US President Donald Trump is planning to announce Phase Two of the Gaza ceasefire agreement before Christmas, according to two US officials and a western source cited by Axios.

“All of the different elements are pretty well-advanced. It's all moving ahead, and the aim is to announce it before people break for the holidays,” said the western source, who is involved in the ceasefire process.

The Trump-led ‘Board of Peace’ will “include approximately 10 leaders from Arab and western countries,” the US officials told the outlet.

Directly underneath the ‘Board of Peace’ will be an international executive body that includes former UK prime minister Tony Blair, Trump’s advisors Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, and other senior officials from different countries represented on the board.

Under that will be a technocratic body of Palestinians not linked to Hamas or the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) Fatah party.

Tiktok Scrolling Can Cause 'brain Rot' According To New American Psychological Association Study

Last year, ‘brain rot’ was crowned Oxford Dictionary’s Word of the Year , a term which captured concerns about the impact of consuming “excessive amounts of low-quality online content, especially on social media.”

Now, recent findings from the American Psychological Association confirm that brain rot is not only real and more than a memed side-effect : it’s a real neurocognitive syndrome that causes measurable damage.

The study , titled “Feeds, Feelings, and Focus: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Examining the Cognitive and Mental Health Correlates of Short-Form Video Use”, directly ties short-form video content (SFV) from algorithm-driven platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts to brain rot.

Researchers analyzed data from 98,299 participants across 71 studies, and discovered that the more short-form content a person watches, the poorer cognitive performance they had when it comes to attention and inhibitory control.

And the videos are being watched a lot, as the review shows that young people now average 6.5 hours per day online.

Congress Prepares To Pass NDAA That Will Give Trump His $1 Trillion Military Budget

The NDAA is worth about $901 billion and will be added to a $156 billion supplemental bill to bring the total US military budget to over $1 trillion

Congress has released its 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and is preparing to pass the sweeping spending bill, which will give President Trump a total military budget of over $1 trillion.

Earlier this year, a supplemental for an additional $156 billion was included in the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” most of which will go toward the 2026 military budget and be added to the $901 billion NDAA unveiled by Congress, bringing total military spending well over $1 trillion.

The supplemental was factored into the White House’s 2026 military budget request, and Congress actually added $8 billion more than President Trump requested in the NDAA.

Over the weekend, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth signaled that the budget could get even bigger. “We received a historic boost in funding last year, and believe that is only just the beginning,” he said at the Reagan National Defense Forum, according to Defense One .

“We need a revived defense industrial base. We need those capabilities. We need them yesterday. And so, resource-wise, I think this room will be encouraged by what we’ll see soon — but I don’t want to get too ahead,” Hegseth added.

Lithuanian-Israeli soldier Tomas Adzgauskas, who took part in the genocide in Gaza, took his own life after posting a message on Facebook saying, in part, “I did things that cannot be forgiven.”:

“October 7, the date that ruined my life and destroyed everything I was.

I can’t anymore, I am ruin and devastation… I did things that cannot be forgiven, and I can’t live with it anymore. No one understands me anyway.

There is a demon inside me that has been chasing me since 7.10. Please forget me and remember the Tomas who was an officer and a sniper commander.

That Tomas died on the 7th; I am only a soul searching for peace. For two years now I haven’t been able to live with myself.”

Adzgauskas took part in the ground invasion of Gaza and was discharged in April 2024. As of 7 October, 2023, an estimated 50 Israeli soldiers have committed suicide.

Israel-Sponsored Gang Leader Abu Shabab Killed By ‘Gunmen’ In Gaza: Report

The gang leader, who is wanted by Hamas, has been leading a Rafah-based militia responsible for aid looting and providing intelligence to the Israeli army

Yasser Abu Shabab, the Israel-backed smuggler and gang leader who commanded a Rafah-based militia of anti-Hamas fighters, was killed on 4 December, Hebrew reports said.

The head of the so-called Popular Forces militia was shot in Rafah by “gunmen,” Israeli Army Radio and Channel 14 said.

Sources cited by the Times of Israel said he died of his wounds after being taken to a hospital in Israel following the clash. Haaretz cited a denial from Soroka Hospital, saying Abu Shabab died in Gaza.

“The hospital said that Abu Shabab did not make it there,” Haaretz reported.

Israel’s Channel 12 said Abu Shabab was killed in “internal tribal fighting.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu selected his military secretary, Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman as the next chief of Mossad, Israeli media reported on 4 December.

The appointment was submitted to the Advisory Committee for Senior Appointments for review. If approved by the committee, Gofman will replace Israel's current spy chief, David Barnea, whose five-year term ends in June 2026.

