Sources told Reuters and internal planning documents show Venezuela is arming itself and preparing either guerrilla-style resistance or efforts to create chaos if the US launches an air or ground assault.
The guerrilla campaign, described by the government as "prolonged resistance" and referenced on state TV, would deploy small forces at more than 280 sites to carry out sabotage and other irregular tactics, according to the sources and planning papers.
A second approach, labeled "anarchization," would rely on intelligence agencies and armed supporters of the ruling party to foment street disorder in Caracas and render the country ungovernable for foreign forces, one government source and an opposition-linked source said.

Former Al-Qaeda chief and self-appointed Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa visited Washington on 10 November, where he held talks with US President Donald Trump at the White House and met with top International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials.
During the trip, the Syrian president secured a new extension for the suspension of US Caesar Act sanctions issued earlier this year, while formally entering his country into Washington’s ‘anti-ISIS’ coalition in Syria.
This was the first visit of a Syrian head of state to Washington since the country gained independence from France in 1946, and marks a major turning point in Syrian–US relations following the 14-year, US-backed war to oust former president Bashar al-Assad.
Sharaa’s landmark trip to Washington focused on several issues, including investment opportunities in Syria, “so that Syria is no longer looked at as a security threat,” Sharaa told Fox News after the meeting. “It is now looked at as a geopolitical ally. And it’s a place where the United States can have great investments, especially extracting gas,” he added.
“It is clear through the policies of Mr. Trump that he is in favor of the stability of Syria and the territorial unity, and the lifting, the complete lifting of sanctions on Syria. So, he is pushing in that direction,” Sharaa, once known as Abu Mohammad al-Julani, told the Washington Post after his meeting in the White House.

Satellite imagery reviewed by BBC Verify reveals that Israel has demolished more than 1,500 buildings in Gaza areas it continues to occupy since the so-called ceasefire began on 11 October. Entire neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble in less than a month, suggesting a systematic campaign of destruction rather than reconstruction or withdrawal.
Analysts warn the demolitions breach the US-brokered “ceasefire”, which explicitly prohibits further military operations. Yet an Israeli military spokesperson claimed the actions were “in accordance with the ceasefire framework,” a statement that defies both logic and the images of flattened civilian areas.
The policy bears the imprint of US President Donald Trump’s so-called “peace plan,” which promised to end the war but has instead allowed Israel to continue punitive operations under the guise of security which has resulted in dozens killed and injured across Gaza.

In the formal letter, Trump describes Benjamin Netanyahu, who has presided over the mass killing of Palestinians in Gaza and the deliberate starvation of children, as a leader "now guiding Israel into a time of peace."
Netanyahu is currently facing charges of fraud, bribery, and breach of trust in three separate cases that date back to Trump’s first term. The pardon requested by Trump pertains specifically to these legal cases, and not to any of Netanyahu’s actions in Gaza, despite the widespread and ongoing crimes being committed.
In response, Herzog expressed gratitude for Trump’s show of support but clarified that "anyone seeking a pardon must submit a formal request in accordance with established procedures."

❗️Macron pledges to help PA draft constitution for future Palestinian state
France hosted Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas in Paris on Tuesday, where French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to assist the PA in drafting a constitution for a future Palestinian state.
Macron said France and the PA would form a joint committee to develop a new framework for statehood.
“This committee will be responsible for working on all legal aspects: constitutional, institutional and organizational,” Macron told reporters, noting that Abbas had already shared an initial draft of a potential constitution.
He also announced that France would provide 100 million euros ($116.62 million) in humanitarian aid to Gaza in 2025.

US To Build Internment-Style Camps For Palestinians In Israeli-Controlled Gaza
The initiative includes a US-built military base for international forces and could cement a lasting partition of the strip
US President Donald Trump's administration is advancing a controversial plan to build what US officials called “Alternate Safe Communities” for displaced Palestinians inside the Israeli-controlled areas in Gaza that make up half of the strip, The Atlantic reported on 10 November.
According to The Atlantic, the initiative envisions a string of US-backed settlements for Palestinians screened and approved by Israel’s domestic intelligence service. Anyone – or their relatives – found to be affiliated with or supportive of Hamas would be barred from entry, effectively separating them from the majority still living under Hamas administration on the western side of what Israeli troops now call the “yellow line.” Those who cross this barrier without authorization have been repeatedly shot at by Israeli soldiers.
Lieutenant General Patrick Frank, tasked with executing Trump’s post-war “peace plan,” told officials that each community would include temporary housing for up to 25,000 people, along with schools and clinics.
A US engineering firm, Tetra Tech, has reportedly received the first contract to clear rubble and ordnance at a pilot site near Rafah.
The plan is supported by Trump’s son-in-law and former advisor, Jared Kushner, and real estate magnate and West Asia envoy Steve Witkoff, both involved in shaping Washington’s wider reconstruction agenda for Gaza.

Private US documents cited by POLITICO on 11 November have revealed that Washington has no “clear path forward” for the implementation of its ‘peace plan’ in Gaza.
US officials cited in the report are “deeply concerned” that the agreement could collapse due to the difficulty of implementing it.
The documents were presented in October during a symposium for US Central Command (CENTCOM) and the newly formed Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) – established by Washington in the city of Kiryat Gat weeks ago.
Among the documents is a 67-slide presentation detailing the major concerns and hurdles in the way of implementing the deal.
“Divorced from the peace deal is a plan of how to actually implement this peace deal. Everyone is floating around at 40,000 feet and nobody is talking operations or tactics,” a participant in the symposium involved in the planning process told POLITICO.

The pace of Israeli settlement expansion in occupied Jerusalem is accelerating at unprecedented levels, according to a report from Safa News. This is a part of a broader Israeli strategy to cement full control over the city and permanently alter its demographic and geographic character in favor of settlers. Since 7 October 2023, Israeli authorities have intensified efforts to isolate Jerusalem from its native Palestinian surroundings by way of confiscating more land, expanding settlements, and choking Palestinian neighborhoods into fragmented enclaves.
Data from the Colonization & Wall Resistance Commission show that this surge is not an exception but the most dangerous stage of a policy in place since 1967.
According to Jerusalem affairs researcher Fakhri Abu Diab, speaking exclusively to Safa News, Israel’s government is racing to redraw the city’s map to ensure a Jewish majority through political, ideological, and demographic engineering. Settlement activity, he explained, now targets the heart of Palestinian neighborhoods. He warned that Israel’s seizure of land and rapid construction of settler housing, industrial zones, and roads form part of a collective punishment policy aimed at displacing Palestinians.
Since the occupation of Jerusalem, Israel has taken control of 87 percent of East Jerusalem’s land and left Palestinians only 13 percent, with much of it already restricted or taken for settlement and security infrastructure.
Abu Diab noted that before 7 October, Israeli authorities had confiscated around 35,000 dunams in the city, a figure that has surged to 51,000 dunams amid the ongoing genocide in Gaza. The recently approved “E1” project alone consumes 12,000 dunams of Palestinian land east of Jerusalem, linking the city to the Ma’ale Adumim settlement and severing the northern and southern parts of the occupied West Bank.
Since October, Israel has approved over 13,700 new housing units in Jerusalem, a move Abu Diab described as a direct threat to Palestinian life and continuity in the city. He warned that the accelerating expansion risks emptying Jerusalem of its indigenous residents, completing Israel’s plan to establish total control in favor of settlers.
