Iraq Signs Five-Year Natural Gas Deal with Iran
The deal comes after Iraq’s prime minister promised to achieve energy self-sufficiency within two months
Iraqi Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fazel signed a five-year natural gas import contract with an Iranian company on 27 March, according to the Ministry of Electricity.
The agreement signed by the two parties states that 50 million cubic meters of gas will be imported daily..
Natural gas imports will continue until the rehabilitation and development of domestic gas fields meet the levels required to meet Iraq's needs.
"The Ministry of Electricity is nearing completion of preparations for the summer season, from renovating power plants to having new power plants, such as Dubz, Okaaz, and Musayb station, as well as rehabilitation of electricity networks and transmission lines,” Ali Fazel told Rudaw.
According to a spokesman for the Ministry of Electricity, the plan will be completed by 1 May. Current electricity production is at 19,000 to 20,000 megawatts per day. With the completion of the plan, it will reach 27,000 megawatts.
The spokesman added that they plan to add an extra 5,000 megawatts of electricity to Iraq’s national grid by the end of this year.
This deal comes after Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani said that Iraq would become fully self-sufficient in oil within two months and cease needing imports.
...Sudani also stated in 2023 that Iraq would end reliance on Iranian oil imports within a three-year period.

"I'm a Google software engineer and I refuse to build technology that powers genocide or surveillance!"
Its rare for a software engineer to rise up and publicly shame their employer, but that's exactly what a courageous Google Cloud software engineer did last week at an NYC tech conference.
He was quickly thrown out, along with another activist and freelance journalist who's video of the event went viral.
The software engineer referred to project Nimbus, a 1.2B technology contract between the Israeli Occuptation Forces, Amazon, and Google that gives advanced AI from the Google Cloud platform for facial detection, object tracking, and sentiment analysis - of course no doubt will be used against the Palestinian people and even against Israel's own population.
The 'No Tech for Apartheid" organization was protesting the conference that day and has made a statement after the Google Cloud software engineer was fired from their job.
This is the second worker associated with the No Tech For Apartheid campaign that Google has retaliated against for organizing within their workplace, and the latest in a series of cases in which Google has retaliated against workers for speaking up about the corporation’s ethical malpractice in a range of business decisions.
...
While terminating this brave worker, Google HR asked how they were feeling. The worker replied: “proud to be fired for refusing to be complicit in genocide.”
Its inspiring to see other individuals in tech rise up against tech tyranny, they are able to see clearly when it comes to injustice against vulnerable populations. On the other hand, it seems like the activists aren't able to see through the COVID propaganda that's literally muzzling them.

Republican Gov Henry McMaster assured the public that 'no money was lost'
South Carolina has collected about $1.8 billion in a bank account over the past decade and state and private accountants are still trying to figure out where the cash came from and where it was supposed to go.
“It’s like going into your bank and the bank president tells you we have a lot of money in our vault but we just don’t know who it belongs to,” said Republican Sen. Larry Grooms, who is leading a Senate panel investigating the problem.

Netanyahu’s Party Blames Opposition for Driving Wedge With Washington
Likud members also accused Israeli officials of trying to overthrow the government
Internal divisions within the Israeli government are reportedly deepening following Washington’s abstention from the latest resolution at the UN Security Council.
Members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party have accused Benny Gantz, a war cabinet member and opposition leader of the National Unity Party, of further straining the relationship between Washington and Tel Aviv.
Hebrew news site Ynet reported on 27 March that “relations between Benjamin Netanyahu and Joe Biden “are at an unprecedented low,” adding that “the Prime Minister's party blames” Gantz for this.
“The rift in relations between Israel and the United States reached a new peak after Washington did not veto the Security Council's decision … in Likud they specifically point to Minister Benny Gantz as the one to blame for the crisis with the White House,” it cites ministers and Knesset members as saying.
Ynet added that both Gantz and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant – a Likud member himself – have “teamed up” in order to “lead to elections” and overthrow the government.
Gantz traveled to Washington in early March for talks with US officials, which enraged Netanyahu, who said he did not authorize the visit. The Israeli premier has yet to receive an invitation to the US capital.
The Ynet report comes one day after Gallant’s visit to the US, which marked the second official Israeli visit since Gantz’s trip to Washington. Gallant’s trip aimed to quicken the supply of US weapons to Israel and discuss preparations for escalation against Hezbollah, according to a Haaretz analysis.
Similar to what Ynet wrote, the Haaretz piece also said that Gallant’s aim is to “bring down” Israel’s current government.
The US abstained from a UN Security Council Resolution on 25 March, demanding an immediate temporary ceasefire in Gaza. Netanyahu, who was expecting a veto, decided to respond by canceling an Israeli delegation's visit to Washington aimed at discussing the planned attack on Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah and possible alternatives.
The cancellation left Gallant “alone in DC,” The Times of Israel reported, adding that the war minister attempted to smooth over tensions between the US and Israel. Netanyahu has also blamed the collapse of truce negotiations on Washington, which did not explicitly condition a ceasefire on the release of Israeli prisoners in Gaza.
The tension comes as members of the Israeli government are embroiled in a deep dispute over a draft law that seeks to extend the exemption of the ultra-orthodox community from military service.
Gantz, Gallant, and other officials are vehemently opposed to the bill and assert that all members of Israeli society must bear the burden of military service, particularly during a war when the army faces a serious manpower crisis.

