$14 Billion US Aid Package for Israel Crafted to Prepare for ‘Multi-Front War,’ Not Just Gaza

The $14 billion is included in the $95 billion foreign military aid that was recently passed by the Senate

The $14 billion in additional military aid for Israel that President Biden is seeking was designed not just for operations in Gaza but also to prepare Israel for a “multi-front war,” The Times of Israel has reported.

A senior Biden administration official told The Jewish Telegraphic Agency that the $14 billion is “for Israel to defend itself in a multi-front war and to be sure it can deter a multi-front war.”

Israel has been escalating airstrikes in Lebanon against Hezbollah, though many strikes have killed civilians. The fire across the border risks a full-blown war, and there are no signs tensions will ease anytime soon. Israeli officials have been threatening to invade if Hezbollah doesn’t move back from the Israel-Lebanon border.

US officials have acknowledged to The Washington Post that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might view war in Lebanon as key to his political survival, as polling has shown Israelis want him to step down after the current conflict.

Israel also appears to be attempting to provoke Iran as several members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have been killed by Israeli airstrikes in Syria since October 7. According to The New York Times, Israel was also behind a covert attack on two natural gas pipelines inside Iran.

US Intel Has "Low Confidence" in Israeli Claim That 12 UN Staff Participated in Hamas Attack

The US and several other Western countries cut funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) after Israel claimed that several members of the organization participated in the Hamas attack on October 7. The US intelligence community has “low confidence” in the veracity of the Israeli assertions. The Washington Post reports having evidence of a single UNRWA member in Israel.

In January, Tel Aviv began circulating the claim that 12 members of UNRWA attacked Israel on October 7 and that scores of other members have ties to Hamas. The release of the claims was timed with the International Court of Justice ruling that Israel was plausibly committing genocide in Gaza.

Earlier this month, Tel Aviv released a summary of its intelligence for the assertions to several news outlets. After reviewing the Israeli dossier, multiple outlets reported that Israel had provided no evidence to back the claims that members of UNRWA are aligned with Hamas.

Still, Washington and several other top donors to UNRWA backed Tel Aviv’s allegations and cut funding to the agency. Secretary of State Antony Blinken described the claims as “highly, highly credible.”

US Officials See Ukraine as an Active and Bountiful Military Research Opportunity

American officials speaking with the Washington Post described the ongoing war in Ukraine as providing Washington with ample information about Russian war-fighting strategies. The report comes as Kiev struggles to field enough forces to prevent Moscow from capturing more territory. 

“The war remains an active and bountiful research opportunity for American military planners as they look to the future, officials say,” the Post reported. A senior defense official explained, “We immersed them in this conflict to make sure they were understanding the implications for warfare.” A second official told the outlet that the Ukraine war will be “an enduring resource.”

Netanyahu’s Post-War Plans for Gaza Call for Military Occupation "Without Time Limit"

Israel has released its first draft of its plans for post-war Gaza. Throughout the four months of a brutal onslaught, Israeli forces have decimated the Strip and killed 30,000 Palestinians. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s post-war plans call for “operational freedom of action in the entire Gaza Strip without a time limit” and “demilitarization” of Palestinians.

The Israeli government first released the document to some media outlets on Thursday (Feb 22). According to the translation from NBC News, the document says, Israel will “maintain its operational freedom of action in the entire Gaza Strip, without a time limit,” and “The security perimeter being created in the Gaza Strip on the border with Israel will remain as long as there is a security need for it.”

Israel is also requesting control of the border between Egypt and Gaza. Netanyahu’s plan may face resistance in Washington and Cairo. Egypt has demanded that Israel not deploy its forces along the border. The US has asked Israel not to expand buffer zones in Gaza. However, Tel Aviv has ignored nearly all of Washington’s requests over the past four months with no impact on US aid shipments to Israel.

Netanyahu says he will not allow the rebuilding of the Strip to begin until the Palestinians have been “deradicalized.” Additionally, Tel Aviv plans to have complete control over the future political system in Gaza. Netanyahu says the Strip will be fully demilitarized.

