China Set To Deliver New Missile Defense Systems To Iran: Report
US intelligence assesses Iran still has thousands of ballistic missiles it could use if the war resumes
US intelligence assessments indicate China is preparing to deliver shoulder-fired anti-air missile systems (MANPADs) to Iran in the coming weeks, CNN reported on 11 April.
In response, a spokesperson for the Chinese embassy in Washington denied the report.
“China has never provided weapons to any party to the conflict; the information in question is untrue,” the spokesperson stated.
“As a responsible major country, China consistently fulfills its international obligations. We urge the US side to refrain from making baseless allegations, maliciously drawing connections, and engaging in sensationalism; we hope that relevant parties will do more to help de-escalate tensions.”
MANPADs posed an “asymmetric threat” to low-flying US warplanes and military aircraft throughout the course of the war launched by the US and Israel against Iran on 28 February.

The US-born pontiff has become an increasingly vocal critic of Washington’s war rhetoric, amid reports of Pentagon officials threatening the Vatican over its anti-war stance
Pope Leo XIV on 11 April denounced what he called a “delusion of omnipotence” fueling the US–Israeli war on Iran, urging political leaders to halt the fighting and pursue negotiations.
“Enough of the idolatry of self and money!” he said. “Enough of the display of power! Enough of war!”
Speaking during an evening prayer service in St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Leo delivered his strongest remarks yet as US-Iran talks began in Pakistan and a fragile ceasefire was held.
The US-born pontiff did not explicitly name Washington or President Donald Trump.
However, his message appeared directed at US officials who have promoted military dominance and framed the war in religious terms.
