Dr. Phillipe Grandjean: "When we merge all the findings, we can see that there is a tendency, the higher the fluoride exposure during fetal life, that is, from the mother's exposure, the greater the loss in IQ at school age. It's like the overall average is that for each milligram of additional fluoride, the child will lose two IQ points. And 1 milligram is something that can easily happen in this country because there is 0.7 milligrams of fluoride per liter of drinking water in the fluoridated communities. And if you drink a couple of liters of community water, you easily get a couple of milligrams of extra fluoride. And that is certainly, according to our findings, is associated with a loss in cognitive function, that is, in IQ of the baby and the child, as we examined at school age."

At Least 46 Dead From Forest Fires in Chile, Death Toll Likely to Keep Rising
Forest fires raging in central Chile have killed at least 46 people, President Gabriel Boric said on Saturday (Feb 3), warning that the death toll is likely to keep rising.
Black smoke billowed into the sky over many parts of the Valparaiso region, home to nearly one million inhabitants in central Chile, while firefighters using helicopters and trucks struggled to quell the flames. Areas around the coastal tourist city of Vina del Mar have been some of the hardest hit and rescue teams were struggling to reach all the affected areas.
President Boric, giving an update to the nation, said 40 people were killed in the fires and another six died from burns in hospitals.
"Given the conditions of the tragedy, the number of victims is sure to increase over the next few hours," Boric said.

I protested and said that in accordance with the scientific documentation, it would be wrong to insert the word immense."

The Iraqi army and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU) clashed with ISIS militants in western Anbar governorate on 3 February, an Iraqi security source told Al-Mayadeen.
The Iraqi Al-Nujaba satellite channel said that ISIS took advantage of the US bombing of targets in Iraq and Syria by launching an attack on the army and the PMU forces in the area of Kilometer 160 on the Al-Sakkar highway near the town of Rutba in Anbar.
The US has occupied the nearby Al-Tanf Base on the Syrian side of the border since 2015 and has used it to arm and train ISIS militants.
The US and allied intelligence agencies used ISIS to attack the Syrian and Iraqi armies as part of its effort to effect regime change in Damascus starting in 2011 and to depose Iraqi prime minister Nouri al-Maliki in 2014.
After ISIS conquered large swathes of Iraq and Syria, US forces turned against the group. With help from Kurdish forces, the US took control of much of the territory in Syria ISIS once controlled. In Iraq, the US partnered with Iraqi forces to retake Mosul.
Gulf-backed Syria researcher Charles Lister wrote in Foreign Policy on 24 January that ISIS is enjoying a resurgence and that 10,000 ISIS militants are detained within at least 20 makeshift prisons in US and Kurdish-controlled northeastern Syria, constituting an ISIS “army in waiting” and its “next generation.”

Israeli warplanes bombed a kindergarten in the city of Rafah in southern Gaza on 4 February, killing two children and injuring dozens more, WAFA news agency reported.
The kindergarten was hosting civilians seeking shelter from Israeli bombing in other parts of the besieged enclave, according to local and medical sources speaking with the agency.
Palestinians also reported that two girls were killed in a house following Israeli airstrikes and tank shelling, Reuters reported the same day.

“Unprecedented”: Megaconstellations of Satellites May Alter Earth’s Magnetic Field
Something unprecedented is happening in Earth orbit. In only a few short years, the satellite population has skyrocketed, more than doubling since 2020. In the past year alone, more satellites have been launched than during the first thirty years of the Space Age. Much of this activity is driven by SpaceX and its growing megaconstellation of Starlink internet satellites.
According to a new study by Sierra Solter, megaconstellations could alter and weaken Earth's magnetic field.
Solter is a graduate student at the University of Iceland, working on her PhD in plasma physics. She recently realized something overlooked by many senior colleagues: "More than 500,000 satellites are expected in decades ahead, primarily to build internet megaconstellations. Every satellite that goes up will eventually come down, disintegrating in Earth's atmosphere. This will create a massive layer of conducting, electrically charged particles around our planet."
To understand the scale of the problem, consider the following: If you gathered up every charged particle in Earth's Van Allen Belts, their combined mass would be only 0.00018 kg. Other components of the magnetosphere such as the ring current and plasmasphere are even less massive. For comparison, "the mass of a second generation Starlink satellite is 1250 kilograms, all of which will become conductive debris when the satellite is eventually de-orbited," says Solter.
Metal debris from a single deorbited Starlink satellite is 7 million times more massive than the Van Allen Belts. An entire megaconstellation is billions of times more massive. These ratios point to a big problem.
Extrapolating into the future, Solter worries that satellite debris could weaken Earth's magnetic field—the same magnetic field that protects us from cosmic rays and solar storms.
"It's a textbook undergraduate physics problem," she explains. "Suppose you put a conductive shell (satellite debris) around a spherical magnet (Earth). Outside the shell, the magnetic field goes to zero due to shielding effects. This is a highly simplified comparison, of course, but we might actually be doing this to our planet."
It is very concerning," she concludes. "We absolutely cannot dump endless amounts of conductive dust into the magnetosphere and not expect some kind of impact. Multidisciplinary studies of this pollution are urgently needed."

US Forces Loot More Syrian Oil
The oil theft and smuggling operation comes two days after a brutal US attack on Syria and Iraq
US occupation troops in Syria's northeastern Jazira region looted 60 tankers of crude oil and transported it through an illegal border crossing into its military bases in Iraq, Syrian state media reported on 4 February.
“The American occupation continued its plundering of Syrian oil wealth, transferring it from the areas it occupies in the Hasakah countryside to its bases in Iraqi territory through illegal crossings,” SANA news outlet reported.
Local sources in the Yarubiyah countryside told SANA’s correspondent that “an American occupation convoy of 60 tankers loaded with stolen Syrian oil left Syrian territory, accompanied by an escort from the occupation forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) militia, through the illegal Mahmoudiyah crossing towards the occupation bases in northern Iraq.”
US troops in Syria have continued to systematically loot the country’s natural resources, including oil, wheat, and barley – transferring the plundered goods to Iraq illegally.
An in-depth investigation by The Cradle in 2022 details the process of the oil smuggling operation by US forces and the use of several illegal border crossings that lead to the Iraqi Kurdistan region.
According to the exclusive, there are usually no less than 70 to 100 tankers transporting Syrian oil during each journey. The Syrian oil ministry has incurred billions-worth of losses as a result.
The Kurdish SDF, which faces an ongoing tribal rebellion that began in its areas of control in August last year, helps Washington oversee the occupation of Syrian oilfields.