“The prime minister believes that Maj. Gen. Gofman is the most qualified and suitable candidate to serve as Mossad director and wishes him great success in this important role,” said the prime minister’s office.

Haaretz reported in 2024 that Gofman authorized the leak of confidential information to a 17-year-old Israeli teenager for an influence operation. The teenager was arrested and held in detention for 18 months before it was finally revealed that he had been part of a military operation.

Like many Israeli officials, Gofman is from Europe. He was born in Belarus, immigrating to Israel in 1990 at age 14.

Berlin Approves New Expansion Of Police Surveillance Powers

The law fuses hacking, home entry, and AI into a single blueprint for dystopian modern policing.

Berlin’s regional parliament has passed a far-reaching overhaul of its “security” law, giving police new authority to conduct both digital and physical surveillance.

The CDU-SPD coalition, supported by AfD votes, approved the reform of the General Security and Public Order Act (ASOG) , changing the limits that once protected Berliners from intrusive policing.

Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) argued that the legislation modernizes police work for an era of encrypted communication, terrorism, and cybercrime. But it undermines core civil liberties and reshapes the relationship between citizens and the state.

One of the most controversial elements is the expansion of police powers under paragraphs 26a and 26b. These allow investigators to hack into computers and smartphones under the banner of “source telecommunications surveillance” and “online searches.”

Police may now install state-developed spyware, known as trojans, on personal devices to intercept messages before or after encryption.

If the software cannot be deployed remotely, the law authorizes officers to secretly enter a person’s home to gain access.

This enables police to install surveillance programs directly on hardware without the occupant’s knowledge. Berlin had previously resisted such practices, but now joins other federal states that permit physical entry to install digital monitoring tools.

IT security experts caution that maintaining hidden system vulnerabilities for state use exposes everyone to greater cyber risk. They also question the constitutional legitimacy of combining digital espionage with physical intrusion into private homes.

Turkiye’s defense ministry announced Thursday that work has begun on its first domestically produced submarine (MILDEN), while Ankara has concluded its first corvette export to a NATO partner through a deal signed with Romania.

During its weekly briefing, the ministry confirmed that ASFAT, a defense firm under its authority, signed an agreement with Romania’s defense ministry to supply an Akhisar-class light corvette, the first such sale to another NATO state.

It stated: “Following the construction of the first block of the TF-2000 Air Defense Destroyer at our Istanbul Shipyard Command, construction of the first test block of our National Submarine (MİLDEN) has begun at our Golcuk Shipyard Command.”

Truman carrier strike group during its deployment near Yemen, attributing the mishaps largely to stress and operational overextension. 'Trump Corollary' To Monroe Doctrine: US National Security Strategy Calls For Dominance In Latin America

The strategy calls for the US military to prevent the rise of China in the Western Hemisphere

The White House released US President Donald Trump's new national security strategy on 5 December, calling for a “corollary” to the Monroe Doctrine to ensure US military dominance of the Western Hemisphere and halt the rise of adversarial powers in the region, in an apparent reference to China.

“To ensure that America remains the world's strongest, richest, most powerful, and most successful country for decades to come, our country needs a coherent, focused strategy for how we interact with the world,” the strategy document begins by saying.

Each US president releases such a national security strategy once every term to outline the administration's foreign policy priorities, as well as to guide how the Department of War's massive budget should be allocated.

“The United States must be preeminent in the Western Hemisphere as a condition of our security and prosperity – a condition that allows us to assert ourselves confidently where and when we need to in the region,” the document states.

In recent months, the US has built up its forces in the Caribbean Sea, apparently in preparation for invading oil-rich Venezuela. The US military has carried out over 20 strikes on boats allegedly transporting drugs, killing at least 83 people.

Iran Condemns 'inhuman' US Sanctions Regime To Mark First Intl Day Against Unilateral Coercive Measures

A Lancet study estimates that US-led sanctions kill over 560,000 people each year, with children under five being the most affected

Iran denounced US economic sanctions as “crimes against humanity” that have devastated civilian life, commemorating the first International Day against Unilateral Coercive Measures on 4 December.

The commemoration follows a UN General Assembly (UNGA) vote earlier this year establishing the day through resolution 79/293.

As Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei noted, the date was chosen to match the 1986 adoption of the Declaration on the Right to Development, an instrument meant to protect the basic conditions of human welfare.

Baghaei said unilateral coercive measures imposed without UN Security Council (UNSC) approval strip populations of rights that states are obligated to safeguard, including access to health care, education, and basic economic security.

He argued that economic, financial, and banking sanctions, particularly those enforced by Washington, “deliberately target the lives and well-being of entire populations,” a practice he described as a “crime against humanity.”