I Calculated How Much of My Money the U.S. Sent to Kill Palestinians. You Can Too.
As Americans, our money is paying for Israel’s atrocities in Gaza. How much did you give?
I’ve been asking myself: How much money am I, personally, contributing to Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories and its attack on Gaza?
The Israeli assault on Gaza launched after the October 7 attacks by Hamas has so far killed more than 20,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including thousands of children and over 100 journalists. Nearly 90 percent of the territory’s residents have been displaced, and it has been called “one of this century’s most destructive wars.”
So how much have I chipped in to create this hell on earth?
The best answer I’ve come up with is $150.
There are two ways of looking at this number.
One is that this is a relatively small amount of money. Another is that the U.S. is so astonishingly rich and powerful that we as a country can mete out overwhelming brutality to others and barely notice as individuals. This is, in part, what makes the dollar amount of my contribution especially horrifying.
...You can figure out your own contribution if you want: Add your income taxes to any federal bonds you bought this year and multiply that number by 0.004. It’s easy, but not very fun.
At that point, you may ask yourself: What can I do about this, beyond trying to stop this war?
There is a long history of tax resistance in America. However, technology has made it easier for the government to track where all your money is, and if you refuse to pay taxes, it will eventually seize what you owe out of your bank accounts. You will likely also go to prison.
You theoretically can also vote for anti-war candidates in 2024, but there often aren’t any. And even if they win, they won’t take office for more than a year, much too late to make any difference in the current war. Despite the unpopularity of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians and cracks beginning to show in the Democratic coalition, the pro-Israel lobby and bipartisan support for Israel remain strong in Washington, where foreign policy is set.
So I don’t know what the answer is. If you figure it out, please let me know.

US Takes Hands-on Approach to Mold Israel’s Rafah Operation
Tel Aviv has reportedly rescheduled meetings with US officials on talks for how operations in Rafah should commence
Israel and the US will reschedule a high-level visit aimed at discussing plans for upcoming operations in Gaza's desperately overcrowded, southernmost city of Rafah – which Washington seeks to mold to its liking.
The rescheduling comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu canceled the initial trip in response to the US's failure to veto the latest UN resolution for a ceasefire in the strip.
An Israeli official cited by Reuters on 28 March said a new meeting was being organized and that Netanyahu may send a delegation by next week. The delegation will be led by Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, who are both close to the prime minister, according to a person familiar with the matter.
NBC reported a day earlier, citing a US official, that Israel has asked the White House to reschedule the meeting.
"The prime minister's office has agreed to reschedule the meeting dedicated [to Rafah] … So, we're now working with them to set a convenient date," said White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre on 27 March.
According to Hebrew news outlet Channel 13, Washington plans to send US generals to help draw up the plans for Rafah. The generals are expected to arrive in Israel soon, the outlet added, noting that this was what happened when Israel began its ground assault on Gaza in late October.
The White House has been warning that a full-scale invasion of Rafah would isolate Israel further in the international community. Washington is instead pushing for more limited and smaller-scale operations in the city, which State Department spokesman Mathew Miller said on Wednesday would be successful in taking out Hamas commanders.

