BIS: Wholesale CBDC Will Be Available Soon in Most Countries

“A modern CBDC at the wholesale level will be developed quite fast and will be a reality quite soon in probably most of the countries of the world,” said Agustin Carstens, General Manager of the BIS, the central bank of central banks.

He argued that a wholesale central bank digital currency (wholesale CBDC) limited to usage by banks doesn’t have the many complications that exist with retail CBDCs that consumers can access. Mr Carstens was talking during the DC Fintech Week.

In June, the BIS(Bank for International Settlements) formally launched its concept of a Unified Ledger in which tokenized bank deposits and wholesale CBDC coexist on the same infrastructure, enabling the settlement of interbank payments using a wholesale CBDC. At the time, Ledger Insights asked the BIS Head of Research Hyun Song Shin about the timing of a Unified Ledger launch, proposing 2027. Mr. Shin said it could happen sooner than that.

Given wholesale CBDCs underpin the Unified Ledger, Mr. Carstens’ ‘soon’ therefore means two to three years.

‘Time to Sanction Israel:’ Belgian Official

Some in the west are beginning to double back on blindly supporting Israel as the war crimes committed in Gaza continue to mount

Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium, Petra De Sutter, told the Flemish newspaper Het Nieuwsblad on 8 November that the EU nation needs to take measures to sanction Israel.

“We cannot look away while children are killed every day in Gaza,” De Sutter said. “It is time for sanctions against Israel. The rain of bombs is inhumane. It is clear that Israel does not care about the international demands for a ceasefire.”

The Belgian official wants, firstly, the EU association agreement with Israel to be immediately suspended. She added that there should be a ban on products from the occupied Palestinian territories and a ban on “violent settlers and for the politicians and soldiers responsible for war crimes.”

“There needs to be an investigation into the bombing of hospitals and refugee camps. This is war violence that can never be passed,” De Sutter said, adding that extra funding should be allocated to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in the Hague.

Regime Change Needed in Israel and Palestine – Clinton

Neither Hamas nor Netanyahu can make peace, the former US presidential candidate has said

The former American first lady, senator, secretary of state, and 2016 presidential front-runner was speaking via video link at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore.

“Hamas is not a partner for any kind of peace or two-state solution,” Clinton told Bloomberg editor-in-chief John Micklethwait. She added that peace might be achieved by the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and whoever ends up in charge of Gaza after the war with Israel.

When asked about Netanyahu’s potential to negotiate a two-state solution, Clinton replied, “I don’t think there is any evidence of that. I think the Israeli people will have to decide about his leadership.”

Clinton also commented on the likelihood of a ceasefire in Gaza, saying that it would “freeze the situation in Hamas’ favor” and is therefore unlikely to be accepted by Israel. Netanyahu might be willing to accept “humanitarian pauses” so that aid could reach the civilians in Gaza and Hamas could release the hostages taken in the October 7 attacks, she added.

According to Clinton, it will be “challenging” for President Joe Biden to get Congress to approve a funding package for both Israel and Ukraine, but possible with “tough negotiations.” The Democrat-majority Senate has blocked the Republican-majority House bill that funded only Israel, insisting on the White House proposal that bundled the two – along with funding for Taiwan and immigration – to the tune of $106 billion.

A senior Biden administration official said the death toll of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is likely far higher than the 10,000 number being reported by the health ministry amid Israel’s war against Hamas.

Barbara Leaf, assistant secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, told a House panel those killed more than one month into the war are likely “higher than is being cited.”

More Than 500 Biden Campaign Alumni Want a Gaza Ceasefire

What a letter from Biden’s field staff and organizers says about how Democrats see the Israel-Hamas war.

For decades, American public opinion and policy on Israel has been near-monolithic. But as Israel’s bombardment and ground incursion of Gaza continues, arguments over Israel policy from inside the Democratic Party and throughout the State Department are spilling out into the open.

That, in and of itself, shows that some Americans within the establishment are processing the current war differently — and may feel more empowered than before to shape the contours of US policy.

President Joe Biden and congressional leaders have defended Israel’s military campaign to eliminate Hamas after the militant group’s October 7 attacks that killed 1,400 people and kidnapped over 200. As the death toll and humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza grows, the president and his team have incrementally adjusted their public messaging, moving from a maximalist embrace of Israel after the attacks to discussing the need for a pause to allow humanitarian aid in, and hostages out. But the Biden administration, unlike the United Nations, World Health Organization, and humanitarian groups, has not advocated for an immediate ceasefire.

