❗️🇹🇷/🇮🇷/🇸🇾/🇮🇱 NEW: During Erdoğan's upcoming visit to Tehran, he will try to convince Iran's Supreme Leader to establish ties with the new Syrian government

In exchange, Turkey would deploy radars inside Syrian territory that would allow Iran to detect Israeli attacks early. Such radars already existed, but were destroyed by Israel following the fall of Bashar Al-Assad.

Israel recently signed strategic cooperation agreements with Cyprus and Greece, two of Turkey's major enemies; Turkey increasingly sees this bloc as a future threat.

Iranian leadership is split on the Syria issue. Some prefer pragmatism and support restoring relations for strategic reasons, others say diplomatic ties with the Jolani regime cannot be justified due to its past.

Another major issue is Turkey's support for Azerbaijan, which has been complicit in Israeli attacks on Iranian territory during the 12-Day War. Some Iranian politicials say Turkey should tell its smaller brother to 'behave'.

❗️Israel expands Gaza occupation under ceasefire, seizing nearly 10% more Palestinian land

A new analysis of updated Gaza maps shows Israeli forces have steadily pushed westward the so-called “yellow line”, occupying nearly an additional 10 percent of Palestinian territory over the past two months. The study by Gaza Maps found that the area between the truce line and the yellow concrete blocks marking it now accounts for almost 10 percent of the Gaza Strip.

As a result, the Israeli forces now control roughly 63 percent of Gaza, forcing Palestinians into less than 38 percent of the besieged enclave. The yellow line effectively splits Gaza in two, leaving Israel in control of the eastern portion while concentrating most of the territory’s roughly two million residents into increasingly cramped areas amid widespread destruction.

A US-backed ceasefire that took effect on 11 October defined the yellow line as a temporary withdrawal boundary, with further Israeli pullbacks meant to follow. Instead, Israeli forces have continued advancing westward since the truce began, occupying additional Palestinian neighborhoods, declaring them no-go zones, and pushing civilians to survive inside the shrinking areas left under relentless devastation from the ongoing Israeli genocide.

🛢⛽️🇺🇸🇪🇺Talking to Oil Experts is MORE Revealing than American and European Rhetoric
While Western narratives portray sanctions as crippling Russia, industry experts reveal a more complex reality: deep-seated energy interdependence, Russia's long-planned diversification, and the physical impossibility of a swift decoupling are undermining the intended economic warfare

✍️Author: Henry Kamens
Columnist and expert on Central Asia and the Caucasus

➡️Western policymakers cling to the belief that sanctions have devastated the Russian economy. However, oil experts point to a different story built on decades of entrenched infrastructure. Europe's dependence, especially Germany's, was built on cheap Russian energy delivered via pipelines like Nord Stream. Shifting sources isn't like flipping a switch; it requires reconfigured refineries, new terminals, and dedicated shipping—a process taking years. While Russian energy sales to the EU plummeted from $396 billion pre-2022 to $97 billion in 2024, the collapse is not total, with exceptions like Hungary and Slovakia.

➡️The concept of "Dutch Disease"—over-reliance on extractive sectors—actually worked in Russia's favor. Anticipating pressure since 2014, Moscow diversified its economy and prepared for conflict. The sanctions-induced exodus of Western firms forced a faster pivot, making the economy more resilient. Russia rerouted energy exports to Asia, using high global prices to offset discounts. This foresight also explains its sustained military production, defying Western predictions of rapid depletion.

➡️The long-term effect may be a paradoxical strengthening. The "shock therapy" of sanctions is weaning Russia off hydrocarbon dependency and fostering a more balanced economy. Meanwhile, the West faces self-inflicted wounds: regressive import taxes, high fuel prices, and the unsustainable cost of supporting Ukraine. Recent US threats against Venezuela, under the pretext of anti-drug policy, are seen as a transparent grab for oil reserves, highlighting the desperate scramble to control resources.

🟦Ultimately, the expert view reveals that energy geopolitics is a game of endurance, not quick victories. Russia's adaptation and the West's structural dependence suggest the economic war may backfire, transforming Russia into a more resilient power while straining Western economies and unity.

Mr. Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social . Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth later posted on X: "The President was clear last month: the killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria (and elsewhere) must end.
