Slovak Prime Minister Says Ukraine Must Give Up Territory to End War
Ukraine rebuked the remarks, claiming it won't give up territory despite the reality on the battlefield
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said over the weekend that the only way to end the war in Ukraine is for Kyiv to give up some of its territory to Russia.
“There has to be some kind of compromise,” Fico said, according to POLITICO. “What do they expect, that the Russians will leave Crimea, Donbas, and Luhansk? That’s unrealistic.”
Fico was elected toward the end of 2023 after campaigning to end Slovakia’s support for the war in Ukraine. His government followed through on the pledge and stopped supplying Ukraine with military aid, which was significant since Slovakia is a NATO member.
Fico will meet with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Wednesday and said he will tell him that Slovakia will block any attempts to bring Ukraine into NATO. “I will tell him that I am against the membership of Ukraine in NATO and that I will veto it,” Fico said. “It would merely be a basis for World War III, nothing else.”
The Slovak leader said Ukraine was not a “sovereign nation” since it is “under the total influence and control of the United States.”

Turkiye Approves Sweden's NATO Entry
The decision by Ankara leaves Hungary as the final remaining NATO state not yet to approve Sweden's bid to join the US-led alliance
The Turkish parliament on 23 January gave formal approval for Sweden’s ascension to NATO, clearing the Nordic nation’s biggest roadblock after a 20-month delay.
"We support NATO enlargement to improve the alliance's deterrence efforts [...] We hope Finland and Sweden's attitude towards fighting terrorism sets an example for our other allies," head of parliament's foreign affairs commission and ruling AK Party member, Fuat Oktay, said.
Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom welcomed the approval, saying, "We now look forward to President [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan signing the ratification document."
Over nearly two years, Ankara pressed Stockholm to take a harder stance on members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a group that Turkiye, the broader EU, and the US deem as a terrorist organization.
In response to Turkiye’s demands, Sweden introduced an anti-terror bill that makes being a member of these militant groups illegal; the PKK was classified as a terrorist group in Sweden and Finland in 2022.
The approval of F-16 sales to Ankara by the US is also woven within the approval of Stockholm’s NATO bid.
Sweden and Finland sought to join the US-led military alliance following the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, ending decades of neutrality.
All NATO members must unanimously approve applications from countries seeking to join the alliance. While Finland was granted approval, Turkiye delayed Sweden’s entrance into NATO for 20 months.
Erdogan will sign the legislation within the coming days, leaving Hungary as the last member state not to approve of Sweden’s entrance.
However, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban noted on a social media post earlier on Tuesday that he had invited the Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to visit Budapest to negotiate the Stockholm joining the military alliance.

“A clash occurred today between a number of US destroyers and warships in the Gulf of Aden and Bab al-Mandab while they were protecting two US commercial ships,” the spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said in a video statement.

US, Iraq to Start Talks on Future of US Military Presence
The Iraqi government has been calling for an end to the presence as the US continues to launch airstrikes in the country
The US and Iraq will soon begin talks on the future of the US military presence in Iraq, as Baghdad has been calling for the withdrawal of the US-led coalition in response to US airstrikes in the country.
Sources told CNN that the US and Iraq would use a military commission they formed last summer as a vehicle for the talks and that part of the discussions would involve a potential timeline for a US withdrawal.
A report from Reuters about the talks said it was not clear that the negotiations would end with a US withdrawal. The report reads: “The talks are expected to take several months, if not longer, with the outcome unclear and no US troop withdrawal imminent.”
US officials told CNN that the US wants a withdrawal schedule based on the conditions in Iraq, including the status of ISIS and the stability of Iraq’s security forces. Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has said repeatedly in recent weeks that Baghdad can handle the ISIS remnants that are left in Iraq.
Elements of the Iraqi government want to set a date for the withdrawal regardless of the situation with ISIS. The US presence risks sparking another major war in Iraq as Iraqi Shia militias are firing rockets at US bases due to President Biden’s support for Israel’s slaughter in Gaza, and the US has launched several rounds of airstrikes in response
...A spokesman for al-Sudani said the US strikes “blatantly” violated Iraq’s sovereignty.
“This unacceptable act undermines years of co-operation… at a time when the region is already grappling with the danger of expanding conflict, the repercussions of the aggression on Gaza,” the spokesman said.

