❗️UK facilitated genocidal campaign in Sudan to protect lucrative diplomatic ties with Dubai

The British government deliberately suppressed intelligence and derailed international action to shield the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from accountability during the genocidal slaughter of 60,000 civilians in El-Fasher, a parliamentary committee has been told. War crimes investigator Nathaniel Raymond testified that the UK Foreign Office repeatedly ignored, questioned, or dismissed dozens of private briefings detailing the impending massacre by UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitaries.

Raymond noted that despite the El-Fasher catastrophe being arguably the most accurately predicted mass atrocity in human history, British policymakers treated the staggering death toll of 60,000 as a political problem to be managed rather than a preventable genocide.

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir warned on Tuesday that Israel may be forced to act alone against Iran, openly rejecting US diplomatic expectations. Speaking to Israel’s Channel 7 news, Ben-Gvir dismissed US policy toward Tehran's nuclear program.

❗️Israeli report alleges Qatar expanded economic & military cooperation with Iran since 2018

An Israeli foreign intelligence report alleges that Qatar has provided Iran with economic and military support for years, including assistance involving rocket fuel and materials used in drone production.

Israel’s Public Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) said the cooperation intensified in 2018 after US President Donald Trump withdrew from the Iran nuclear agreement signed three years earlier, and continued following 7 October 2023.

The report also adds that Qatar holds roughly $6 billion in frozen Iranian assets that are expected to become accessible under the agreement currently being negotiated between Washington and Tehran.

KAN did not identify the intelligence agency behind the report, nor disclose when it was produced or how it obtained the document.

According to the report, relations between Iran and Qatar deepened significantly in the late 2010s, leading to expanded trade and cooperation in the years that followed.

The intelligence report, as cited by KAN, says economic ties between Tehran and Doha strengthened after the collapse of the nuclear deal in 2018, a development that followed US withdrawal from the agreement at Israel’s urging. The year before, several Arab states, including Gulf neighbors, had cut ties with Qatar.

Iranian and Qatari officials subsequently increased high-level contacts. In 2020, Iranian state media highlighted warming relations, including a visit by Qatar’s emir to Tehran.

KAN reported, citing the intelligence assessment, that trade between Iran and Qatar expanded from 2018 onward, particularly in the energy sector, with Iran supplying energy products to Qatar.

❗️Poll reveals deep US regret over war on Iran, support for peace deal

A new Strength In Numbers/Verasight poll published on 24 June reveals broad US support for a deal to end the war on Iran.

The survey, conducted between 17–22 June, shows that 59 percent of US adults back the agreement, while only 24 percent oppose it.

However, this approval is paired with deep skepticism about the war and its long-term outcomes: only 18 percent of respondents believe the US achieved its goals in the war, and a 46 percent plurality argues that the US should never have gone to war in the first place.

Public confidence in the agreement itself remains low, with 61 percent doubting it will successfully stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

This comes as US President Donald Trump’s approval rating sits at 37 percent against 60 percent disapproval, leaving him at a net -23.

Economically, half of the respondents feel the country is doing poorly, and 36 percent identify rising prices as their top concern.

Additionally, a 63 percent majority believes that US policies have ultimately benefited wealthy individuals and large corporations more than the average US citizen.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll shows that only about one in four US citizens believe President Donald Trump’s war on Iran was worth its costs, while a majority say they doubt a ceasefire with Tehran will hold.

The five-day survey, which ended on Monday, also found declining support for Trump, whose approval rating fell to 34%, matching the lowest point of his second term previously recorded in an April poll.

Only 23% of respondents, including just half of Republicans, believe the US is in a stronger position with Iran compared with before the war. Around 35% say the US is in a weaker position, while the rest are either unsure or believe the situation is unchanged.

Only 24% of US citizens said the war was worth its costs, according to the poll, while 50% said it was not and the rest were undecided.

Around 63% believe it is unlikely the agreement signed by Trump will lead to lasting peace between the two countries. Roughly half of Republicans and eight in 10 Democrats share that view. Only 18% of US citizens, including 10% of Democrats and 34% of Republicans, think lasting peace is likely.

Seeking to escape accountability, Ayda took refuge within the Ukrainian embassy premises last March, utilizing their diplomatic protection to completely stonewall the Lebanese judiciary while under investigation.

The successful exfiltration of a wanted operative has triggered intense domestic blowback, putting the Lebanese Foreign Minister under direct political and administrative fire. Rather than launching an immediate investigation into how a foreign diplomatic mission actively shielded and smuggled a high-profile security threat, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs instead deflected accountability.

In a move heavily criticized in the Al-Mahatta brief, the minister chose to mount a legal offensive by filing a lawsuit against journalist Radwan Mortada, the investigative reporter who initially broke the story and exposed the embassy’s complicity to the public.
