Russia Creates Blacklist of YouTubers

As echoed in a report by TASS, a Russian state news agency, a unique strategy is being implemented by Russia’s Civic Chamber to impel bloggers utilizing YouTube, to dislocate and establish their platforms on homegrown Russian social media networks.

Alexander Malkevich, a key player in the Civic Chamber’s Commission for the Development of Information Society, Media, and Mass Communications, revealed that the Civic Chamber is in the initial stages of constituting a list of “noncompliant” Russian bloggers, who deliberately bypass Russian social media networks whilst broadcasting their content on YouTube.

Malkevich conveyed an ominous catchphrase cited by TASS—“If you shield your revenues and refuse to divert to our platforms, it is either hastened by ignorance, habit or adversary operations.”

Closing statements from attorneys will take place on the final day of the #FluorideLawsuit this Tuesday, February 20th at 9:30 a.m. (Pacific) / 12:30 (Eastern).

The judge has had time to watch deposition videos, look over evidence, and prepare a series of questions for attorneys. Both the plaintiffs (FAN) and the defendants (EPA) have approximately 40 minutes each for their remarks, though last week the judge said that he would like most of that time to be used to answer his questions, favoring a dialogue rather than presentations.

The FAN legal team has also advised us that Tuesday’s proceedings will likely be very technical and focused on science and risk assessment.

Iraqi Militias Stopped Attacks on US Forces at Request of Iranian General

A visit from an Iranian general to the Shia militias in Iraq led to a pause in attacks on US forces, Reuters reported on Sunday (Feb 18), citing Iranian and Iraqi sources.

Brig. Gen. Esmail Qaani made the trip to Iraq on January 29, one day after three US troops were killed in a drone attack on a base in Jordan near the Syrian border. He warned that the death of the American soldiers would likely provoke a heavy American response and said the groups should lie low to avoid being targeted.

A day after the visit, Kataib Hezbollah, one of the most powerful Shia militias in Iraq, announced it was suspending attacks on US troops. In its statement, Kataib Hezbollah said Iran “repeatedly declared opposition to our escalation against the US forces in Iraq and Syria.”

Initially, one faction did not agree to the Iranian request, and there were a few more attacks on US bases, but there have been none since February 4, the day six US-backed Kurdish fighters were killed in a drone attack on a US facility in Syria.

On Tuesday (Feb 20), Michael Connett, lead attorney representing the Fluoride Action Network and plaintiffs, made his final attempt to convince U.S. district judge Edward Chen that the 80-year-old practice of water fluoridation is lowering IQ in children and should be banned.

Throughout the proceedings of the final day of the lawsuit, Connett argued that despite uncertainty surrounding the exact concentration at which fluoride causes harm, the evidence that plaintiffs presented over the last two weeks makes it clear that fluoride is a neurotoxin. He encouraged the judge not to let the “perfect be the enemy of the good."

NYP: Covid Vaccines Linked To Slight Increases In Heart, Brain, Blood Disorders: Study

COVID vaccines from companies like Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca have been linked to rare occurrences of heart, brain and blood disorders, according to the largest vaccine study to date.

Researchers from the Global Vaccine Data Network analyzed 99 million people who received jabs in eight countries and monitored for increases in 13 medical conditions, Bloomberg News reported.

The study, which was published in the journal Vaccine last week, found the vaccines were linked to a slight spike in neurological, blood and heart-related medical conditions.

Rare cases of myocarditis — inflammation of the heart muscle — were found in the first, second and third doses of Pfizer-BioNTech’s and Moderna’s mRNA vaccines.

Another heart condition, ​pericarditis, the inflammation of the cardiac muscle, had a 6.9-fold increased risk in those who received a third dose of AstraZeneca’s viral-vector shot, the study found.

Meta Is Expanding Its Controversial “Fact-Checking” Program to Other Platforms

Threads starts rolling out a “fact-checking” program.

Meta’s Threads – the X clone which cynics might call “the social platform nobody asked for” – and which few are (for some reason) using – is nonetheless implementing speech-restricting measures similar to those on Meta’s successful sites like Facebook or Instagram.

And so, those behind Threads are keeping themselves busy by “rolling out a fact-checking program,” said the reports.

They also allege that Threads is “distancing itself from politics” (how does any, even semi-free platform even manage to accomplish that? The answer seems to be – they don’t).

Apparently, the distance supposedly created here is not big enough to keep Threads out of the censorship politics. We are talking about the only thing this could mean at this time – “misinformation” in the context of elections.

Google To Start Running “Prebunk” Ads and Quizzing YouTube Viewers To Fight So-Called “Misinformation”

Little has changed when it comes to YouTube's attempts to influence election-related content.

Prebunking – until relatively recently it was just one of the fringe concepts in the relentless “war on misinformation industrial complex.”

A short way to describe it is as a dystopian version of debunking false or incorrect information. But here the idea is to stop users (“help them identify”) unwanted content, before they can even see it.

A short way to describe what’s wrong with the “war on misinformation” is that it all too easily turns into a smokescreen for plain censorship of lawful and factually correct speech.

And now, prebunking is moving from ideations pushed by murky “fact-checking” and similar outfits, to the very top of the mainstream – Google.

China Blasts US for Giving Israel "License To Kill" After UN Veto

China has let its frustration be known after the US was the lone veto to the UN Security Council vote on Tuesday (Feb 20) urging a ceasefire in Gaza, which would have brought immense international pressure to bear on Israel to stop its offensive.

The UN text called for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" and was proposed by Algeria for the 15-member Security Council's approval. It was seen as having widespread Arab backing. The vote was 13-1 with the UK abstaining and the US being the lone 'no' vote, which is a familiar pattern historically on Israel-related issues.

China's envoy to the UN has said the US stance is tantamount to handing Israel a "license to kill" as it's "nothing different from giving the green light to the continued slaughter," according to the words of Chinese Ambassador to teh UN Zhang Jun.

"The U.S. veto sends a wrong message, pushing the situation in Gaza into a more dangerous one," said Zhang further, at a moment the death toll in Gaza is approaching 30,000—according to Palestinian sources.

Israel Demolishing Buildings to Construct Road in Gaza to Cut the Strip Into Two

Israel is demolishing buildings to build a road through central Gaza that will cut the Strip in two, demonstrating Israel’s long-term plans to occupy the territory.

Israel’s Channel 14 reported on the road, which is being built in an area known as the Netzarim Corridor. The new road, known as Highway 749, will separate Gaza City from the rest of the Strip.

Israel is creating a 1-kilometer “buffer zone” to the north and south of the road, similar to the zone it’s creating along the entire Israel-Gaza border. According to The New Arab, among the structures likely to be demolished to build the road is the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital, which was shut down in November due to an Israeli siege that cut off fuel.

The construction will also require the demolition of Al-Aqsa University, several villages, amusement parks, and agricultural land. Israeli soldiers said the purpose of the road was to make it easier to launch incursions into Gaza, and it could also prevent the movement of Palestinians from the south to the north.

The Wall Street Journal also reported on the highway and said it would effectively create a militarized belt across Gaza that will help prevent the 1 million Palestinians who fled the north from returning to their homes.

What is now called X is in the process of becoming “a single application that encompasses everything,” he recently told employees.
