There’s a comical moment in the Poynter opinion piece (ostensibly, there’s more than one). But, while out to prove it was not trying to distract, distort, or deflect from the facts – the authors said the blog post was there to “commemorate” something called, “International Fact-Checking Day 2024.”

According to an Iranian diplomatic source who spoke to Al-Akhbar on 10 April, Iran has suggested it would abandon plans for a response to the Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus if Israel agrees to a ceasefire and calls off plans for a Rafah Operation.

The source added that Israel is trying to instigate a direct confrontation between Iran and the US, and that recent indirect communications between Tehran and Washington have been aimed at containing such a scenario.

Scoop: Senior U.S General To Visit Israel To Coordinate on Iran Attack Threat

The senior U.S. military commander in charge of the Middle East is expected to go to Israel Thursday to coordinate around a possible attack on Israel by Iran and its proxies, two Israeli officials said.

Why it matters: Iranian officials have publicly threatened to retaliate against Israel for an attack in Syria last week that killed a top Iranian general. An attack on Israel or its bases could lead to another regional escalation.

Gen. Erik Kurilla, commander of the U.S. Central Command, is expected to meet Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and senior Israel Defense Forces officials.

Israeli officials say they are preparing for a possible unprecedented direct attack from Iranian soil using ballistic missiles, drones and cruise missiles against Israeli targets.

In such a scenario, Israel will retaliate with a direct attack against Iran, the officials said.

A U.S. defense official said it was Department of Defense policy to "not discuss flag officer travel for operational security."

Catch up quick: An Israeli strike on Damascus last week killed Brig. Gen. Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a top Iranian Quds Force general in charge of Iran's military operations in Lebanon and Syria.

Zahedi was the most senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officer to be killed since the U.S. assassinated Qasem Soleimani in 2020.

Zahedi was killed along with other Iranian officers in an Israeli strike on a building adjacent to the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.

The Iranians claim the building was a consulate and said the strike is an attack on its soil in violation of international law.

Israeli officials claim it was not a diplomatic facility but a building used by the IRGC for military operations.

6 Ex-officers Who Pleaded Guilty in ‘Goon Squad’ Torture of 2 Black Men Sentenced in State Court

Six former Mississippi law enforcement officers who abused two Black men for hours were sentenced in state court Wednesday to 15 to 45 years in prison.

Their sentences will run concurrently with their federal sentences handed down last month, which range from 10 to 40 years in prison.

The ex-officers had pleaded guilty after the torture of Michael Jenkins and Eddie Parker at a home in January 2023.

AstraZeneca Ordered to Disclose Data Regarding Its COVID Vaccine

🇬🇧💉@COVID19Up: Following the authorization of the coronavirus vaccine developed by the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca, concerning reports emerged. The vaccine, known as “Vaxzevria,” was associated with severe side effects in extremely rare instances.

Some individuals vaccinated experienced thrombosis in the brain or abdominal organs, resulting in fatalities. Initially believed to predominantly affect young women, the vaccine was initially advised only for individuals over 60 in Germany and later not recommended at all.

Questions arose regarding what AstraZeneca knew about these occurrences and whether they could have been prevented. A woman from Upper Franconia, who suffered from thrombosis in the intestine and fell into a coma after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine in March 2021, demanded not only compensation from the pharmaceutical company but also the disclosure of documents from the clinical trials.

A partial victory was achieved by the woman before the Bamberg Higher Regional Court. On Monday (April 8), a civil chamber ruled that the company must provide comprehensive information regarding all known effects and side effects of its coronavirus vaccine, specifically those relevant to the plaintiff’s clinical condition. This encompassed any additional findings gathered between the vaccine’s approval in December 2020 and February 2024.

The clinical condition of the plaintiff is referred to as “thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome” (TTS). This severe thrombosis, occurring extremely rarely not only after vaccinations with AstraZeneca’s COVID vaccine but also with the similar vaccine from Johnson & Johnson, is accompanied by a decrease in blood platelets. It appears to stem from antibodies formed post-vaccination attacking the blood platelets. Both AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson’s COVID vaccines are based on modified cold viruses.