That has led to internal dissent and activism within the diplomatic corps and the Democratic Party apparatus, pushing for Biden to urgently adjust his approach.

On Thursday, over 500 alumni of Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign banded together to urge a ceasefire. The signatories include staffers from Biden’s 2020 campaign headquarters, the Democratic National Committee, and state staff and leadership; 21 states are represented, including key battlegrounds like Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. “As President of the United States, you have significant influence in this perilous moment,” the group, named Biden Alumni for Peace and Justice, writes in an open letter shared first exclusively with Vox. “[Y]ou must call for a ceasefire, hostage exchange, and de-escalation, and take concrete steps to address the conditions of occupation, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing at the root of the horrific violence we are witnessing now.”

“This is a rupture that’s happening,” Matan Arad-Neeman, an Israeli American activist who worked as a field organizer in Arizona and signed the letter, told me. The letter notes that 66 percent of voters think the US should call for a ceasefire, according to a recent Data for Progress survey.

Egypt Rejects Plan to ‘Eradicate’ Hamas: Report

The CIA director reportedly pressed Cairo into 'managing' security in Gaza until the Palestinian Authority 'can take over after Hamas'

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi told CIA director William Burns during a recent meeting that Egypt will not play a role in eradicating Hamas, Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on 8 November.

“CIA Director William Burns discussed with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi and the head of Egyptian intelligence, Abbas Kamel, a proposal for the North African country to manage security in the Gaza Strip until the Palestinian Authority can take over after Hamas’s defeat,” WSJ cites senior Egyptian officials as saying.

“Sisi rejected the proposal, saying Egypt won’t play a role in eliminating Hamas because it needs the militant group to help maintain security at the border,” WSJ added.

Burns met with Sisi in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on 7 November, during which they discussed efforts for a ceasefire, the need to protect civilians and secure aid access, and the need to continue coordination to address the crisis in Gaza.

The meeting comes as Tel Aviv and Washington have been holding discussions on who will administer post-war Gaza, as Israel has announced plans to dismantle and eradicate Hamas.

Biden’s Secrecy on Arms Transfers to Israel Unnerves Some Democrats

President Biden faces growing pressure from allies in Congress to publicly disclose the scope of U.S. arms being funneled to Israel, as the enormous civilian death toll in Gaza draws international condemnation and increasingly unsettles Democrats.

Contrary to its military aid program for Ukraine, which saw the Pentagon release recurring fact sheets about the volume of U.S. arms transfers, the administration has not made public the quantities of weapons it is sending to Israel. The administration is also pushing for the authority to bypass notification requirements to Congress that apply to every other country receiving military financing.

Man Claiming To Be Former Driver For Zelensky’s Wife’s Foundation Makes Video Accusing The Foundation of Involvement In Child Sex Trafficking

A wild story out of Ukraine claims the wife of the nation’s puppet President Volodymyr Zelensky is operating a sex trafficking network where displaced Ukrainian children are offered to known pedophiles worldwide.

Olena Zelenska is Zelensky’s wife, who launched the foundation in New York City back in September 2022 alongside suspected human trafficker Hillary Clinton, celebrities Matt Damon, Jimmy Fallon, and others.

A man who claims to be a former employee of Ukrainian First Lady Olena Zelenska’s foundation says that the Olena Zelenska Foundation was involved with child sex trafficking. As a driver of supposedly war-endangered children, the man says that he was forced to drive children from cities in Ukraine and deliver them to pedophiles elsewhere in Europe, including in extremely wealthy and well-connected areas in London and Berlin.

A little-seen video on Youtube entitled “La Fondation Olena Zelenska est impliquée dans le trafic d’enfants” reveals the claims of a masked man who says that he transported children out of Ukraine for Olena Zelenska’s foundation, and at least one of the children made him believe that the foundation was engaging in child sex trafficking. The video was uploaded by the account “Daniel Schmidt.”

As noted by TheIntelDrop.org, the whistleblower provided photos of Olena Zelenska Foundation documents and his personal work identification card to lend credibility to his accusations. Also acknowledged, the Olena Zelenska Foundation launched in New York City in September 2022 with a star-studded event. The launch of Olena’s foundation was hosted by the Metropolitan Opera and the guests included Democrat politician Hillary Clinton and celebrities Matt Damon and Jimmy Fallon, among others.

The Zelenska Foundation takes a special interest in overseeing “war orphans,” with the Ukraine government accusing Russia of kidnapping thousands of kids.

The man in the video makes his claims over the course of more than eight minutes speaking in French. The quotes below come word for word from the English closed captioning translation service on Youtube.