Kyiv Has Right to Strike "Russian Military Targets Outside Ukraine," Says NATO Chief for the First Time

Ukraine has the right to strike “Russian military targets outside Ukraine” in line with international law, NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg has said for the first time since the start of the full-scale war nearly two years ago.

Stoltenberg acknowledged that the use of western-supplied arms to strike targets in Russia had long been a point of contention among Kyiv’s allies, due to fears of escalating the conflict.

“It’s for each and every ally to decide whether there are some caveats on what they deliver, and different allies have had a bit different policies on that,” Stoltenberg told Radio Free Europe in an interview on Tuesday (Feb 20).

“But in general, we need to remember what this is. This is a war of aggression by Russia against Ukraine, in blatant violation of international law. And according to international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defence,” Stoltenberg added. “And that includes also striking legitimate military targets, Russian military targets, outside Ukraine. That is international law and, of course, Ukraine has the right to do so, to protect itself.”

The debate over using western weapons to strike Russia is likely to intensify as some NATO allies begin to ship F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The US-made aircraft, if armed with long-range missiles, could significantly increase the potential range of Kyiv’s strikes into Russian territory.

Tulsi Gabbard Endorses Donald Trump for US President

Former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii has denounced her former party as enemies of democracy driven by a lust for power, while praising the Republican favorite for the presidential nomination, Donald Trump.

Gabbard was once the vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee, but resigned in 2016 to protest the “rigging” of the party primaries against Bernie Sanders and in favor of Hillary Clinton. On Thursday (Feb 22), she spoke at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), held just outside the US capital.

In her speech, Gabbard denounced the “Democrat elite and the swamp creatures in Washington” as having no respect for Americans and their rights, and being “driven by their insatiable hunger for power.”

She praised Trump as “a fighter” whose strength and resilience come from “a sincere love and concern for the future of our country and his care for the American people.” Meanwhile, President Joe Biden, whom she endorsed in 2020, would “crumble” under a fraction of the pressure and attacks currently directed against Trump, she said.

Top Israeli Officials Demand 'More Settlements, More Guns' As West Bank Violence Surges

The crisis gripping the occupied West Bank has led many to warn that Israel's continued violations could soon spark a third Intifada

Senior Israeli officials are calling for the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank and for the delivery of more weapons to settlers in the wake of the latest Palestinian resistance operation on 22 February.

"The serious attack on Maale Adumim must have a decisive security response but also an answer from the settlements … I demand the prime minister approve the convening of the higher planning council and immediately approve plans for thousands of housing units in Maale Adumim and the entire region," anti-Arab Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said via social media.

This came on the heels of a statement by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who said his office will continue to arm extremist settler groups that terrorize Palestinians across the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.

"We're distributing more and more guns. I think that today everyone understands that guns save lives … Six months ago, I said that the right to life is more important than the right to free movement for residents of the Palestinian Authority," the Jewish supremacist told reporters. "The right to life for Jewish residents in the West Bank is more important than the freedom of movement for residents of the Palestinian Authority."

"I expect that there will be more and more checkpoints, that there will be restrictions. Our enemies do not look for excuses; our enemies just want to harm us," he added.

Ben Gvir also echoed claims made several months ago by his coalition partner Smotrich that "there is no such thing as the Palestinian people" and stressed he would increase pressure on the government to ban Palestinian worshippers from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Since the start of Israel's campaign of genocide against the Gaza Strip nearly five months ago, the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem have witnessed a significant spike in settler pogroms and violent raids by the Israeli army.

Alexei Navalny’s Death and Curious Well-Timed Coincidences

There is propaganda by commission and propaganda by omission, the former often serve to conceal the latter. Timing is crucial.

That the U.S. President Joseph Biden, his British, NATO, Israeli allies, and their corporate media mouthpieces are in need of a major propaganda victory is obvious. They are losing the war in Ukraine, have been condemned throughout the world for the genocide in Gaza, and are ruling over a disintegrating empire. Biden and Netanyahu’s political lives are at serious risk. And so they have just rolled out a full-court propaganda press effort aimed at covering their losses. It should be crystal clear to anyone who can use logic to see the timing involved.

