US Deploying Another Aircraft Carrier To The Middle East For Iran War
The US is deploying a third aircraft carrier to the Middle East for operations against Iran, US officials told media outlets on Tuesday, a sign that the war will continue to escalate despite President Trump’s claims that he is looking to end the conflict.
The aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush and other warships that are part of its strike group departed Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia on Tuesday and are expected to arrive in the Middle East in a few weeks. The US Navy said the strike group’s departure is part of a regularly scheduled deployment.
According to The Wall Street Journal , once the Bush arrives in the region, the US could have three carriers deployed for the Iran war for the foreseeable future, though Al Arabiya reported that the warship could replace one of the two carriers that have been involved in the conflict: the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been operating in the Arabian Sea, or the USS Gerald Ford, which is currently in Croatia after being in Crete for reparis.
The Ford, which was operating in the Eastern Mediterranean near Israel, went to port after a major fire on the ship destroyed the beds of 100 crewmembers . The US military has insisted that the blaze was caused by a fire in the ship’s laundry room, though there are suspicions that an attack or sabotage was the real cause. The Ford has also been on an extended deployment and is set to break the record for the longest deployment since the Vietnam War.
In addition to sending a third aircraft carrier to the Middle East, the US has deployed thousands of Marines and US Army Airborne troops to the region as the Pentagon prepares for potential ground operations. Trump is insisting the war could be over in a few weeks, but escalating to a ground war would likely lead to a much longer conflict.

US President Donald Trump said on 31 March that countries that did not join his war on Iran, namely France and the UK, should “take” the Strait of Hormuz if they need fuel.
“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the US, we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT,” the president said on his Truth Social platform.
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the US won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” he added.
“The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!” Trump went on to say.
On the same day, Axios reported that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said last week during a G7 meeting that Washington does not need help reopening the Strait of Hormuz. According to the report, Rubio said the US wants G7 nations to join a maritime security force to police the strait once the war is over.

President Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday that other countries that are reliant on energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz should get involved militarily and “take it” from Iran, as the Iranian military continues to control the strategic waterway.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth backed up President Trump’s comments during a press briefing at the Pentagon , suggesting other countries should “stand up” to help open the strait.

It’s not just the United States Navy. Last time I checked, there was supposed to be a big, bad Royal Navy that could be prepared to do things like that as well,” Hegseth said.

President Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday that other countries that are reliant on energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz should get involved militarily and “take it” from Iran, as the Iranian military continues to control the strategic waterway.
“All of those countries that can’t get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the US, we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT,” the president wrote on Truth Social.
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the USA. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil! President DJT,” he added.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth backed up President Trump’s comments during a press briefing at the Pentagon , suggesting other countries should “stand up” to help open the strait.
“I think the president was clear this morning in his truth that there are countries around the world who ought to be prepared to step up on this critical waterway as well. It’s not just the United States Navy. Last time I checked, there was supposed to be a big, bad Royal Navy that could be prepared to do things like that as well,” Hegseth said.

Syria's self-appointed President Ahmad al-Sharaa said on Tuesday that Syria will remain outside the US-Israeli war against Iran unless it comes under attack and has no diplomatic options left.
"Unless Syria is targeted by any party, Syria will remain outside any conflict," he said during an event organized by Chatham House in London.
"We do not want Syria to be an arena of war. But unfortunately, today, things are not governed by wise minds. The situation is volatile and random," Sharaa said.
"We want Syria to have ideal relationships with the entire region, with Lebanon, Iraq, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and world powers like the UK, France, Germany and the US I think that Syria is qualified to start a strategic relationship network," he added when asked whether Syria would remain neutral.
