ANOTHER ISRAELI ATTACK ON PALESTINIANS RECEIVING UN AID - Several Killed By Israeli Shelling On UNRWA Aid Facility In Rafah

The attack comes one day after Israeli forces opened fire at Palestinians waiting for food aid in north Gaza

At least five Palestinians were killed on 13 March by Israeli army shelling on a humanitarian aid distribution center in the Gaza Strip’s southernmost city of Rafah.

“We can confirm that an UNRWA warehouse/distribution center in Rafah has been hit,” UNRWA spokeswoman Juliette Touma said, adding that there are “scores injured.”

The Gaza Strip’s Health Ministry reported that the bombing of a warehouse killed at least five people.
Videos on social media showed what looked like both dead and wounded being carried.

BBC: UNRWA Says Rafah Aid Centre hit by Israeli Forces

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees says a member of staff was killed and 22 others were injured when Israeli forces hit a food distribution centre in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip.

UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini said attacks on its facilities had "become commonplace in blatant disregard to international humanitarian law".

The Hamas-run health ministry said an Israeli air strike killed five people.

The Israeli military said it killed a Hamas commander in a "precise strike".

It identified him as Mohammed Abu Hasna and alleged that he had been a "combat support operative" in Hamas's military wing in the Rafah area.

A man with that name was on a list of five fatalities given by health officials.

NYT: Mr. Lazzarini said that UNRWA shared the coordinates of all of its facilities in Gaza on a daily basis with the “parties to the conflict,” and that the Israeli military had received the coordinates of the food distribution center on Tuesday, a day before it was hit.

Undercover units of Israel's Border Police regularly kill Palestinian children without any accountability

On Tuesday, a sniper in an undercover combat unit of the Border Police opened fire on the young boy, Rami Hamdan al-Halhouli, after he shot a firework high in the air during confrontations in the narrow streets of the Shuafat refugee camp in occupied East Jerusalem.

Ben Gvir saluted the officer who killed the boy. “This is exactly how you should act against terrorists – with determination and precision,” he said.

In a statement, Israeli Border Police claimed violent riots broke out in the camp and that during the unrest, a single shot was fired by an officer towards a suspect “who endangered the forces while firing aerial fireworks in their direction.”

However, the video of the moment Halhouli shot the fireworks gives no indication that Israeli forces were in any danger.

....Ben Gvir, who oversees the Border Police as National Security Minister, responded to the news of the summons by saying the sniper “should receive a reward – not an investigation by the Israel Defense Forces.”

EU Humanitarian Chief Claims No Evidence From Israel To Back UNRWA Accusations

The European Union’s top humanitarian aid official claims he has seen no evidence from Israel to back its accusations against staff from the UN Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA), which should continue playing a “critical” role in Gaza....

“Even if those allegations, at the end of the day, prove to be true, that doesn’t mean that UNRWA is the perpetrator,” he tells journalists.

In that case, Lenarcic says individual accountability would be in order rather than summary justice – and the “irreplaceable” agency would be asked to clean up and carry on.

“UNRWA has reacted properly, immediately, effectively. It took several measures. There is an investigation. There is a review. We are satisfied so far with all this,” says Lenarcic.

“UNRWA has of course a critical role to play here because it has unmatched infrastructure, warehouses, shelters, logistical capacities.”

On Israel and Rape

Tel Aviv’s dubious rape allegations against Hamas conceal Israel's own shocking domestic sexual violence crisis, in which 260 Israeli women and minors are raped each day.

While Israel's unsubstantiated claims of rape on 7 October have dominated western media headlines, credible documented cases of rape against Palestinians and Israeli-on-Israeli sexual assault have received far less attention.

Israel's scourge of sexual violence and rape incidents did not originate five months ago – its roots go deeper and farther back than that, and there is a crucial context essential for understanding the country's domestic environment of abuse.

Israel's massive sexual violence problem

On 8 February, Haaretz brought to light a harrowing revelation: 116 separate files detailing instances of sexual assault and domestic violence against women and minors among Israelis 'displaced' from their illegal settlements due to the ongoing military conflicts with Gaza and Lebanon.

The cases surfaced during a special Knesset committee on the Status of Women and Gender Equality, where "committee chair MK Pnina Tamano-Shata [National Unity Party] chastised police representatives for failing to collect accurate data from each hotel regarding violence and sexual attacks."

Although there were disputes over a lack of complete data, disturbing incidents were highlighted, including a case of pedophilia involving a 23-year-old establishing a "relationship with a 13-year-old girl, both living in the same hotel" and a rape committed after a man followed a woman to her room. It also noted that elevators were places of particular vulnerability for sexual assault and violence.

Cases of sexual assault were not confined to the approximately 200,000 'displaced' settlers. There have also been credible claims by a female soldier that she was raped by a fellow serviceman during the ongoing brutal military assault on Gaza.

Sexual harassment and violence are nothing new among Israel's armed forces. According to a Haaretz report, "a third of female conscripts in the military had suffered sexual harassment at least once in the previous year [2022]."

Haaretz noted that most victims avoid reporting what happened to them and that "70 percent of those young women who did report what happened to them stated that their report was not handled at all, or not handled sufficiently."

In 2020, the Israeli army's sexual violence crisis was recognized after only 31 indictments were filed out of 1,542 sexual assault complaints registered within the military establishment.

That's a stunning indictment of the 'world's most moral army.' And it isn't just Israel's war establishment afflicted with the rape bug.

Rape, normalized in Israel

In addition to being a regional hub for human trafficking and a haven for pedophiles, Israel consistently ranks the highest in West Asia for documented cases of rape and sexual assaults.

