Israel commits new massacre against starving Gazans. The new attack took place on the same street as last month’s infamous ‘Flour Massacre’
The Israeli army opened fire at dozens of Palestinians lined up for food aid on 12 March, the Gaza Strip’s Government Media office announced.
“The occupation army once again targeted Palestinians waiting for aid to enter at the Kuwait Roundabout this morning, resulting in a number of martyrs and dozens of wounded,” head of the media office Salama Maarouf said on Tuesday.
“This new crime raises the number of martyrs killed by the occupation while waiting for aid at the Kuwait Roundabout and Al-Rashid Street, to more than 400 martyrs, and 1300 wounded, so far,” Salama added.
Israeli troops committed a massacre against starving Palestinians on northern Gaza’s Al-Rashid Street on 29 February. The brutal attack, which killed over a hundred Palestinians, has come to be known as the Flour Massacre.
Israel has deflected blame through an internal army investigation. Israel claims most of the deaths occurred because the Palestinians trampled each other to death trying to get flour sacks from the aid convoy. Tel Aviv also claimed soldiers fired shots at Palestinians who were “endangering troops.”
Yet the testimonies gathered from Palestinians who survived the massacre described Israeli forces as opening fire indiscriminately on the crowd, causing aid seekers to flee and trucks to drive away. Doctors at Gaza hospitals reported that most of the injured had gunshot wounds, suggesting most of the dead were killed by Israeli gunfire.
At the start of this month, the US vetoed a UN Security Council statement condemning the massacre, marking the fifth time Washington has blocked a UNSC statement or ceasefire resolution that would hold Israel accountable for the atrocities it has committed in Gaza.

US Intelligence ‘Threat Assessment’ Says Hamas Isn’t Going Away
The assessment also says Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons
An annual “threat assessment” compiled by US intelligence agencies was released on Monday and said that Israel will likely face resistance from Hamas for years to come, another sign that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s stated goal of “eradicating” the Palestinian group isn’t realistic.
“Israel probably will face lingering armed resistance from HAMAS for years to come, and the military will struggle to neutralize HAMAS’s underground infrastructure, which allows insurgents to hide, regain strength, and surprise Israeli forces,” the assessment reads.
The assessment aligns with an Israeli military intelligence document that was circulated last month and said even if Israel succeeded in dismantling Hamas as an organized military force, the group would still exist as “a terror group and a guerrilla group.” Other reports have said Israel is struggling to destroy the vast tunnel network underneath Gaza that is key to Hamas’s survival and is far more expansive than Israel initially thought.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Q. Brown, the highest ranking US military officer, previously said that Israel’s mass killing of civilians in Gaza will be a recruiting boon for Hamas. “The faster you can get to a point where you stop the hostilities, you have less strife for the civilian population that turns into someone who now wants to be the next member of Hamas,” Brown said in November.
Despite believing Netanyahu’s goal is unrealistic, the US continues to provide unconditional military support for Israel’s genocidal war, which has killed at least over 31,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.
The Biden administration is trying to distance itself from Netanyahu by criticizing his government, but the rhetoric hasn’t amounted to a policy change. The US threat assessment said that while Hamas isn’t going away, Netanyahu could lose his hold on power.

The proposals, despite amendments, still contain controversial language that some feel would lead to a power grab.
The UN’s World Health Organization (WHO) has been toiling away in relative obscurity for decades, but it was the pandemic that really brought it to the fore.
The UN and various governments would no doubt say that it played its role perfectly, and critics might do the same – but they will vehemently disagree on what the role was, and is supposed to continue to be.
Is WHO a benevolent international promoter of health and safety and in particular when it comes to the most vulnerable categories of population worldwide? Or is it yet another globalist group bent on a serious “power grab” – robbing national authorities of agency in this particularly sensitive sector?
Some actions, such as a number of provisions contained in the effort to amend the 2005 International Health Regulations (IHR), have given pause even to those who may not bill themselves as being against globalization.
That’s because WHO attempted to wade in on issues like misinformation, disinformation, vaccine passports, and all this in the context of expanding its own related powers.
Now, observers say that the latest draft of these amendments seems to have toned things down a little, but continues to provide for WHO’s expanded powers along the said lines.
Initially, the amendments were worded such to allow WHO to “strengthen” its own abilities when it comes to combating “misinformation and disinformation” – whereas now, the text says that WHO will “coordinate and support” locally on matters like risk communications, including “misinformation,” etc.

🇺🇸✈️@COVID19Up: The nation's top public health agency is expanding a program that tests international travelers for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention program asks arriving international passengers to volunteer to have their noses swabbed and answer questions about their travel. The program operates at six airports and on Tuesday, the CDC said it was adding two more — Chicago’s O’Hare and Miami.
Those locations should provide more information about respiratory infections coming out of South America, Africa and Asia, particularly, CDC officials said.
“Miami and Chicago enable us to collect samples coming from areas of the world where global surveillance is not as strong as it used to be,” said the CDC's Allison Taylor Walker. “What we really need is a good view of what’s happening in the world so we’re prepared for the next thing.”

