ICC President Vows To 'Resist' US Sanctions Over Gaza Genocide Probe

The president of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Judge Tomoko Akane, has warned that US sanctions imposed over the court's investigation into Israeli war crimes in Gaza will not alter how judges interpret their mandate or handle cases.
Speaking to representatives of the ICC’s 125 member states at the annual meeting in The Hague, Akane said the sanctions campaign ordered earlier this year by US President Donald Trump has “unsettled” the daily lives of officials and disrupted their financial transactions, including in European member states.
The sanctions essentially freeze any US assets the officials may hold, effectively barring them from the US-controlled global banking system, which underpins the vast majority of international financial transactions.
The latest sanctions list includes nine ICC officials, among them six judges and Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan. Sources say the US is now weighing sanctions against the entire institution.
A Le Monde investigation found that Israel and the US led a year-long campaign to stop the ICC from issuing Gaza war-crimes warrants, pressuring Khan through political interventions, jurisdictional challenges, and smear efforts.

The UN has begun the largest reduction of its peacekeeping force in south Lebanon, the UNIFIL, as a result of recent budget cuts and the decision to renew its mandate for only one more year.
The number of UNIFIL forces in Lebanon is being cut down by a quarter, spokesperson Candace Arbil told Russian newspaper Izvestia.
“As a result of budget cuts within the UN system, UNIFIL, has begun the process of reducing its personnel by approximately a quarter. We have already begun this process, and it is expected to be completed by early 2026,” Arbil said.
According to the UN, UNIFIL had 9,900 troops in Lebanon by 20 November this year. Previously, its strength stood at 10,500 personnel.
“Over the past year, peacekeepers have not observed any military activity by Hezbollah or other non-state actors in our area of operations between the Litani River and the Blue Line. We have not recorded the restoration of unauthorized military infrastructure or the reintroduction of unauthorized weapons,” the spokesperson went on to say.

Last summer, a human rights lawyer in Pakistan received a WhatsApp message from an unfamiliar number. It was a journalist – allegedly – sending a link to an article that mentioned the lawyer by name. The journalist's profile picture looked legitimate, the article's headline plausible, the link purportedly belonging to the website of a prominent and trusted European media outlet. But the link was a trap, the site it led to was fake; someone was trying to hack into the lawyer's device.
Something about the message seemed suspicious, so the lawyer forwarded the link to Amnesty International researchers. Forensic analysis by their Security Lab revealed digital indicators known to the lab, that has long tracked spyware – it was Predator, the phone–hacking technology sold by Intellexa, a firm run by Israelis but based abroad and sanctioned by the U.S. According to forensic materials seen by the investigation, additional malicious links were sent to other targets in Pakistan, including politicians, in what was likely an attempt to infect their devices with the spyware.
Amnesty's findings on the lawyer are being published today as part of an international investigation called "The Intellexa Leaks," based on a leak of internal materials from the cyber firm and obtained by reporters. The investigation reveals for the first time the use of Predator spyware in Pakistan, a country that does not maintain diplomatic relations with Israel, and shows how Intellexa continues to sell its advanced hacking tools – despite two years of American sanctions.
Intellexa is likely the largest Israeli offensive cyber company operating outside of Israel and the marketer of the Predator spyware. It was founded by a former senior Military Intelligence officer and a pioneer of the digital surveillance industry, Tal Dilian. Both Dilian and his firm have long operated outside of the oversight of Israel's Defense Ministry – though much of its senior staff and owners are Israelis working abroad. In 2024, the United States imposed targeted personal sanctions on Dilian, who divides his time between Switzerland and Cyprus, and other executives, less than a year after the company itself was placed on an official U.S. blacklist reserved for companies acting against American interests and with whom U.S. entities are forbidden to do business.
Predator is one of the most invasive spywares on the market. If successfully deployed and installed on a smartphone, it can hack the most up-to-date versions of Apple and Google's mobile operating systems, according to leaked materials. It extracts all the contents from hacked devices, including messages from encrypted messaging applications, listens to calls, and remotely activates the microphone and camera, as well as gaining access to additional services used by the target from their phone.

Both Dilian and his firm have long operated outside of the oversight of Israel's Defense Ministry – though much of its senior staff and owners are Israelis working abroad. In 2024, the United States imposed targeted personal sanctions on Dilian, who divides his time between Switzerland and Cyprus, and other executives, less than a year after the company itself was placed on an official U.S. blacklist reserved for companies acting against American interests and with whom U.S. entities are forbidden to do business.
Predator is one of the most invasive spywares on the market. If successfully deployed and installed on a smartphone, it can hack the most up-to-date versions of Apple and Google's mobile operating systems, according to leaked materials. It extracts all the contents from hacked devices, including messages from encrypted messaging applications, listens to calls, and remotely activates the microphone and camera, as well as gaining access to additional services used by the target from their phone.

