Netanyahu's Likud Party Suffers 'historic Collapse' Ahead Of Israeli Elections: Poll

The Israeli premier's bloc sits 11 seats short of the 61 needed to form a government, as his approval trails behind his rivals

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party has slid to 19 seats in Israel's 120-seat Knesset, its weakest showing in over a year, according to a survey published by Maariv on 11 September, about six weeks before the 27 October general election.

The drop leaves Netanyahu's governing bloc, which includes Likud together with its coalition partners, on 50 seats, 11 short of the 61 needed to form a government, against 58 for the opposition parties and 12 for the Arab lists.

Former army chief Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar list stayed on top with 25 seats, followed by Likud, with the remaining 10 parties that cleared the threshold splitting between four and 14 seats each.

Netanyahu was spared a worse outcome by the arrival of a new coalition ally, Ofer Winter's Amcha Yisrael list, which won no seats in the previous survey but took four this time, leaving the coalition camp three seats stronger overall despite Likud's decline.

As commander of the Givati Brigade in 2014, Winter led Israeli forces during the Rafah massacre known as Black Friday, in which at least 135 Palestinian civilians, 75 of them children, were killed, according to Palestinian medical sources.

Palestinians Gain More Sympathy Than Israelis Among US Voters For The First Time: Poll

Support for Israel among young US voters and Democrats has collapsed since the start of the genocide in Gaza

As Israel’s genocide in Gaza continues, sympathy among US voters for Palestinians has eclipsed sympathy for Israelis, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released on 10 September.

The poll found that 38 percent of US voters said they were more sympathetic to the Palestinians, while 35 percent named the Israelis. The remaining 27 percent had no opinion.

“Since Oct. 7, 2023, the state of Israel has lost ground in the eyes of American voters, while the Palestinian population has new-found support,” Quinnipiac polling analyst Tim Malloy stated.

The results of the poll contrast strongly with a previous Quinnipiac poll taken right after the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack on Israeli settlements and military bases enforcing a siege on Gaza.

Roughly 1,200 Israeli soldiers and civilians were killed in the attacks, the majority by the Israeli military itself per the Hannibal Directive.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry said "there is no such thing under discussion right now" when asked how Islamabad would meet its obligations under the accord signed with Turkey and Saudi Arabia, adding there are no plans to expand the alliance. Turkey, the third signatory, has not moved either.
Saudi Arabia has now been refused by Trump twice and by Pakistan under the pact it signed for exactly this, with the Houthis holding Bab el-Mandeb and the East-West pipeline shut.

Report: US Ramps Up Intelligence, Targeting Support For Saudi Arabia’s War In Yemen

The US has a history of providing intelligence support for Saudi airstrikes in Yemen, which have killed many civilians

More than 100 US military advisers are in Saudi Arabia assisting Riyadh with intelligence and targeting support for its renewed war in Yemen, CNN reported on Thursday.

One of CNN’s sources, an unnamed US official, put the number of US troops assisting in the effort at 200 and said they were part of a new joint task force that was formed in recent weeks as the war in Yemen began to escalate.

The war was reignited by July 13 Saudi airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport, an attack that was approved by President Trump , according to a report from Axios . The strikes were launched to prevent a plane from landing in Sanaa that took off from Iran, which was carrying a Yemeni delegation that attended the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

US and Saudi officials also alleged that the plane was carrying weapons and Iranian advisors. Following the strikes, Ansar Allah, also known as the Houthis, announced they were imposing a blockade on Saudi shipping, and the war has continued to escalate since then. Now, Ansar Allah is making significant gains on the ground, pushing closer to the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

US intelligence and other supporters also supported the brutal Saudi-led war in Yemen from 2015 to 2022, which involved frequent airstrikes on civilians. At least one recent Saudi airstrike has resulted in significant casualties: an attack that hit a prison in Yemen’s northern al-Jawf province, killing at least 23 people , including a child.

It Seems Most People Don't Understand How Severe The Energy Situation Is Right Now In The Middle East.

As of Friday, Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline has officially been shut down after recent attacks, putting -4 million barrels of daily oil exports at risk.

Meanwhile, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait is now at risk of being shut down, threatening up to -9 million barrels of daily oil supply.

All while the Strait of Hormuz is operating at ~20% of its pre-Iran War capacity, removing -15 million barrels of daily oil flows.

Combined, this represents nearly ~30 MILLION barrels per day of oil flows that are either offline or at risk.

Even after accounting for some overlap between these routes, the scale of the potential disruption is enormous relative to the ~100 million barrel per day global oil market.

This is one of the most severe energy supply situations in modern history.
