Israeli Finance Minister Demands Closure Of US Coordination Center For Gaza

Smotrich says he wishes to reverse the 'sin' of the 2005 disengagement plan by re-establishing Jewish settlements in Gaza

Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich asked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on 19 January to shutter the US-led multinational coordinating center established by US President Donald Trump to oversee Gaza.

“The time has come to dismantle the headquarters in Kiryat Gat,” said Smotrich, one of the most powerful ministers in Netanyahu’s cabinet, in remarks shared by his office to the media.

The Civil Military Coordination Center (CMCC) is based in the city of Kiryat Gat, located northeast of Gaza. The center was established by the US military after Trump announced his 20-point “peace plan” in October.

The CMCC has hosted civilian and military personnel from as many as 60 countries working alongside US and Israeli officials to administer the strip.

So far, its most important task has been to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, which Smotrich has long opposed and Israeli officials have sought to undermine.

❗️Saudi Arabia adjusts Vision 2030 timelines, transfers project scopes to private firms

Saudi Arabia is transferring the scope of certain Vision 2030 projects to the private sector as it adjusts timelines to prevent economic overheating, Economy Minister Faisal al-Ibrahim told Reuters.

In an interview in Davos, Switzerland, Ibrahim said the government is being "agile" in managing its ambitious development pipeline, rescoping some projects while continuing to advance its Vision 2030 economic transformation objectives.

"The private sector is ready now and even more eager to participate," Ibrahim said on Monday, adding, "Recently, some entire scopes of projects were given to the private sector to deliver with some regulatory support and guidelines."

Trump Says He Reached Framework Of Greenland Deal

The President also announced that he would roll back tariffs on European countries

President Donald Trump said he reached the “framework” of an agreement regarding Greenland after talks with NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte.

“Based upon a very productive meeting that I have had with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte, we have formed the framework of a future deal with respect to Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic Region,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Wednesday . “This solution, if consummated, will be a great one for the United States of America and all NATO Nations.”

The President did not provide details of the framework agreement. Trump later said that “it’s a little bit complex, but we’ll explain it down the line,” adding the potential agreement is just a “concept.”

He explained that Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff would lead the US in talks on Greenland.

It’s unclear whether Rutte has the power to negotiate an agreement with the US over Greenland. Rutte is the former prime minister of the Netherlands and the current top civilian official at NATO.

Israel is attempting to force the UN aid agency for Palestinians to cease operations for Israel

National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir led Israeli forces as they demolished the headquarters of UNRWA (the UN aid agency for Palestinians) in East Jerusalem.

“[This is] a historic day for sovereignty in Jerusalem,” Ben Gvir said. “Today, these terror supporters are being kicked out along with everything they built. This is what will be done to every terror supporter.”

Aryeh King, the mayor of Jerusalem, made an even more aggressive statement. “God willing, we will expel, kill, eliminate and destroy all UNRWA personnel,” he said.

Tel Aviv has been attempting to end UNRWA operations in Israel and the occupied territories, an effort that has intensified since the October 7 Hamas attack. UNRWA provides key services to Palestinians, including food, education, and medical care.

UNRWA chief, Philippe Lazzarini, slammed the destruction of his agency’s headquarters in a post on X.

India, UAE Agree To ‘Double’ Bilateral Trade To $200bn In Six Years

Several agreements including a major gas deal were finalized during MbZ’s talks with India’s premier in New Delhi

India and the UAE have agreed to double their bilateral trade to $200 billion within six years and boost defense ties, during talks between UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed (MbZ) and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

During the meetings, New Delhi and Abu Dhabi also finalized a 10-year Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) deal for the supply of 0.5 million metric tons of LNG by Emirati state energy company ADNOC to India's Hindustan Petroleum Corp Ltd.

They have also inked agreements on defense cooperation, space, food exports, investment, and advanced computing.

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed reporters after the talks and said the new trade target reflects the “growing depth” of the economic partnership between the UAE and India.