Macron Once Again Says NATO Shouldn’t Rule Out Sending Troops to Ukraine

Moscow has warned a Western troop deployment would make a direct Russia-NATO war inevitable

French President Emmanuel Macron has once again said NATO should not rule out sending troops to Ukraine despite the risk of direct war with Russia, which could quickly turn nuclear.

Macron sparked an uproar when he first made the comments about NATO troops deploying to Ukraine last month and has defended the bellicose rhetoric each time he’s been asked about it.

In an interview on French national television, Macron said NATO was not in the “situation” to send troops to Ukraine today but said that “all these options are possible.”

The talk of sending Western troops to Ukraine has put more attention on the fact that there is already a small number of NATO special operations forces inside Ukraine. The Discord leaks revealed last year that 97 NATO special operators were in Ukraine, including 15 French soldiers.

But what Macron appears to be considering would be a larger public deployment, something Moscow has warned would make a direct Russia-NATO war inevitable.

Taiwan Confirms Presence of US Special Forces on Islands Near China’s Coast

The Kinmen Islands are just a few miles from the Chinese city of Xiamen

Taiwanese Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng confirmed on Thursday the presence of US Army Special Forces soldiers in Kinmen, a group of islands that are controlled by Taiwan but located just off the coast of mainland China.

Some parts of the Kinmen islands are just 2.5 miles away from the mainland Chinese city of Xiamen. The presence of US troops on the islands was first reported by Taiwanese media last month.

Chiu confirmed the highly provocative deployment when asked about a new report from the US outlet SOFREP that said US Green Berets have taken up “permanent positions” as military advisors in Kinmen. The US soldiers are also deployed in Penghu, a Taiwanese-controlled archipelago about 30 miles west of the main island of Taiwan and 70 miles east of mainland China.

The FAA Found Staff At Boeing's Supplier Using Liquid Dawn Soap As Lubricant For A 737 Max Door Seal: NYT

Mechanics at a Boeing supplier used liquid soap as a lubricant to fit a 737 Max door seal, per NYT.

The instance was mentioned in a document discussing FAA audits of Boeing and its supplier, per NYT.

This particular supplier, Spirit AeroSystems, is in charge of building the 737 Max's fuselage.

The Federal Aviation Administration auditors saw mechanics for a Boeing supplier using liquid Dawn soap as a lubricant for fitting a door seal, The New York Times reported.

The regulator then observed mechanics at Spirit AeroSystems, which builds the fuselage of Boeing's 737 Max, cleaning up using a wet cheesecloth, per The Times' Mark Walker.

These findings were part of a six-week audit documented in a set of FAA presentation slides upon which The Times based its report.

The slides said that Boeing had failed 33 of 89 product audits related to 737 Max production, while Spirit failed seven of 13 audits, per The Times.

Global scrutiny is building on the quality of the 737 Max's fuselage after a door plug on an Alaska Airlines flight blew out in January while the aircraft was still midair.

The incident triggered a push to investigate safety standards at Boeing, which had been accused of quality assurance lapses for several years.

Pornhub Blocks Access in Texas After State-Mandated Digital ID Law

A new state laws calls for internet users to verify themselves with a government-issued ID, raising privacy and free speech concerns.

In response to a Texas state law mandating digital ID age verification, Pornhub, a highly trafficked adult content website, has ceased operations in the state as of Thursday.

Visitors to the site are now met with a detailed message from Pornhub criticizing the new legal requirement.

The message denounces the measure as “ineffective” and “haphazard.”

The adult entertainment brand is instead advocating for digital ID responsibilities to be shifted to the creators of internet-enabled devices, rather than individual websites.

The contentious law, HB 1181, was enacted last year by the state’s Republican-led Legislature. It obliges distributors of material “harmful to minors” to verify that their users are over 18, using either a government-issued ID or another reliable system based on public or private data, without keeping any identifying user information.

The digital verification with a government-issued ID opens up issues related to having to give up privacy in order to access a website.

December Flashback: Detailed Maps Lead IDF Intelligence To Believe Spies Were Used - Report — Jerusalem Post

Data taken from technology (laptops, phones, tablets) and written notebooks detailed plans for a slew of military targets and key points in Israel to attack, well into Israeli territory.

Hamas was able to carry out their extensive October 7 massacre with help from spies within Israel's borders, according to a report by The Guardian. The report alleges that Hamas was able to spend years drawing detailed maps thanks to the help of sources inside Israel, citing an IDF conclusion drawn from data found on phones, notebooks, and documents seized by terrorists.

The report added that Hamas terrorists carried guides to hostage-taking as well as Arabic to Hebrew phrasebooks. One specifically translated phrase was "put your hands up and spread your legs," the British newspaper reported.

The UK-based outlet added that the findings on the plans for the massacre included a map that is more detailed than would be required by the IDF.

“Compiling such a map could only have been done using ‘inside knowledge’ – almost certainly from a Hamas spy,” the report cited an unnamed IDF intelligence source as saying...

OBSERVERS WARNED BUT WERE THREATENED IN RESPONSE

A New York Times report alleges that the IDF retrieved a 40-page "game plan" for Hamas' planned attack but that it was dismissed on the grounds that security forces believed it was beyond the terror organization's bandwidth. Military officials also ignored reports from observers—mostly women—and even threatened to court martial them over their claims.

IDF lookouts who had warned their commanders that they were concerned about the situation along the Gaza border in the months before the October 7 attack were told to stop bothering them and were even threatened with a court-martial, N12 reported last month.

According to a report by Israeli media, the lookouts warned that they had seen unusual training and other actions taking place next to the border, with more and more people suddenly getting near the fence in the months leading up to the attack.

....The observers felt that they weren't being heard; one of them decided to go directly to a senior commander in the area and was told "I don't want to hear again about this nonsense. If you all bother us again with these things, you'll be court-martialed."
