In an interview broadcast on Asharq News on 3 March, Adhwan al-Ahmari, the editor-in-chief of Independent Arabia and the president of the Saudi Journalists Association, said that “not all attacks” targeting Persian Gulf nations come from Iran, and stressed fears that the US–Israeli alliance wants to “trap” Gulf nations into joining the war.

“Some believe this war is an American-Israeli trap to implicate the Gulf countries and draw them into a confrontation with Iran,” Ahmari said. “This hypothesis, I think, increases every day.”

A tense exchange occurred between Donald Trump and New York Times White House correspondent Shawn McCreesh during a press interaction at the White House on Monday amid mounting questions about the US-Israeli bombing of an elementary school in Iran.

McCreesh challenged Trump over his claim that Iran may have been responsible for the strike on the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls’ school in Minab, which was hit on 28 February, the first day of the US–Israel war on Iran. The attack killed over 160 people, most of them schoolchildren.

During the exchange, McCreesh pressed Trump on why he was asserting a theory that Iran had somehow struck its own school.

Several advisers to US President Donald Trump are urging him to outline an "exit plan" from the war on Iran, warning that rising oil prices, mounting economic pressure, and growing domestic opposition could turn the campaign into a political liability.

Iranian Armed Forces, State Institutions Pledge Allegiance To New Supreme Leader

Iran’s armed forces and key state institutions have pledged allegiance to new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, son of the late leader Ali Khamenei, after his appointment in the early hours of 9 March.

Shortly after the decision was announced, Iran’s security and political institutions moved to publicly declare loyalty to the new leader.

Statements were issued by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Defense Council, the Defense Ministry, the IRGC Quds Force, and other military branches, affirming their commitment to the leadership transition.

According to Tasnim News Agency, the pledges emphasized the forces’ readiness to defend the Islamic Republic and protect national security during what officials described as an ongoing war imposed by the US and Israel.

The Defense Council declared, “We will obey the commander-in-chief until the last drop of our blood.”

US Bombs Iraqi PMU Base As Iran War Spillover Widens

An Israeli force reportedly landed near Najaf to install jamming and tracking radars to counter Iraqi resistance drones

An airstrike on 9 March struck a base in northern Iraq belonging to the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), a wing of the Iraqi armed forces enjoying support from Iran, according to officials from the group.

AFP reported that one PMU official attributed the strike to US forces, saying it hit a base near the town of Bartella near the city of Mosul in Nineveh Governorate.

The PMU was established in 2014, after Shia religious leader Ali Sistani called for volunteers to fight ISIS following the terror group’s capture of Mosul.

The group received support from famed Iranian general Qassem Suleimani and was later incorporated into the Iraqi armed forces.

Footage shows smoke billowing after strikes targeted positions of the Popular Mobilization Forces’ (PMF) 30th Brigade in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul on Monday.

There is some overlap between the PMU and Shia armed groups operating under the umbrella of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq (IRI), including Kataib Hezbollah and Asaib Ahl al-Haq, which receive backing from Iran.

Members of Iraq’s other religious groups have since joined the PMU, including Sunnis, Yezidis, and Christians.

No casualties were reported in the attack in Bartella, which comes amid the US-Israeli war on Iran launched on 28 February.

Since the start of the war in Iran, bases belonging to the PMU have been hit by US strikes several times, while resistance groups affiliated with the PMU have reportedly carried out attacks against US targets.

On 6 March, a drone struck a hotel in Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region (IKR), where US military personnel were reportedly staying. Ashab al-Kahf, an Iraqi resistance group, claimed responsibility for the attack. No casualties were reported.

The following day, a drone attack targeted the Erbil airport, where US forces maintain a base.

The IRI later took credit for the attack. “Our brave men targeted the airport base in Erbil, occupied by the American occupation, with two drones, which successfully struck their targets,” the group said in a statement.

The attack was carried out in response to Israel’s killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on the first day of the war. The strike was launched in fulfillment of their “religious duty,” and “in retaliation for the Zionist-American aggression,” the statement added.

‘10 Classrooms Full Of Children’: US-Israeli War Kills Hundreds Of Iranian, Lebanese Kids

“Classrooms of children in Iran. Hundreds of people in Lebanon. The ongoing genocide in Gaza,” said Jeremy Corbyn. “The message from our political and media class is clear: Their lives are less valuable than others.”

US and Israeli airstrikes have killed nearly 300 Iranian and Lebanese children over the past nine days as the attackers target apartment towers, single-family homes, schools, medical facilities, and other civilian infrastructure .

Iran’s Health Ministry said Sunday that 198 women and 190 minors have been killed by US and Israeli attacks since February 28, including six children under the age of 5. The youngest reported victim is an 8-month-old girl. Children account for more than 30% of those killed, according to the ministry, which also said that 1,044 women and 638 children have been injured.

Overall, Iran said that more than 1,300 people have been killed by the airstrikes, which are reportedly targeting 30 of the country’s 31 provinces.

The Lebanese Health Ministry announced Sunday that 394 people, including 42 women and 83 children, have been killed by Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacks after Iran-backed Hezbollah joined the war.
