FCC Set To "Supercharge" Starlink Space Internet With "Seven-fold More Capacity"

Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr wrote on X that the agency will vote late this month on an order aimed at "supercharging" internet access by scrapping outdated power limits on satellite broadband, unlocking faster speeds, greater capacity, and more reliable service.

On April 30, the FCC will vote on " Modernizing Spectrum Sharing for Satellite Broadband ," which would "promote efficient spectrum sharing between geostationary and non-geostationary satellite systems" and, in the FCC's own words, would " unlock more than $32 billion in economic benefits for the American people and up to seven-fold more capacity for space-based broadband services ."

FCC explained more:

Drawing from the state-of-the-art in satellite technology, the FCC's new technical rules would revise the decades-old framework for how Geostationary Orbit (GSO) and Non-Geostationary Orbit (NGSO) systems share spectrum. That 1990s-era framework predates the revolutionary changes in spectrum sharing technology that have been developed in the decades since.

The FCC's new framework will enable faster speeds, lower costs, and greater reliability, representing another step to ensure that consumers benefit from competitive and affordable Internet options.

Israeli Cabinet 'secretly' Greenlights Dozens Of Illegal West Bank Settlements

Israel's expanded approval of Jewish settlements comes amid increased settler violence against Palestinians

Israel's cabinet has secretly approved a record number of new Jewish settlements in the occupied Palestinian West Bank amid the war with Iran, Israeli media reported on 10 April.

According to the Times of Israel (TOI), Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet ratified 34 new settlements in a single decision several weeks ago.

Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are illegal under international law.

The decision puts the Israeli government on a course to surpass its own record for establishing settlements in a year. According to the Israeli activist group Peace Now, 54 settlements were approved by the Israeli government last year – an all-time high.

Sources told i24NEWS that the cabinet initially kept the decision classified. However, details were leaked on Thursday with approval from Israel's military censor.

❗️Turkiye & Syria boost central bank cooperation to spur trade

Turkiye and Syria are stepping up cooperation between their central banks, Trade Minister Omer Bolat said on Tuesday, noting that Syria’s central bank governor is set to meet with Turkish banking regulators.

Speaking at a business forum, Bolat said stronger banking links and the potential entry of Turkish lenders into Syria could support increased trade and industrial investment.

State-owned Ziraat Bank and private lender Aktifbank are both working to establish a presence in Syria, company officials said separately, with applications already submitted and operations expected to start in the near term.

Business leaders at the forum said that restoring banking services and addressing customs and logistics challenges would be essential to boosting bilateral trade.