‘Intellexa Leaks’ Reveal Wider Reach Of Predator Spyware
“This investigation provides one of the clearest and most damning views yet into Intellexa’s internal operations and technology,” said Amnesty International Security Lab technologist Jurre van Bergen.
Highly invasive spyware from consortium led by a former senior Israeli intelligence official and sanctioned by the US government is still being used to target people in multiple countries, a joint investigation published Thursday revealed.
Inside Story in Greece , Haaretz in Israel , Swiss-based WAV Research Collective, and Amnesty International collaborated on the investigation into Intellexa Consortium, maker of Predator commercial spyware. The “Intellexa Leaks” show that clients in Pakistan – and likely also in other countries – are using Predator to spy on people, including a featured Pakistani human rights lawyer.
“This investigation provides one of the clearest and most damning views yet into Intellexa’s internal operations and technology ,” said Amnesty International Security Lab technologist Jurre van Bergen.
Predator works by sending malicious links to a targeted phone or other hardware. When the victim clicks the link, the spyware infects and provide access to the targeted device, including its encrypted instant messages on applications such as Signal and WhatsApp, as well as stored passwords, emails, contact lists, call logs, microphones, audio recordings, and more. The spyware then uploads gleaned data to a Predator back-end server.
The new investigation also revealed that in addition to the aforementioned “one-click” attacks, Intellexa has developed “zero-click” capabilities in which devices are infected via malicious advertising.
In March 2024, the US Treasury Department sanctioned two people and five entities associated with Intellexa for their alleged role “in developing, operating, and distributing commercial spyware technology used to target Americans, including US government officials, journalists, and policy experts.”
“The proliferation of commercial spyware poses distinct and growing security risks to the United States and has been misused by foreign actors to enable human rights abuses and the targeting of dissidents around the world for repression and reprisal,” the department said at the time.
Those sanctioned include Intellexa, its founder Tal Jonathan Dilian – a former chief commander of the Israel Defense Forces’ top-secret Technological Unit – his wife and business partner Sara Aleksandra Fayssal Hamou; and three companies within the Intellexa Consortium based in North Macedonia, Hungary, and Ireland.

A Vocal Jeffrey Epstein Accuser Is Urging Judges To Unseal His Court Records
NEW YORK (AP) — One of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell ‘s most vocal accusers urged judges on Wednesday to grant the Justice Department’s request to unseal records from their federal sex trafficking cases, saying “only transparency is likely to lead to justice.”
Annie Farmer weighed in through her lawyer, Sigrid S. McCawley, after the judges asked for input from victims before ruling on whether the records should be made public under a new law requiring the government to open its files on the late financier and his longtime confidante, who sexually abused young women and girls for decades.
Farmer and other victims fought for the passage of the law, known as the Epstein Files Transparency Act . Signed last month by President Donald Trump , it compels the Justice Department, FBI and federal prosecutors to release by Dec. 19 the vast troves of material they’ve amassed during investigations into Epstein.
The Justice Department last week asked Manhattan federal Judges Richard M. Berman and Paul A. Engelmayer to lift secrecy orders on grand jury transcripts and other material from Epstein’s 2019 sex trafficking case and a wide range of records from Maxwell’s 2021 case, including search warrants, financial records and notes from interviews with victims.
“Nothing in these proceedings should stand in the way of their victory or provide a backdoor avenue to continue to cover up history’s most notorious sex-trafficking operation,” McCawley wrote in a letter to the judges.
The attorney was critical of the government for failing to prosecute anyone else in Epstein and Maxwell’s orbit.
She asked the judges to ensure that the orders they issue do not preclude the Justice Department from releasing other Epstein-related materials, adding that Farmer “is wary” that any denial could be used “as a pretext or excuse” to withhold information.

Part 4 of The McGwire's series on Oct 7th, detailing developments along the narratives of an Israeli Intelligence Stand Down, The Hannibal Directive (which never ended), and The Greater Israel Agenda
...Since I published part 3 of this series on December 3rd, my central thesis points developed have been further substantiated.
...My thesis was that Israeli leadership had existing motivations to allow Oct 7th to happen and purposely fail to act on intelligence indicating an attack was to occur, and that leadership indeed do just that. The motivation for allowing Hamas’s attack to take place was the pretext for retaliation, in the form of depopulating Gaza and paving the way for expanding Israel’s territory and establishing Jewish settlements in Gaza - in line with the Greater Israel agenda.
In this piece I aim to compile important developments along the lines of my already-developed thesis points, as it has been 6 months since I published part 3, and there has been lots of developments, such as Israel refusing to cooperate with the UN’s independent investigation of Oct 7th in April.
...Another noteworthy development that occurred towards the end of writing this piece was the IDF admitting in late May that Netanyahu “Was Warned 4 Times in 2023 About How Enemies Saw Internal Discord”, as described in a Times of Israel Headline.
...Other facets of this “war” will be covered, such as Netanyahu’s declining popularity and the growing protests in Israel led by family members of the hostages (appropriately) accusing Netanyahu of not prioritizing a hostage deal, which ties in with the Hannibal directive. As I have grown fond of saying, The Hannibal Directive never ended.
In March, high ranking Israeli officials stepped forward to condemn Netanyahu for sabotaging hostage negotiations.