“So, here I am recording this video to tell you about what happened in Olena Zelenska’s Foundation when I worked there. After I finish, I’ll send you this video via email together with the documents, all the facts of what had happened. To start my story, it was here in France. I had a friend there who worked with different foundations. And he was the one who told me that there is a foundation that pays well in Ukraine, which offers good conditions. And so, I thought, why not? So, I contacted this foundation and then I prepared my documents and I went to Ukraine. When I came, I came to work there as a driver. They offered me this job and I signed the contract. Even the contract was something bizarre. There were clauses, for example, in the contract, that said we must not talk with children, we must not ask questions about host families, things like that. For me it was weird, but I thought, well, I’m a driver it’s not my business. I signed the contract. After signing the contract, I was given the pass. This one. Here’s the pass,” the man said in the video, before showing documentation.

Pesticides, Herbicides, Fungicides Detected in New York State Beeswax

An analysis of beeswax in managed honeybee hives in New York found a wide variety of pesticide, herbicide and fungicide residues—exposing current and future generations of bees to long-term toxicity.

The study, published in the Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation, notes that people may be similarly exposed through contaminated honey, pollen and wax in cosmetics. Though the chemicals found in wax are not beneficial to humans, the small amounts in these products are unlikely to pose a major risk to human health, as compared to their impact on bees.

Bees reuse wax over years, causing chemicals to accumulate, including those that are no longer in use in New York but remain in beeswax.

US Corporate Media Outlets Allow IDF to Vet ‘All Materials’ From Embedded Reporters in Gaza

"Israel is killing the journalists that expose their crimes, then bribing the journalists that cover for them," said one critic.

U.S. corporate media outlets have granted Israeli military commanders pre-publication review rights for “all materials and footage” recorded by their correspondents embedded with the Israel Defense Forces during the invasion of Gaza, a precondition condemned by press freedom advocates.

“Journalists embedded with the IDF in Gaza operate under the observation of Israeli commanders in the field, and are not permitted to move unaccompanied within the Gaza Strip,” Fareed Zakaria, host of CNN‘s “Fareed Zakaria GPS,” explained in a segment on Sunday.

“As a condition to enter Gaza under IDF escort, outlets have to submit all materials and footage to the Israeli military for review prior to publication,” he added. “CNN has agreed to these terms in order to provide a limited window into Israel’s operations in Gaza.”

Everybody Wants Gaza's Gas

The $500 billion windfall shoring up EU supplies

While its citizens take to the streets demanding a ceasefire, the silence of Europe’s leaders is deafening. Allyship runs deep, apparently, although their weak calls for “humanitarian pauses” are ignored by the Israeli state which has rained down more bombs on Gaza in the past weeks than in the years combined. Over 8,000 are dead, unable to escape the onslaught as hospitals and refugee camps are targeted. Amnesty International estimates more children have been killed in Gaza than in the past year in every other conflict zone.

Still, Biden and his European pets champion Israel’s right to defend itself, suggesting the Palestinian Health Authority is inflating the numbers of their dead. The UN can only squawk while international law is revealed, yet again, to be upheld only when enemies break it, as Israel cuts off water, food, electricity and the internet to 2 million people trapped in the world’s biggest open-air prison, delivering collective punishment for the heinous crimes of Hamas on October 7.

But while bombs rain down, business continues as usual, with Israel granting 12 licences to six companies to explore for natural gas off the country's Mediterranean coast on October 30th. This is the latest venture to exploit one of several gas fields discovered on the Mediterranean coast over recent decades, aiming to solve Israel’s energy dependency and, crucially, Europe’s supplies.

The total oil and gas reserves were valued at a staggering $524 billion in 2019. But Israel does not have sole legal entitlement to the $524 billion, according to a UN report published in the same year. Not only is some of the $524 billion sourced from within the Occupied Territory of Palestine, much of the rest sits outside national borders in the deep sea, and thus should be shared with all relevant parties. The report questions the national right to these resources given they took millions of years to form—and that Palestinians occupied the whole territory until Israel’s recent formal creation.

The authors also note it is another war crime for the occupying power to deny the citizens the right to use their own natural resources, including diverting Palestine’s water supply, cutting off access to their fisheries, grabbing agricultural land and destroying olive groves. The financial costs are massive.

....Israel’s invasion of Gaza in December 2008 brought the Palestinian gas fields under Israeli control—without regard for international law. BGG has been dealing with the Israeli government ever since. The UN estimates billions of dollars in loss for the Palestinian people.

But more gas for everyone else.