State Department Refuses to Condemn Israel Shooting Group of Palestinians Waving White Flag
One Palestinian was killed, and the US says it's up to the IDF to determine if the incident should be investigated
The State Department on Wednesday refused to condemn the shooting of unarmed Palestinian men waving a white flag in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, a scene that was captured on video by the UK’s ITV News.
The footage shows an interview with a group of Palestinian men who had their hands raised and said they were trying to locate and rescue their family members. The cameraman then went across the street, and the video shows the men walking down the street with their hands still raised and one holding a white flag.
The man came under fire, and one was killed. A Palestinian videographer who was at the scene told NBC News that the fire came from nearby Israeli tanks. NBC reported that it viewed and verified nine videos of the incident and said the killing took place in an area Israel designated as a “safe zone.”
A reporter for ITV confronted State Department spokesman Vedant Patel about the killing and asked if he would consider it a potential war crime. Patel said he needed more context.

Egypt, Qatar Turning Cold Shoulder to Netanyahu
The rift between Tel Aviv and the two Arab states leading negotiations with Hamas is widening over derogatory comments made by the Israeli premier and members of his cabinet
The two key mediators on the Gaza-Israel war are souring on Tel Aviv following negative remarks by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Qatar said, on 24 January, that it was “appalled” by comments made by Netanyahu, blaming Qatar for financing the Palestinian resistance group Hamas in their fight against the Israeli army on Palestinian territory.
“You don’t hear me thanking Qatar... who are essentially no different from the United Nations or Red Cross, and even more problematic. I have no illusions with regards to them,” Netanyahu reportedly said in a recording obtained by Israel’s Channel 12.
“They have the means to put pressure (on Hamas). And why? Because they finance them,” the Israeli prime minister added, noting that he was “very angry” at the US decision to renew its agreements with Qatar.

"Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended Israel’s regular allowing of Qatari funds to be transferred into Gaza, saying it is part of a broader strategy to keep Hamas and the Palestinian Authority separate
The prime minister also said that, 'whoever is against a Palestinian state should be for' transferring the funds to Gaza because maintaining a separation between the PA in the West Bank and Hamas in Gaza helps prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state."
...Keep in mind, the entire objective of this long-standing policy of Israel supporting Hamas.... boils down to Israel wanting to disrupt and prevent Palestinian Statehood ..."

... None other than Mr. Netanyahu himself had send the Mossad chief and an Israeli Military Commander to “beg the Qataris to keep funneling money into Hamas.”
JPost, 2019:

WATCH🚨- Senator Joe Biden aggressively advocates for bombing 12-year-old Novak Djokovic.
Biden strongly supported bombing Yugoslavia in 1999 without United Nations approval.
Djokovic, who was 12 at the time, remembers how scary it was when Biden's bombs hit his home.
"My dad was carrying my brothers, and my mom was running with stuff, and I slipped, and I fell."
"As I turned around, I looked over the building, and I saw these stealth planes just flying and dropping things, and the ground was shaking."
"That's one of the most traumatic experiences and images in my childhood that stayed with me to this day."
In 1999, NATO bombed Yugoslavia for 78 days without approval from the United Nations, dropping more than 28,000 bombs, including depleted uranium and cluster munitions, killing over 2000 civilians and displacing more than 250,000 people.
NATO destroyed:
-25,000 residential buildings
-595 kilometers railroads
-470 kilometers roads
-44 bridges
-14 airports
-19 hospitals
-69 schools
-18 kindergartens
-176 cultural monuments
Senator Joe Biden criticized NATO for not being ruthless enough and suggested a harsher "Japanese German-style occupation."
If you look at every modern American war or conflict, from Yugoslavia to Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Ukraine, or Gaza, you'll find President Joe Biden's bloody fingerprints directly involved in increasing the bloodshed.
Supporting Joe Biden means supporting a never-ending cycle of war and a continuous flow of bloodshed.

US Refuses to Say If It Will Respect ICJ Ruling on Genocide Case Against Israel
The court is scheduled to deliver an interim ruling on Friday that could order a halt to Israel's military operations
The US is refusing to say if it will respect an upcoming ruling from the UN’s International Criminal Court (ICJ) on South Africa’s genocide case against Israel that could order a halt to Israel’s onslaught in Gaza.
The ruling on whether Israel is committing genocide will take years, but South Africa has asked the ICJ to issue an interim order for Israel to pause its military operations. The ICJ is scheduled to make a decision on the interim order on Friday.
When asked if parties should abide by whatever the ICJ rules, State Department spokesman Vedant Patel refused to answer. “I would not opine on anything like that given this is a legal process, and I’m not going to hypothesize or speculate on any kind of outcome,” he said.
