Army Ex-Spokesman Says Israel Lost Social Media Battle, Calls For Propaganda Overhaul

Former Israeli military spokesperson Daniel Hagari said Israel has “lost the war on social media,” describing the online space as the most dangerous and complex arena shaping global public opinion, especially among younger generations.

Speaking at the annual conference of the Jewish Federations of North America in Washington, DC, Hagari urged the creation of a powerful new propaganda apparatus modelled on the capabilities and structure of Unit 8200, Israel’s elite cyber intelligence division. He argued that Israel must now fight “a battle of images, videos, and statistics—not lengthy texts.”

Hagari proposed establishing a unit capable of monitoring anti-Israel content across platforms, in real time and in multiple languages, supplying rapid-response messaging and data to government and media outlets. His plan also calls for the systematic creation of fake online identities, automated bot networks, and the use of unofficial bloggers—“preferably mostly young women”—to shape global perceptions.

He warned that the decisive phase of this battle will unfold a decade from now, when students using artificial intelligence tools search for information on the events of October 7 and encounter “two completely contradictory narratives.”

Hagari, a former navy officer who served in sensitive military roles, became Israel’s top military spokesperson in 2023 before being dismissed from the position earlier this year.

Ben Gvir, Smotrich Join Ministerial Team To ‘Oversee’ Phase Two Of Gaza Truce: Report

Resistance sources have told The Cradle that Israel is hoping to obstruct the second phase and keep the ceasefire process in ‘limbo’

Israel’s security cabinet has voted for the formation of a ministerial team to oversee phase two of the Gaza ceasefire deal, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) reported on 21 November.

The team will be made up of Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir.

The formation of the ministerial team was created late on Thursday, the report said. KAN did not include specifics on the actual ceasefire agreement.

Both Ben Gvir and Smotrich were opposed to the ceasefire agreement, which was reached last month. The two ministers repeatedly stood in the way of truce negotiations since the start of the genocide, and consistently called for the starvation and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

Three days ago, the UN passed a US-drafted resolution to approve the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire plan.

Rich ‘Sniper Tourists’ Allegedly Paid $90K to Shoot Civilians — Including Kids — During ‘Human Safari’ Trips to Sarajevo — New York Post

Wealthy “sniper tourists” allegedly paid upward of $90,000 to shoot people during “human safari” trips to Sarajevo in the 1990s — with an extra fee to kill children, according to wild claims being probed by Italian prosecutors.

The investigation was sparked after an Italian writer alleged he had uncovered evidence that wealthy gun enthusiasts — dubbed “sniper tourists” — would pay Bosnian Serb forces for the chance to gun down residents at random during the four-year siege of the city, the Guardian reported.

More than 10,000 were killed in Sarajevo by snipers and shelling between 1992 and 1996 during the Balkan Wars.

“There were Germans, French, English … people from all Western countries who paid large sums of money to be taken there to shoot civilians,” said Ezio Gavazzeni, the investigative writer.

“There were no political or religious motivations. They were rich people who went there for fun and personal satisfaction. We are talking about people who love guns who perhaps go to shooting ranges or on safari in Africa.”

Gavazzeni said he first read reports of the alleged tourist-led shootings in Italian media outlets in the ’90s, but started digging deeper after watching a 2022 documentary about a former Serb soldier who claimed foreigners would shoot at residents from the hills in Sarajevo.

He claims a key source was a former Bosnian intelligence officer.

The newly launched probe, being led by prosecutors in Milan, is seeking to identify any Italians involved in the so-called sniper tourism.

Gavazzeni said he had already uncovered the identities of some of the Italians allegedly involved in the massacre and they are expected to be questioned by prosecutors in the coming weeks.

The Bosnian Consulate in Milan said the Bosnian government would offer “total collaboration” amid the probe.

“We are impatient to discover the truth about such a cruel matter in order to close a chapter of history. I am in possession of certain information I will be sharing with the investigators,” a spokesperson said.