Just recently, in Belgium, former Flemish parliamentarian Dries Van Langenhove was sentenced to one year in prison. The reason for this sentence was for sharing supposedly “racist memes” in a private group chat.

Biden Criticism Of Netanyahu Only 'Bluffing': Hebrew Media
Biden claims he is opposed to Netanyahu's killing of civilians, refusal to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, and planned invasion of Rafah
When President Joe Biden criticizes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over killing and starving Palestinians in Gaza, he is "bluffing" for domestic reasons and strengthening Netanyahu, prominent Israeli commentators have stated.
Many reports have emerged in the US, Israeli, and Arab press in recent weeks that Biden and Netanyahu are on a "collision course" due to the prime minister's refusal to allow aid into Gaza and plans for an invasion of Rafah, where over 1 million displaced Gazans have fled to escape Israeli bombing in northern parts of the strip.
Axios reported on 12 March that a Rafah invasion is a red line both for Biden and Netanyahu....
Qatar-based The New Arab similarly claimed on 11 March that "Frustration has been mounting over civilian casualties and Netanyahu's refusal to open more aid routes to Gaza" and that "Biden's strained relationship with Netanyahu" may be at a "breaking point."
This strain has allegedly led the US to carry out humanitarian airdrops to Gaza and sparked plans to build a temporary port on the Gaza shore to deliver aid by ship.
However, Jewish Insider reported on 11 March that the dispute between Biden and Netanyahu is not genuine and that Biden's public criticism of Netanyahu is strengthening him in the eyes of the Israeli public.
The outlet noted that Biden is criticizing policies advocated by Netanyahu that are popular among Israeli Jews....
An Israel Democracy Institute survey published on Sunday found that 74 percent support invading Rafah, while only 12 percent oppose it....
"Biden has a game he's playing, and that is criticism of Bibi … It reduces some of the flames," Dayan said.
Dayan argued that Biden is trying to avoid a situation ahead of this summer's Democratic National Convention like that in 1968, which was marked by anti-Vietnam War protests and rioting.

Biden claims he is opposed to Netanyahu's killing of civilians, refusal to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, and planned invasion of Rafah
When President Joe Biden criticizes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over killing and starving Palestinians in Gaza, he is "bluffing" for domestic reasons and strengthening Netanyahu, prominent Israeli commentators have stated.
Many reports have emerged in the US, Israeli, and Arab press in recent weeks that Biden and Netanyahu are on a "collision course" due to the prime minister's refusal to allow aid into Gaza and plans for an invasion of Rafah, where over 1 million displaced Gazans have fled to escape Israeli bombing in northern parts of the strip.
Axios reported on 12 March that a Rafah invasion is a red line both for Biden and Netanyahu....
Qatar-based The New Arab similarly claimed on 11 March that "Frustration has been mounting over civilian casualties and Netanyahu's refusal to open more aid routes to Gaza" and that "Biden's strained relationship with Netanyahu" may be at a "breaking point."
This strain has allegedly led the US to carry out humanitarian airdrops to Gaza and sparked plans to build a temporary port on the Gaza shore to deliver aid by ship.
However, Jewish Insider reported on 11 March that the dispute between Biden and Netanyahu is not genuine and that Biden's public criticism of Netanyahu is strengthening him in the eyes of the Israeli public.
The outlet noted that Biden is criticizing policies advocated by Netanyahu that are popular among Israeli Jews....
An Israel Democracy Institute survey published on Sunday found that 74 percent support invading Rafah, while only 12 percent oppose it....
"Biden has a game he's playing, and that is criticism of Bibi … It reduces some of the flames," Dayan said.
Dayan argued that Biden is trying to avoid a situation ahead of this summer's Democratic National Convention like that in 1968, which was marked by anti-Vietnam War protests and rioting.

Netanyahu said he will 'finish the job' in Rafah, which is packed with 1.5 million Palestinians
National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Tuesday refuted a report from POLITICO that said President Biden was considering conditioning military aid to Israel if it invades Rafah, the southern Gaza Strip city that’s packed with 1.5 million Palestinians.
“We’re not going to engage in hypotheticals about what comes down the line and the reports that purport to describe the president’s thinking are uninformed speculation,” Sullivan said.
A full-scale attack on Rafah would incur a huge number of civilian casualties as most Palestinians in the city, which has a pre-war population of 275,000, are sheltering in tents on the streets.
The assault would also disrupt the small flow of aid going into Gaza, as the only border crossing into Egypt is located in the city, and Palestinians are already starving to death in Gaza due to the Israeli siege.
Sullivan also denied the idea that President Biden set a red line for Israel. In an interview over the weekend, Biden suggested an assault on Rafah was a red line but quickly walked back the comment. “The president didn’t make any declarations or pronouncements or announcements,” Sullivan said.
Also on Tuesday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu again vowed to invade Rafah. “We will finish the job in Rafah while enabling the civilian population to get out of harm’s way,” he said in comments to AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobbying group in the US.

