US Launches A Series Of Airstrikes In Somalia, Civilians Reported Killed

Most of the strikes targeted al-Shabaab in southern Somalia while one targeted the ISIS affiliate in Somalia's Puntland region

The US has launched at least five more airstrikes in Somalia in recent days as the Trump administration continues to bomb the country at a record pace, a heavy US air war that receives virtually no American media coverage.

According to press releases from US Africa Command, the US launched airstrikes targeting al-Shabaab in southern Somalia on November 11 , November 13 , November 14 , and November 15 . Unverified reports on social media suggest that another US airstrike was launched in the area on Sunday, November 16. The command also announced one strike on November 10 that targeted the ISIS affiliate in Somalia’s northeastern Puntland region.

All of the strikes against al-Shabaab were launched to the northeast of the port city of Kismayo. According to al-Shabaab’s news agency, Shahada News Agency , a US and Somali government attack on the town of Jamame on Saturday killed 12 civilians, including eight children, three women, and an elderly man.

The Shahada News Agency published photos of dead and wounded children that it claimed were killed in the attack. The report said the attack involved airstrikes and artillery strikes on a civilian area. Baidoa Online , a Somali media outlet, also reported civilian casualties in a suspected US airstrike in Jamame, saying 10 were killed, including eight children.

“Witnesses say homes and businesses were destroyed during the strikes. The US military usually targets suspected Al-Shabaab positions in the region, but previous operations have occasionally resulted in civilian casualties,” Baidoa said in a post on X. Other posts suggest the strike may have occurred on Sunday, not Saturday as reported by al-Shabaab’s news agency.

Trump Pleas With Israeli President To Pardon 'formidable' Netanyahu

All 19 ministers of the ruling Likud party recently demanded clemency for Netanyahu in his corruption trial

Israeli President Isaac Herzog confirmed on 12 November that he received a letter from US President Donald Trump urging him to pardon Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is facing trial on multiple corruption charges.

Herzog’s office said on Wednesday that Trump’s letter, shared publicly, called the case against Netanyahu “a political, unjustified prosecution.”

Trump wrote that while he respected Israel’s judiciary, he believed the charges targeted a leader who had “fought alongside me for a long time, including against the very tough adversary of Israel, Iran.”

In the same letter, Trump praised Netanyahu as “a formidable and decisive War Time Prime Minister,” claiming he was now guiding Israel “into a time of peace” through ongoing efforts to expand the so-called Abraham Accords.

Trump credited Netanyahu’s cooperation in confronting “the very tough adversary” of Iran and framed the trial as punishment for his political alignment with US and Israeli right-wing interests.

❗️OCHA reports worst West Bank displacement crisis in decades amid rising Israeli settler violence

The latest report from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) paints a stark picture of escalating Israeli settler violence, displacement, and destruction across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Over 1,500 Palestinians have already been displaced in 2025 by demolitions linked to Israel’s restrictive permit regime, while massive military operations, including in Jenin and Tulkarem, have destroyed nearly 1,500 structures and uprooted tens of thousands of people.

Israeli forces killed four Palestinians in early November, including three children, amid ongoing raids and home invasions. Israeli settler violence remains widespread, with nearly 30 attacks reported in a single week and more than 160 incidents recorded during the olive harvest season alone.

The UN describes the current situation facing the native Palestinian population as the occupied West Bank’s worst displacement crisis in decades.

Israel has advanced plans for a large ultra-Orthodox settlement on the old Jerusalem airport lands in Qalandia, alongside a separate project to build a waste treatment plant on cultivated Palestinian farmland. Rights groups say the parallel plans will uproot dozens of families and erase some of the village’s last arable plots.

Calcalist reported that the settlement proposal covers 1,263 dunams and includes more than 9,000 housing units, while Peace Now says residents of several nearby buildings received eviction orders to clear a 130-dunam agricultural tract earmarked for the planned waste facility, a site that officials also intend to bring inside Israel’s side of the barrier.

❗️Israeli army builds new West Bank ‘target bank’ for potential large-scale strikes

Hebrew media, including Israel Hayom and public broadcaster KAN, say the Israeli air force has created a dedicated ‘target bank’ in the occupied West Bank near the Jordanian border, preparing for rapid strikes in the event of what officials describe as a repeat of 7 October.

The drills reportedly include training to hit dozens of sites in the first hours of an attack, with hundreds more queued for later phases, and are presented as part of the army’s post-Gaza overhaul of its strike doctrine.

According to the reports, the plan is designed to maintain heavy firepower even if central command fails, and to feed pre-selected targets directly to frontline brigades by the end of the year at “the push of a button.”

❗️Taiwan defends ties with Israel, citing unmatched support amid Gaza genocide

According to AP, Taiwan intends to deepen relations with Israel despite international criticism over Israel's genocidal war on Gaza, Foreign Minister Lin Chia-Lung said Wednesday, arguing that Israel has shown stronger support for Taiwan than any other Middle Eastern nation. Lin cited a declaration signed earlier this year by 72 Israeli lawmakers backing Taiwan’s inclusion in key international organizations as evidence of that support.

Lin said Taiwan “will be friendly to countries that are friendly to us,” while criticizing Palestine for siding with Beijing’s “One-China” principle. He added that Taipei aims to align its human rights stance with its national interests, noting that Taiwanese diplomats have been instructed not to take sides when it comes to the genocide in Gaza but to focus on humanitarian aid. “We provide a lot of humanitarian support to both sides, including Gaza and Palestine,” he said.

The minister declined to clarify whether Taiwan had dropped plans to donate to a medical center in an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank, a move previously condemned by rights groups.