US Inflation Increases Moderately in February; Consumer Spending Surges
U.S. prices increased moderately in February and the cost of services outside housing slowed considerably, keeping a June interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve on the table.
The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index rose 0.3% last month, the Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis said on Friday. Data for January was revised higher to show the PCE price index climbing 0.4% instead of 0.3% as previously reported.
In the 12 months through February, PCE inflation advanced 2.5% after increasing 2.4% in January. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast the PCE price index gaining 0.4% on the month and rising 2.5% year-on-year.
Price pressures are subsiding, though the pace has slowed from the first half of last year.
Fed officials last week left the U.S. central bank's policy rate unchanged in the current 5.25%-5.50% range, having raised it by 525 basis points since March 2022.
Policymakers anticipate three rate cuts this year. Financial markets expect the first rate reduction in June. Fed Governor Christopher Waller said on Wednesday, "there is no rush to cut the policy rate" right now, but he did not rule out trimming borrowing costs later in the year.

FBI Agent Says He Hassles People 'Every Day, All Day Long' Over Facebook Posts
"It's just an effort to keep everybody safe and make sure nobody has any ill will," he claimed.
The FBI spends "every day, all day long" interrogating people over their Facebook posts. At least, that's what agents told Stillwater, Oklahoma, resident Rolla Abdeljawad when they showed up at her house to ask her about her social media activity.
Three FBI agents came to Abdeljawad's house and said that they had been given "screenshots" of her posts by Facebook. Her lawyer Hassan Shibly posted a video of the incident online on Wednesday.
Abdeljawad told agents that she didn't want to talk and asked them to show their badges on camera, which the agents refused to do. She wrote on Facebook that she later confirmed with local police that the FBI agents really were FBI agents.
"Facebook gave us a couple of screenshots of your account," one agent in a gray shirt said in the video.
"So we no longer live in a free country and we can't say what we want?" replied Abdeljawad.
"No, we totally do. That's why we're not here to arrest you or anything," a second agent in a red shirt added. "We do this every day, all day long. It's just an effort to keep everybody safe and make sure nobody has any ill will."
Shibly says that he doesn't know which Facebook post caught the agents' attention, and that it was the first time he had heard of Facebook's parent company, Meta, preemptively reporting posts to law enforcement. Andy Stone, a spokesman for Meta, and Kayla McCleery, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Oklahoma City office, declined to comment.
Meta's official policy is to hand over Facebook data to U.S. law enforcement in response to a court order, a subpoena, a search warrant, or an emergency situation involving "imminent harm to a child or risk of death or serious physical injury to any person." The company received 73,956 requests from U.S. law enforcement and handed over data 87.84 percent of the time in the first half of 2023, according to the Meta website.
Abdeljawad's Facebook timeline is public, so the FBI agents could have found it themselves. For the past week, she has made multiple angry posts per day about the war in Gaza, referring to Israel as "Israhell." But none of the posts on her feed call for violence.
Ironically, Abdeljawad had also posted a warning about exactly the kind of government monitoring she was later subjected to.
"Don't fall for their games. Our community is being watched & they are just waiting for any reason to round us up," Abdeljawad wrote. "If you're Muslim and/or pro-pal consider all your media accounts, Google searches, mail, messenger, local mosques & political events monitored. #NYC #usa #PoliceState #FreePalestine"
Shibly claims that Abdeljawad knew how to assert her rights from her time volunteering at the Council on American-Islamic Relations, where Shibly used to be a state-level director. "It's unfortunately normal behavior for the FBI to target the community like this," Shibly says.
Edward Snowden on Twitter / X: "So the FBI is now doorstopping ordinary Americans for criticizing the White House's Gaza policy online? "Every day, all day long?" Does this sound okay to you?"