Once the death in a Russian prison of the Western backed Russian dissident Alexei Navalny was announced on Friday, February 16, 2024, it was immediately followed by a cascade of anti-Russia pronouncements whose aim was to not only continue the demonization of Russia and its President Vladimir Putin but to serve other purposes as well.

With one fell stroke, the calm history lesson about Ukraine, Russia, and U.S./NATO that Putin had just delivered to the world via Tucker Carlson disappeared down the memory hole, as Biden, without any evidence, declared that “Putin and his thugs” and Putin’s “brutality” are responsible for Navalny’s death. This, of course, is a replay of the false charges sans evidence waged against Russia for an earlier poisoning of Navalny, the Skripals (since disappeared by the British government), Alexander Litvinenko, et al.

Shortly after, Zelensky, performing his puppet routine while coincidently appearing at the Munich Security Conference—on Saturday, February 17, a day after Navalny’s death was announced—with Navalny’s then widow, said it was “obvious” that Putin had killed Navalny, while Biden pushed for more money for Ukraine’s doomed war against Russia.

New Israeli Report Alleging "Systematic and Intentional Rape" by Hamas Relies on Debunked Western Media Reports

Western media outlets are hyping a new report by the Israeli government-affiliated Association of Rape Crisis Centers (ARCC) which maintains that Hamas combatants carried out a campaign of “systematic and intentional” rape on October 7.

“Israeli report finds evidence of ‘systematic’ rape and abuse during 7 October attack,” a Guardian headline blared. “Report shows systematic rapes, murder of women in Israel on October 7,” Germany’s DPA screamed. Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post shrieked, “Hamas terrorists forced families to watch loved ones get raped at gunpoint.”

Despite the AP’s acknowledgment that the report “did not specify the number of cases it had documented or identify any victims, even anonymously” and that its authors “declined to say whether they had spoken to victims,” dozens of mainstream outlets have presented its findings as incontrovertible fact.

Yet a close examination of the ARCC report reveals that the paper is short on new research, absent of hard evidence, and reliant instead on clips from factually-challenged articles by the same Western outlets promoting its publication. Among the paper’s most frequently cited sources is an infamously shoddy New York Times report by Jeffrey Gettleman purporting to detail “How Hamas Weaponized Sexual Violence on October 7.”

Following an internal staff uproar prompted by a series of Grayzone exposés which highlighted major inconsistencies and demonstrable falsehoods by the paper’s sources, the Times canceled an episode of its Daily podcast about the article.

Despite the controversy surrounding the Times’ report, the ARCC cites it twelve times in its own paper, while sourcing testimony second-hand from many of the same discredited Israelis as the Times.

Number Of Aid Trucks Entering Gaza Drops Significantly

Border authorities say the number has decreased from 100–130 trucks to as little as four on some days

The border crossing authorities in Gaza’s south have reported a significant decrease in humanitarian aid trucks entering the Strip, Arab World Press (AWP) reported on 21 February.

"Today 13 trucks entered through the Kerem Abu Salom crossing and from the Rafah crossing only four trucks of fuel entered while previously between 100–130 trucks were entering," Spokesman for the Crossings and Borders Authority in the Gaza Strip Hisham Adwan told AWP on Tuesday.

Adwan noted that on some days, only four trucks entered the besieged enclave.

"There is a significant reduction in the number of trucks, which makes the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip more difficult,” Adwan said, explaining it was due to “Israeli demonstrations near the Kerem Shalom crossing to prevent their entry.”

Adwan added that the quality of aid has remained the same, "it is limited to canned meat, blankets, tents, some cleaning materials, some medicines and medical supplies," he said.

The Crossing and Borders Authority spokesman emphasized that 70 percent of the medical supplies entering Gaza are not needed at this time, highlighting medicine for the COVID-19 virus as one example.

On a similar note, the UN World Food Programme (WFP) has decided to suspend food deliveries to the northern Gaza Strip “until conditions are in place that allow for safe distributions.”

“The decision to pause deliveries to the north of the Gaza Strip has not been taken lightly, as we know it means the situation there will deteriorate further and more people risk dying of hunger,” the WFP said in a statement on Tuesday.
