Al Jazeera's correspondent Ismail al-Ghoul, who was beaten and detained by Israeli troops during the raid on Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza has been freed after 12 hours in Israeli custody.

Following his release, he said:

✅The Israeli forces demolished the journalists’ tent and destroyed their cars during the storming of the Shifa complex.

✅We were forced to surrender ourselves to the occupation forces, who forced us to take off our clothes completely.

✅The Israeli forces handcuffed and blindfolded us and interrogated all the journalists present at the scene.

✅The occupation forces kept us without clothes for 12 hours, handcuffed and blindfolded.

✅The occupation forces confiscated our phones, computers, and photography equipment.

Israel And Hamas Start Detailed Hostage Negotiations For First Time In Months

Israel and Hamas for the first time in months are negotiating details of a possible deal to release Israeli hostages and for a temporary ceasefire in Gaza, according to two Israeli officials and a source with direct knowledge.

... Since December of last year, the talks mediated by Qatar and Egypt have been deadlocked in discussion about a framework for negotiations, rather than details of the actual agreement.

The current proposal being negotiated could lead to a six-week ceasefire in Gaza and to the release of 40 hostages — women, female soldiers, men over the age of 50 and men in critical medical conditions — in return for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners.

Driving the news: The ongoing effort to reach a deal made progress last week when Hamas responded to a hostage deal framework proposed by the U.S., Qatar and Egypt.

There are still gaps between the parties, but Hamas' response approached the original framework and allowed negotiations to progress to hammering out the details of a deal, Israeli officials said.

Trump Launched CIA Covert Influence Operation Against China — Reuters Exclusive

Two years into office, President Donald Trump authorized the Central Intelligence Agency to launch a clandestine campaign on Chinese social media aimed at turning public opinion in China against its government, according to former U.S. officials with direct knowledge of the highly classified operation.

Three former officials told Reuters that the CIA created a small team of operatives who used bogus internet identities to spread negative narratives about Xi Jinping’s government while leaking disparaging intelligence to overseas news outlets. The effort, which began in 2019, has not been previously reported.

During the past decade, China has rapidly expanded its global footprint, forging military pacts, trade deals, and business partnerships with developing nations.

The CIA team promoted allegations that members of the ruling Communist Party were hiding ill-gotten money overseas and slammed as corrupt and wasteful China’s Belt and Road Initiative, which provides financing for infrastructure projects in the developing world, the sources told Reuters.

Although the U.S. officials declined to provide specific details of these operations, they said the disparaging narratives were based in fact despite being secretly released by intelligence operatives under false cover. The efforts within China were intended to foment paranoia among top leaders there, forcing its government to expend resources chasing intrusions into Beijing’s tightly controlled internet, two former officials said. “We wanted them chasing ghosts,” one of these former officials said.

The Feds Are Coming For “Extremist” Gamers

The Department of Homeland Security and FBI are in dialog with Roblox, Discord, Reddit, and others.

GAMING COMPANIES ARE coordinating with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security to root out so-called domestic violent extremist content, according to a new government report. Noting that mechanisms have been established with social media companies to police extremism, the report recommends that the national security agencies establish new and similar processes with the vast gaming industry.

The exact nature of the cooperation between federal agencies and video game companies, which has not been previously reported, is detailed in a new Government Accountability Office report. The report draws on interviews conducted with five gaming and social media companies including Roblox, an online gaming platform; Discord, a social media app commonly used by gamers; Reddit; as well as a game publisher and social media company that asked the GAO to remain anonymous.

The Intercept reached out to the companies identified in the GAO report for comment, but none responded on the record at time of publication.

“The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have mechanisms to share and receive domestic violent extremism threat-related information with social media and gaming companies,” the GAO says. The report reveals that the DHS intelligence office meets with gaming companies and that the companies can use these meetings to “share information with I&A [DHS’s intelligence office] about online activities promoting domestic violent extremism,” or even simply “activities that violate the companies’ terms of service.” Through its 56 field offices and hundreds of resident agencies subordinate field offices, the FBI receives tips from gaming companies of potential law-breaking and extremist views for further investigation. The FBI also conducts briefings to gaming companies on purported threats.

🚨BREAKING: Brazil’s Bolsonaro Is Indicted For First Time Over Alleged Falsification Of His Own Vaccination Data

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was formally accused Tuesday of falsifying his COVID-19 vaccination data, marking the first indictment for the embattled far-right leader, with more allegations potentially in store.

