Kamal Kharazi, an 81-year-old advisor to the Iranian government and former Iranian foreign minister, was severely wounded by a US-Israeli strike on his home on Wednesday that killed his wife, Iranian media has reported.
Kharazi, chairman of Iran’s Strategic Council on Foreign Relations, was seen as a potential negotiator and, according to Iranian officials speaking to Iran’s Mehr News Agency , he was overseeing engagement with Pakistan for a possible meeting between Iranian officials and Vice President JD Vance.
The Iranian officials said they saw the attack on Kharazi’s home as an attempt to derail diplomacy. It’s unclear if the US or Israel launched the strike.
While Israel is suspected of being behind the attack since it has an interest in keeping the US in the war, the Trump administration has engaged in deception campaigns when it comes to diplomacy with Iran, and could just be lying about its desire for a deal.
President Trump has continued to insist that negotiations have been underway, but Iranian officials continue to deny that talks are taking place, and there’s no evidence of genuine diplomacy. Trump continues to threaten to escalate attacks on Iran and bomb more civilian infrastructure if a deal isn’t reached.

New Israeli Violations Leave Dozens Of Casualties In Gaza
Israel continues to attack the Gaza Strip on a daily basis despite its ongoing wars on Iran and Lebanon
The Israeli military has continued to violate the Gaza ceasefire agreement with deadly violations, with dozens of new Palestinian casualties recorded over the past 24 hours.
“The total number of people who arrived at hospitals in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours is seven new martyrs and 17 injuries,” the Health Ministry in Gaza said in a statement on 6 April.
“A number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, as ambulance and civil defense crews have been unable to reach them so far,” the Health Ministry added.
An Israeli airstrike hit northern Gaza’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood on Monday, injuring a child and killing one person. Hours earlier, one was killed in an Israeli attack on a World Health Organization (WHO) vehicle in Khan Yunis.
Israel has continued its indiscriminate attacks on Gaza despite the ongoing wars against Iran and Lebanon.

The US government has ordered satellite imaging firm Planet Labs to indefinitely halt the release of imagery from the war in West Asia, the company confirmed on 6 April, warning they could expose “vulnerable military positions,” yet reports suggest the move aims to conceal the extent of Iranian damage to US assets.
Planet Labs said it would enforce an “indefinite withhold of imagery,” applied retroactively to images captured from 9 March, and expected to remain in place until the war ends.
Satellite imaging company Planet Labs says it will indefinitely withhold Iran war imagery after a request from the Trump administration.
The company notified its customers via email, adding that US authorities had asked all providers to block visuals of the war zone.
The restriction expands earlier measures introduced in March, when Planet Labs delayed releases by 96 hours, later extending that delay to 14 days.
The firm said the new policy would limit access to high-resolution images of Iran, US-linked bases, and surrounding regions, with only select visuals released on a case-by-case basis if deemed in the public interest.
US officials justified the move by warning that publicly available satellite images could expose “vulnerable military positions,” particularly after Iran demonstrated its ability to strike US bases, aircraft, and radar systems across the region.

The firm said the new policy would limit access to high-resolution images of Iran, US-linked bases, and surrounding regions, with only select visuals released on a case-by-case basis if deemed in the public interest.
US officials justified the move by warning that publicly available satellite images could expose “vulnerable military positions,” particularly after Iran demonstrated its ability to strike US bases, aircraft, and radar systems across the region.
The imagery had been widely used by journalists and open-source analysts to independently verify damage claims on both sides of the war.
Sites captured in the imagery included US-linked facilities such as Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia and infrastructure in Tehran, including Mehrabad International Airport.