Four US Army vessels carrying about 100 American troops departed Virginia on Tuesday with equipment to build a temporary port on Gaza’s coast, AFP reported.
US officials say the idea of the port is to get more aid into Gaza, where the entire population is facing food shortages and children are starving to death. President Biden is taking the extreme measure instead of pressuring Israel to allow more aid into the Strip by cutting military assistance.
According to a report from The Jerusalem Post, the idea to build the port actually came from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who proposed it to Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides in October. Under the US plan, the aid shipments will go through Cyprus and will be subject to Israeli inspection, meaning they can be turned away.
The port isn’t expected to be completed for 60 days, and many Palestinians could starve to death in that time. A total of 1,000 US troops will be deployed to build the pier, which puts them at risk of being targeted by Hamas.
“We expect the pier to be fully operational in approximately 60 days which will be able to facilitate the delivery of about 2 million meals per day,” Pentagon spokesman Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder said.
The Pentagon insists there will be no US “boots on the ground” but acknowledged the risk of them coming under attack, which would likely lead to a significant escalation in US involvement in Israel’s genocidal war.

Drivers of cars manufactured by General Motors, Ford, Honda and other popular brands say that their insurance rates went up after the companies sent data about their driving behavior to issuers without their knowledge.
Kenn Dahl, 65, is a Seattle-area businessman who told The New York Times that his car insurance costs soared by 21% in 2022 after GM’s OnStar Smart Driver computerized system installed in his Chevy Bolt collected information about the particulars of his driving habits.
Dahl said that his insurance agent told him the price increase was based on data collected by LexisNexis, which compiled a report tracking each and every time he and his wife drove their Chevy Bolt over a six-month period.
According to Dahl, the 258-page report contained information about the start and end times of his trips, distance driven and other data detailing possible instances of speeding, hard braking and sharp accelerations.
The report contained information about one particular trip in June which lasted 18 minutes and spanned 7.33 miles
During that same trip, the LexisNexis report recorded two instances of rapid acceleration and two incidents of hard braking.

Poll: Two Thirds Of Liberals Would Dispute Election If Trump Wins
After over three years of complaining about Donald Trump contesting the 2020 election, a Rasmussen poll has found that a majority of Democrat voters oppose certifying the 2024 election should Trump emerge victorious.
The survey found that should Trump win the election in November, and at this point it is difficult to bet against it, fifty seven percent of Democrat voters would oppose certifying the result, and close to two thirds of voters who identify as ‘liberal’ would oppose the result.
That’s not very Democratic is it

EU Digital ID can create a QR code society leading to social credit: minority of MEPs warn
Ahead of last week’s vote on an update to the European digital identity framework, a small number of MEPs spoke out against the adoption of an EU-wide digital identity wallet, calling it an insult to democracy that was creating a QR code society and leading to a Chinese-style system of social credit.
The updated regulation was adopted last Thursday, with a majority of MEPs welcoming the European digital identity wallet as being a safe, secure, and convenient digital tool for all European Union members.
“The idea of a digital wallet essentially puts the finishing touches on a path that will lead us to the total control of society […] From here the European Union can become an all-encompassing and perpetual QR code society”, Gerolf Annemans, MEP for Belgium.
“Privacy experts have been sounding the alarm and warning since this proposal emerged. Because how voluntary is a system that can centrally enforce compliance with rules by allowing access to essential services and therefore ipso facto also not allowing it? From here the European Union can become an all-encompassing and perpetual QR code society.
“I therefore call on my colleagues to err on the side of caution and reject this gateway to a Chinese-style social credit system.
“The choice before us is clear: embrace a future of surveillance and control, or uphold the principles of freedom and autonomy that define our democratic society.”
French MEP Virginie Joron said that the digital identity wallet could further “an authoritarian drift” like we saw during lockdowns, and that the system could also lead to a QR code society like the Chinese system of social credit:
“Madam President, Commissioner, dear colleagues, you wanted to inscribe the QR Code in the bodies of our fellow citizens. No transport, no medical care, no nightclubs, standing, sitting, lying down or dynamic beach cafes. July 12, 2021 will remain a dark day for France for our freedoms."

House Votes To Force TikTok Owner ByteDance To Divest
As part of a legislative move that may potentially eliminate TikTok from US app stores if it doesn’t divest itself from the Chinese state-associated company Bytedance, the House of Representatives today approved a relevant bill by a majority vote of 352 to 65, with one member abstaining.
We obtained a copy of the bill for you here.
Showing a rare moment of bipartisan agreement in an otherwise polarized political landscape, both Democrats and Republicans rallied behind the measure....
If the legislation passes in its current form, Bytedance will have a 165-day window to divest from TikTok or else it will face US prohibition.
Further regulations would stipulate that the purchaser should not originate from a hostile nation to the US.
