Washington State Diverted $340M in Federal COVID Funds to Illegal Immigrants, Including via $1,000 Checks

A new report is highlighting how federal COVID funds were used in Washington state to give $1,000 checks to illegal immigrants who were ineligible to receive federal economic impact payments during the pandemic due to their immigration status.

The report, by the Economic Policy Innovation Center (EPIC), points to money administered by the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF), which was created by the American Rescue Plan Act and was intended to help state and local governments with their response and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Washington state received $4.4 billion in funding overall from that program.

The report from the group, which calls for a smaller federal government, highlighted how $340 million in funding went to a program that sent $1,000 checks to illegal immigrants in the state.

"The $340 million project is categorized as a ‘cash transfer’ expenditure under the SLFRF, approved for the State of Washington. This means the Biden Administration directly subsidized ‘undocumented’ immigration under the guise of COVID-19 pandemic relief," the EPIC report said.

Your unfounded slurs will not change my vote because America is broke and my constituents can afford no more."

Things Thomas Massie has been called because he held a principled stance against reckless spending:

- 'Grandma killer' for opposing the CARES Act
- 'Putin puppet' for opposing Ukraine funding
- 'Antisemitic' for opposing massive foreign aid to Israel

Ad hominem attacks are for those who are unable to convince people in the arena of ideas.

Senate Unveils $118 Billion Bill With Money for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and New Yemen War

The Senate Appropriations Committee on Sunday (Feb 4) unveiled a massive $118 billion spending bill that includes military aid for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, as well as spending for President Biden’s new war with Yemen’s Houthis.

The bill is the result of months of negotiations between Senate Democrats and Republicans on border policies and includes $20 billion in border spending. But some Republicans are unhappy with the agreement and seek more stringent border policies.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) rejected the deal and said he would bring a stand-alone bill for Israel to the House floor for a vote this week. The House bill would provide $17.6 billion to support the Israeli slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza, while the Senate bill includes $14.1 billion for Israel.

The Senate bill would authorize $60 billion to spend on the proxy war in Ukraine and $4.8 billion to “support key regional partners in the Indo-Pacific,” a portion of which will go toward replenishing arms sent to Taiwan.

The bill also provides $2.44 billion to US Central Command and to “address combat expenditures related to the conflict in the Red Sea,” where US naval forces have been bombing Yemen and downing Houthi drones and missiles.

CBC Pushes Lies About Freedom Convoy on ‘Kids News’ Channel

🇨🇦@COVID19Up: On Friday's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra discussed the CBC project CBC Kids News and its inherent creepiness. The website and accompanying YouTube channel focus on progressive topics, having child actors read lines written by adults about topics such as climate change and 'gender-affirming care.'

"I can't imagine any normal teenager would naturally trust a government outlet, let alone think of the CBC as a source for news," Ezra commented. "It's so condescending. It's so boring and so woke, but who knows — they're obviously doing it for a reason."

"Maybe the whole reason is simply designed to impress Justin Trudeau and keep the tax dollars flowing to the CBC," Ezra proposed. "Like all government media, they really don't care about their actual audience except that one viewer, Justin Trudeau who controls their money."

But it was one specific story on CBC Kids News that caught Ezra's eye, one which falsely claimed that the findings of the Rouleau report constituted a legal ruling on the constitutionality of the Emergencies Act. However, CBC Kids News failed to mention that a Trudeau-appointed judge oversaw a public inquiry — not a court case. A lawyer with the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms considered the inquiry an "important document" but legally non-binding.

"Did Angelica Cooper even read the judgment? Because it specifically said the opposite of what she just wrote," Ezra concluded.

UK HAS A PROBLEM: Excess deaths are up a staggering 22% among 1 to 14-year-olds.

Notably, this trend didn’t start until “the magic juice started to be issued to children later in 2021.”

2020: 9 percent fewer deaths than expected
2021: 7 percent fewer deaths than expected
2022: 16 percent MORE deaths than expected
2023: 22 percent MORE deaths than expected

Additionally, the United States continues to experience a high rate of excess deaths among individuals under the age of 25:

2020: 10 percent more deaths than expected
2021: 20 percent more deaths than expected (mandates)
2022: ~20 percent more deaths than expected
2023: 16 percent more deaths than expected

UK health officials are quietly investigating a 10% rise in deaths across all age groups. They believe “circulatory diseases and diabetes are ... behind the increase.”

UN Launches Review of UNRWA ‘Neutrality’ Over Allegations of Staff Ties to Hamas

The United Nations on Monday (Feb 5) announced it had appointed an independent review group to investigate concerns that the U.N. body responsible for Palestinian refugees is compromised over ties to terrorist groups, in particular Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The review is aimed at analyzing the policy of “neutrality” for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), following allegations that 12 of its staff operating in Gaza participated in Hamas’s deadly Oct. 7 attack on Israel. A separate investigation by the U.N. Office of Internal Oversight Services is being carried out related to the allegations against the 12 staff members.

The U.N. has appointed former French Foreign Affairs Minister Catherine Colonna to work with three organizations to conduct the review of UNRWA, the U.N. body assisting Palestinian refugees across the Middle East that is viewed as a critical agency in the Gaza Strip.

The United Nations review group will begin its investigation on Feb. 14 and is expected to submit an interim report to the U.N. secretary-general by late March, with a final, public report expected to be completed by April.

The U.N. said that the investigation will review UNRWA’s policy to ensure “neutrality and to respond to allegations or information indicating that the principle may have been breached.”

Iraq Bans Several Commercial Banks From US Dollar Dealings

The move comes as an attempt to avoid US restrictions on Iraq’s financial system

The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) banned eight local banks from making US dollar transactions on 4 February, in an attempt to avoid sanctions and US financial restrictions.