Now the question is, since Israel and Hamas were BOTH preparing for “all-out war” in the months leading up to October 7th, as pointed out in Part 1…… WHY THE #%&$ WOULDN’T ISRAELI LEADERSHIP TAKE INTELLIGENCE INDICATING AN ATTACK SERIOUSLY…. let alone repeated intelligence from multiple sources, internally within the nation’s security forces, as well as externally (Egyptian and US intelligence as well).
Moreover……. WHY WOULD INTELLIGENCE OFFICERS AND OBSERVERS WARNING OF THE ATTACK BE THREATENED WITH COURT MARTIAL FOR DOING THEIR JOB PROPERLY AND WARNING OF THE ATTACK BASED OFF SUBSTANTIAL EVIDENCE AND ASSESSMENT?
Many dismiss talk of intelligence failure as simply a result of arrogance and hubris, which maybe would satisfy to potentially explain a dismissal of intelligence from one or two source, but..
When you have multiple internal and external intelligence sources repeatedly warning for a year an attack was being planned.. With internal intelligence providing detailed intel indicating why junior intelligence thought that an attack was on the horizon, with details of the training, and even the attack plans..
and those internal sources were threatened with court martial for continuing to warn despite prior warnings falling on deaf and dismissive ears..
It is hard to simply write off the intelligence failure as an incidental failure, a series of unfortunate coincidences.
Especially when in the months prior to October 7, Israel was already publicly integrating AI with their military in preparation for “all-out war”, and Hamas was threatening “all-out war”.
Why would contingencies and countermeasures NOT be put in place in the event the indications of an attack turned out to be true - even if senior leadership found it improbable?
So while Israel felt the need to prepare for “all-out war” by integrating AI with military equipment in July months before Oct 7th, WHY did Israeli leadership not feel the need to take seriously multiple intelligence officers and sources providing intelligence and warnings indicating an attack?
It is a simple question. And I cannot find anything but a simple answer. Israeli leadership wanted the attack to happen.

Israel’s IDF Bans Android Phones—Iphones Now ‘Mandatory’
Updated Nov. 30 with a new cyber attack targeting Israel’s smartphones.
So this is interesting. Just weeks after Google’s campaign to promote Android as being more secure than iPhone, the smartphone battle has taken a sudden twist. The Israeli military has decided to ban Android phones for senior officers, on security grounds.
The news was broken by Israel’s Army Radio and picked up by The Jerusalem Post . “Under the expected order, commanders from the rank of lieutenant colonel and above will be permitted to use only iPhones for official communications. The step is aimed at reducing the risk of intrusions on senior officers’ handsets, according to the report.”
Even before the current conflict with Hamas and expanding regional skirmishes, there had been multiple reports of " honey pot " attacks targeting Israeli soldiers, to compromise devices and exfiltrate valuable data, including troop locations.
Ironically, just last month Google trumpeted Pixel’s inclusion on the U.S. Department of Defense’s Information Network (DoDIN) approval list. “Google Pixel phones are built on a foundation of mission-ready resilience and intelligent security that is seamlessly integrated into the Google ecosystem," the company said.
Google describes this new certification as a “significant milestone that underscores our commitment to providing federal agencies with secure, cutting-edge technology.” Given the progress Google has made in locking down Android, especially with Android 16 and its Advanced Protection Mode, this will be disappointing headline news.
Only iPhone and Samsung had made the list beforehand. Google said Pixels “are the highest rated for security features empowering government employees to securely connect and collaborate from virtually anywhere—even the most remote environments.”
Not according to the IDF. This move "follows earlier efforts to harden mobile use,” The Post says, “including training and internal drills designed to raise officers’ awareness of social-engineering tactics. In recent years, the IDF even staged scenarios mimicking Hezbollah-linked “honeypots” to stress-test units’ digital discipline.”
Israel National News reports that “in addition, the new guidelines are expected to ban the use of any military cellphone that is not an iPhone. Android devices will be permitted for personal use but prohibited from any operational or command purposes.”
Google has significantly changed Android in the last 18 to 24 months, shoring up its defenses to better compete with iPhone. The next stage of this is the move to restrict sideloading from next year. But as a locked down ecosystem, iPhone still wins out.