Libertarian Party Contacted by FBI Agent, Alleging Social Media Assets 'Compromised' by 'Hostile Foreign Government'
Yesterday, the LPNational was contacted by an FBI field agent, alleging one of our social media assets had been compromised by a "hostile foreign government". She refused to disclose how the FBI came by this information, who the threat was, or specifically what the threat was.
Our IT Dept and social media team performed due diligence to make sure there was no data breach and so far, we have not uncovered any evidence of a breach.
We do not trust the FBI. Stories of aggressive FBI field agents have been popping up all over the country. The Biden administration seems to be cracking down on dissenting voices in preparation for the general election. We will continue to dissent, and we will call out the corruption of the current DOJ and Biden administration.
The greatest threat to freedom in the US isn't an anonymous "hostile foreign government". It is the United States Government. It is the current administration, who has engaged in an unprecedented amount of censorship, coercion, and Orwellian control tactics. - Angela McArdle LNC Chair

Pentagon Claims Israeli Weapons Demands Exceed US Capacity
President Joe Biden continues to send weapons despite publicly claiming to oppose Israel's mass killing of Gazans
The US military’s top general said on 29 March that Washington has not been able to provide all the weapons Israel has requested to prosecute its war on Gaza.
“Although we’ve been supporting them with capability, they’ve not received everything they’ve asked for,” said General Charles Q. Brown Jr., the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff.
“Some of that is because they’ve asked for stuff that we either don’t have the capacity to provide or not willing to provide, not right now,” to maintain readiness levels, Brown added, while speaking at an event hosted by the Defense Writers Group.
Brown's spokesperson later clarified on Thursday that his comments were in reference to “a standard practice before providing military aid to any of our allies and partners.”
The Washington Post reported earlier this month that the US has “quietly approved and delivered more than 100 separate foreign military sales to Israel” since the war began on 7 October.
The shipments include thousands of precision-guided munitions, small-diameter bombs, bunker busters, small arms, and other lethal aid.
Only two approved military sales to Israel have been reported publicly: $106 million worth of tank ammunition and $147.5 million in components needed to make 155 mm shells.
The other 100 weapons shipments had not been reported previously because their dollar amounts were below the threshold needed to require the White House to notify Congress.
The massive weapons transfers come despite public complaints from the White House that Israel is killing huge numbers of Palestinian civilians, refusing to allow aid into Gaza amid a looming famine, and criticism of Israeli threats to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza.

US Loosens Sanctions on Violent Israeli Settlers
Tel Aviv’s finance chief vowed to punish Palestinians in response to US penalties on extremist settlers
The Joe Biden administration has clarified a new round of sanctions targeting violent Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, saying it would allow local banks to process routine transactions with people on the blacklist.
The US Treasury Department elaborated on the penalties in a letter to Tel Aviv’s central bank – first obtained by the Times of Israel, which reported that the message was intended to “cool anger” over the sanctions by the country’s finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich.
“Israeli banks can process transactions for individuals designated under [the penalties] that are ordinarily incident and necessary to basic human needs or subsistence without exposure to OFAC sanctions risk, provided these transactions do not involve the US financial system or US persons,” the Treasury said.
A number of Israeli banks froze the accounts of sanctioned individuals last month over fears of violating the US measures, which were imposed through a February executive order by President Joe Biden. In an effort to curb “extremist settler violence,” the sanctions bar transactions with those who undermine “peace, security, and stability” in Palestine and Israel, including settlers who have engaged in attacks, land theft or intimidation targeting Palestinians.
So far, seven Israelis have been designated under the order, though its effectiveness remains to be seen as the sanctioned settlers look largely unfazed.
The US clarification appears to limit the sanctions beyond what is specified in Biden’s order, which bars all “services to or in support of any person” named under the penalties. A Treasury spokesperson later told AFP that Washington “fully intends to enforce” the sanctions, however, suggesting the order had always permitted “humanitarian exceptions.”

Biden Claims Saudi Arabia, Qatar ‘Ready to Normalize’ With Israel
Saudi Arabia has publicly said that normalization with Israel hinges on concessions and eventual statehood for Palestinians
US President Joe Biden said at a campaign event on 28 March that Arab states, including Saudi Arabia and Qatar, are ready for a full normalization of ties with Israel.
During the event – which was meant to show unity in the Democratic Party ahead of US elections in November this year – Biden was joined on stage by former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton.
“I’ve been working with the Saudis and with all the other Arab countries, including Egypt and Jordan and Qatar. They’re prepared to fully recognize Israel. There has to be a post-Gaza plan, and there has to be a trade to a two-state solution. It doesn’t have to occur today. It has to be a progression and I think we can do that,” Biden said.
Since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, which has seen Israel kill over 32,000 civilians, Saudi Arabia has repeatedly stated that normalization with Tel Aviv is still on the table.
However, Riyadh has doubled down on its demands for concessions to the Palestinians, including, most prominently, the demand for the eventual realization of statehood.