The federal police indictment released by the Supreme Court alleged that Bolsonaro and 16 others inserted false information into a public health database to make it appear as though the then-president, his 12-year-old daughter and several others in his circle had received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Police detective Fábio Alvarez Shor, who signed the indictment, said in his report that Bolsonaro and his aides changed their vaccination records in order to “issue their respective (vaccination) certificates and use them to cheat current health restrictions.”

“The investigation found several false insertions between November 2021 and December 2022, and also many actions of using fraudulent documents,” Shor added.

The detective said in the indictment that Bolsonaro’s aide-de-camp, Mauro Cid, told investigators the former president asked him to insert the false data into the system for both himself and his adolescent daughter.

Since October 7th, Joe Biden has been sending weapons to Israel every 36 hours, but he has only publicly disclosed two out of over 100 shipments.

As per the Arms Export Control Act (AECA), the president must inform Congress when an arms sale to a U.S. ally exceeds certain monetary thresholds.

However, Biden has chosen to keep his extensive arms shipments to Israel hidden from public and congressional scrutiny by keeping each shipment below the AECA thresholds.

While openly advocating for arming Ukraine, Biden has chosen to clandestinely send weapons to Israel due to its extreme unpopularity among young voters and Democrats.

In reality, Biden continues to send additional arms shipments to Israel every 36 hours, yet he portrays himself as a peacekeeper for his domestic political image while shifting blame onto Israel's Prime Minister.

This is why Senator Schumer "contacted" Biden's senior staff prior to delivering his speech.

Israeli Banks Fund Illegal Settlement Home Construction: Report

Israeli ministers live in illegally financed and constructed homes in the occupied West Bank while seeking to demolish 'illegal' Palestinian homes and schools

A new investigation by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz details how Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank finance home construction in ways illegal under Israeli law.

The report, published on 17 March, shows that two prominent ministers in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government with control over West Bank affairs have built homes in this way, providing an indication of how deeply embedded the settler enterprise has become within the institutions of the Israeli state.

While all Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank are illegal under international law, Israeli law authorizes settlement construction in some Palestinian areas while forbidding it in others....

The two ministers who obtained mortgages to build homes in this way illegally are Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Yehuda Eliyahu, Smotrich's right-hand man and head of the Defense Ministry's new Settlement Administration.

In 2017, Haaretz found that Smotrich's house in the settlement of Kedumim was built illegally under Israeli law.

While illegally building homes themselves, both Smotrich and Eliyahu founded an NGO decades ago called Regavim, which is committed to preventing Palestinian construction and demolishing Palestinian homes, schools, and other infrastructure in the West Bank....

According to a former Civil Administration official, when Regavim representatives contact the administration with a complaint, "It demands a response, because when you have an inquiry, you have to address it." In response, the administration would issue an order to confiscate the Palestinians' construction equipment or demolish the already-built structure.

Children Among Dozens Executed By Israeli Troops Following Al-Shifa Raid

The brutal attack on Al-Shifa Hospital is the second since November when troops invaded the facility and evacuated it by force

Israeli forces executed dozens of people and detained almost 200 during its latest assault on Gaza City’s Al-Shifa Hospital, the Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip announced on 19 March.

Among the dozens executed were children, the media office said in a statement on Tuesday.

“The Israeli occupation committed a bloody massacre, executing 50 citizens and arresting nearly 200 others in the Shifa Medical Complex and its surrounding in Gaza City,” the statement read.

“We also received field information about … a number of children among those executed, as well as civilians, the sick, and the displaced,” it added. Some of the facilities inside the hospital were also torched by the Israeli army, according to the statement.

According to the Gaza media office, at least 250 Palestinians have been killed so far in the current Israeli assault on Al-Shifa Hospital, which began during the early hours of Monday and remains ongoing.

The Israeli army said on Tuesday that it killed “dozens of terrorists” in Al-Shifa Hospital, adding that it will "continue large-scale operations in the hospital.”

Israeli forces launched a massive operation in and around the hospital at around 2:00 am on 18 March. Israeli bombardment of the hospital killed dozens of Palestinians in the first hours of the attack.

...The attack on Al-Shifa Hospital came hours after Hamas’ Qassam Brigades revealed the details of a sniping operation that targeted and killed an officer in the elite Israeli Shaldag Unit who was behind Israel’s November raid of the medical facility.

During the assault on 18 March, Israeli troops assassinated Brigadier General Fayeq al-Mabhouh, the director of police in the Gaza Strip – who was in charge of facilitating the entry of much-needed humanitarian aid into north Gaza.