A CBI document lists the banned banks as Ahsur International Bank for Investment, Investment Bank of Iraq, Union Bank of Iraq, Kurdistan International Islamic Bank for Investment and Development, Al-Huda Bank, Al-Janoob Islamic Bank for Investment and Finance, Arabia Islamic Bank, and Hammurabi Commercial Bank.

"We commend the continued steps taken by the Central Bank of Iraq to protect the Iraqi financial system from abuse, which has led to legitimate Iraqi banks achieving international connectivity through correspondent banking relationships,
” a US Treasury Department spokesman said on Sunday.

The measures come after Iraqi officials met with the US Treasury Department’s top sanctions official Brian Nelson last week.

In late January, Washington imposed sanctions on Al-Huda Bank, one of the banks listed in the CBI document, under claims it laundered money for Iran. Several other banks have been hit with similar sanctions over the past year.

Somewhere in the answer to that question, is the prime reason for why BRICS is rising..

Why So Many Scientists Are Finally Paying Attention to Fluoride

"[In 2020,] we had a seven day trial featuring expert testimony on both sides. And the judge, at the end of that trial, stated that he wanted to wait to make his decision until the National Toxicology Program, NTP, released its systematic review of fluoride neurotoxicity."

"So the case was on hold, and we waited and waited and waited. And two years later [...] I got word from someone in a position of knowledge, an anonymous source, saying that something was happening, political interference was occurring, and that the report was being squashed. And it may never be published. And when I heard that, I told the court what we found out, and I just asked to take the case out of the abeyance, or out of the stay, because we could wait forever, in which case, we won't have a case. Right? And the judge agreed..."

‘Dangerous’ Aftereffects Linked to Using Mixed Reality Headsets

A team of researchers from Stanford University conducted field tests to investigate the psychological and behavioral impacts of prolonged passthrough video headset use. Their findings highlight a mix of experiences that could shape the future of human-computer interaction.

“Given how far headsets with passthrough video have come, it’s time to dedicate serious academic thought to the psychological and behavioral effects of this technology,” says study author Jeremy Bailenson, the Thomas More Storke Professor in the Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences and founding director of the Virtual Human Interaction Lab (VHIL), in a university release. “We want to understand the implications of living in a life in which we rely on passthrough for hours every day to see the world around us.”

Participants engaged in various activities, from walking around campus to buying coffee, all under the watchful eyes of a chaperone to ensure safety. Despite the initial thrill, researchers quickly encountered drawbacks, including visual distortions, feelings of social disconnection, and motion sickness, which raised concerns about the technology’s practicality for extended daily use.

The study detailed how passthrough video could alter perception, limiting peripheral vision and presenting a “funhouse mirror” effect that distorts reality. Users reported difficulties with simple tasks like giving high fives or eating, as the technology’s limitations led to misjudgments in distance and object size.

These visual inaccuracies, combined with a delay in the video feed, not only challenged users’ interactions with the environment but also sparked a phenomenon the researchers termed “social absence.” This sense of disconnection from people in the immediate vicinity, as if they were mere images on a screen, underscores the potential social ramifications of widespread headset adoption.

“I was surprised because all 11 of us in this study are headset veterans, but even from relatively short periods of use, we tended to feel uncomfortable,” explains Bailenson.

Given these findings, the Stanford team advises mixed reality users to approach the technology with caution.

UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Urges UK Government to Halt Imminent Extradition of Julian Assange

The UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Alice Jill Edwards, on Tuesday (Feb 6) urged the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) to halt the possible extradition of Julian Assange to the United States of America.

She called on British authorities to consider Julian Assange’s appeal based on substantial fears that, if extradited, he would be at risk of treatment amounting to torture or other forms of ill-treatment or punishment.

“Julian Assange suffers from a long standing and recurrent depressive disorder. He is assessed as being at risk of committing suicide. In the United States, he faces numerous charges, including under the Espionage Act of 1917 for alleged unlawful releases of diplomatic and other cables and documents via WikiLeaks. If extradited, he could be detained in prolonged isolation while awaiting trial, or as an inmate. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 175 years in prison,” Edwards said.

“The risk of being placed in prolonged solitary confinement, despite his precarious mental health status, and to receive a potentially disproportionate sentence raises questions as to whether Mr. Assange’s extradition to the United States would be compatible with the United Kingdom’s international human rights obligations, particularly under article 7 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, as well as respective articles 3 of the UN Convention against Torture and the European Convention on Human Rights,” the Special Rapporteur said.

U.S. Blocks Yemen-Saudi Peace Deal

The US is purposely blocking a Yemen peace deal that was negotiated between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, The New York Times reported on Tuesday (Feb 6).

The US decision to re-designate the Houthis as “Specially Designated Global Terrorists” will block the payment of public sector workers living in Houthi-controlled Yemen, who have gone without pay for years.

The payment of civil workers has been a key demand of the Houthis and is part of the first phase of the peace deal. The first phase would also fully open Yemen’s airports and sea ports that have been under blockade since 2015, another aspect of the deal that will be complicated by the new US sanctions, which will go into effect later this month.

A US official told the Times that the US would only allow the payment of Yemeni civil salaries if the Houthis choose the path of “peace” and stop attacking shipping in the Red Sea. But the Houthis, who govern the most populated area of Yemen, have been clear the operations will only stop once the Israeli slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza ends.

Instead of pressuring Israel to stop its onslaught, President Biden launched a new war against the Houthis, which has dramatically escalated the situation. The Houthis are now targeting American and British commercial shipping, and there’s no sign they will back down.