Friends,
I encourage you to listen to this Twitter Space that I participated in on the 40th birthday of Ross Ulbricht, the creator of the Silk Road marketplace, and a political prisoner. I was present in the courtroom for Ross' trial in 2015 and I share about my experience, and the many misconceptions and outright lies told about Ross. I come on about
"Wednesday, March 27th, was Ross Ulbricht's 40th Birthday.
We at the Silkroad Foundation thought it was important to host a big birthday Space for him, and Kenny @Palurintano had the connections to make it happen.
Guests included Derrick Broze, Sterlin Lujan, Josh Sigurdson, Joel Valenzuela, and others!
We had 4 musical acts: Illuminati Congo, Jordan Page, Tatiana Moroz, and John Bush!"

Katt Williams Remarks About Diddy Resurface After Police Raid
Music fans are sure comedian Katt Williams tried to warn people about Sean "Diddy" Combs' alleged wild parties amid the music producer's legal woes.
"I gotta protect my integrity... because if P. Diddy be wanting to party and you gotta tell him no," he said in January on Shannon Sharpe's Club Shay Shay podcast, referring to Combs' infamous wild parties.
Combs' ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, sued him in November, alleging years of sexual abuse where she claimed he forced her to have sex with male sex workers as he filmed them and introduced her to an "ostentatious, fast-paced and drug-fueled lifestyle." Combs settled the lawsuit day after it was filed.
Then in December, one of another two women to accuse him of sexual assault hit Combs with a lawsuit that alleged he trafficked and sexually abused her.
The most recent case against Combs was filed in February by music producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones, who alleges he was sexually harassed, drugged and threatened by Combs. Jones also claimed to be trafficked by Combs, forced to procure sex workers for him and that the music mogul often hosted drug fueled parties where underage girls were allegedly in attendance.
Williams had discussed Combs' alleged infamous parties in a now-viral episode of Sharpe's podcast.
The widely disseminated episode lasted almost three hours, where Williams, 52, discussed everything from his family, career, legal issues, grievances with other comedians, celebrities and this year's presidential election.
Following the feds raids on Combs' homes, Williams' comments about him were re-shared widely on social media, including X, formerly Twitter.
"I gotta protect my integrity and that virgin hole I was telling you about because P. Diddy be wanting to party and you gotta tell him no," he said in reference to an early comment he made saying he wanted to "get this far in Hollywood and still have a virgin a****** and never have sucked a penis."
Williams added of Combs: "You got to tell him no. I did. I got the receipts for everything I'm telling you."
"All of these big d*** deviants is all catching hell in 2024. It's up for all of them. It doesn't matter if you Diddy, or whoever you is. All lies will be exposed. In 30 years, I've done nothing but collect information, knowledge, and your secrets. I know so many things I shouldn't know, and they all know it," Williams said.

Israel Bombs UN Patrol in Lebanon as War Chief Threatens to ‘Expand’ Northern Front
Tel Aviv says plans to 'actively pursue Hezbollah' across Lebanon were relayed to US authorities, who have publicly pushed back against expanding the war
An Israeli drone strike targeted a patrol of the UN Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) near the border town of Rmeish on 30 March, leaving several injured.
According to security sources who spoke with Reuters, the vehicle that was targeted carried three UN technical observers and one Lebanese translator. Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee denied that Tel Aviv was behind the attack.
The attack on UNIFIL comes less than a day after Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced he had ordered troops in the north to “expand the campaign” against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“We are shifting from being passive to actively pursuing Hezbollah. Wherever Hezbollah is, we will reach it. This applies to towns like Beirut, Baalbek, Tyre, Sidon, Nabatieh, including more distant places like Damascus and beyond - wherever we need to act, we will,” Gallant said during a visit to the army's northern command in Safed...
His comments were made on the heels of a brutal attack in northern Syria that saw Israeli warplanes kill over 40 people. This attack coincided with raids by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) extremist militant group – formerly known as the Nusra Front [Al Qaeda affiliate.] – against the Syrian army...
