❗️Majority of Palestinians oppose Hamas disarmament, skeptical of Trump 'peace' plan
A large majority of Palestinians oppose the disarmament of Hamas and remain highly skeptical that US President Donald Trump’s 'peace' plan will bring a lasting end to Israel’s genocide against Gaza.
According to a poll by the Palestinian Centre for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR) conducted from 22–25 October and released on Tuesday, about 70% of Palestinians across the occupied West Bank and Gaza strongly reject the idea of Hamas giving up its weapons, even if it risks renewed Israeli attacks.
Opposition is highest in the West Bank, where roughly 80% of respondents want Hamas’s armed wing to retain its arsenal.
In Gaza, a narrower majority of 55% opposed Hamas’s disarmament.
The poll also revealed that 62% of Palestinians do not believe Trump's plan will successfully end the war “once and for all.” Skepticism is greater in the occupied West Bank, where 67% of respondents expressed doubt, compared with 54% in Gaza.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on 30 October for the country’s army to “confront any Israeli incursion,” coinciding with new Israeli airstrikes and coming hours after a deadly ground incursion in south Lebanon.
According to a statement by the Lebanese Presidency, Aoun asked army chief Rudolphe Haikal to “have the Lebanese Army confront any Israeli incursion into the liberated southern territories, in defense of Lebanese land and the safety of citizens.”
“General Haikal informed the President of the Republic about the details of the Israeli incursion that took place in the town of Blida and the martyrdom of a municipal worker, Ibrahim Salameh, who was killed while performing his professional duties. President Aoun considered that this attack, which falls within the framework of ongoing Israeli aggressive practices, came shortly after the meeting of the committee monitoring the implementation of the cessation of hostilities agreement (the Mechanism),” the statement added.

Elderly Palestinians used as human shields by Israeli soldiers, then executed, in Gaza

A photograph, reportedly taken by an Israeli soldier, has helped confirm disturbing reports that Palestinians are systematically being used by Israel as human shields in Gaza.
The image, shared by the "Israel Genocide Tracker" on X, shows two elderly men, later identified as Ali and Nadi Marouf, bound and stripped to their underwear and forced into a building destroyed by Israeli bombing and artillery fire.
“Materials submitted by soldiers’ friends confess that troops used kidnapped Palestinians, mostly elderly, as human shields on a daily basis,” the account wrote.
“When injured or exhausted, the victims were instructed to walk into designated killing zones to be gunned down by other units.”
Organizers behind the “Israel Genocide Tracker” have since identified those involved and filed a case with the Hind Rajab Foundation against the Kfir Shimshon Battalion for kidnapping Palestinians including Ali and Nadi Marouf, and another elderly man using a crutch, forcing them to serve as human shields, and then executing them in northern Gaza between September and December 2024.

A photograph, reportedly taken by an Israeli soldier, has helped confirm disturbing reports that Palestinians are systematically being used by Israel as human shields in Gaza.
The image, shared by the "Israel Genocide Tracker" on X, shows two elderly men, later identified as Ali and Nadi Marouf, bound and stripped to their underwear and forced into a building destroyed by Israeli bombing and artillery fire.
“Materials submitted by soldiers’ friends confess that troops used kidnapped Palestinians, mostly elderly, as human shields on a daily basis,” the account wrote.
“When injured or exhausted, the victims were instructed to walk into designated killing zones to be gunned down by other units.”
Organizers behind the “Israel Genocide Tracker” have since identified those involved and filed a case with the Hind Rajab Foundation against the Kfir Shimshon Battalion for kidnapping Palestinians including Ali and Nadi Marouf, and another elderly man using a crutch, forcing them to serve as human shields, and then executing them in northern Gaza between September and December 2024.

UN special rapporteur for the occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese told the General Assembly that more than 60 countries are complicit in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
Presenting her report Gaza Genocide: A Collective Crime from South Africa on 28 October, Albanese said those states have “fueled Israel’s genocidal machinery” by arming, funding, and shielding Tel Aviv as Gaza’s population is “bombed, starved, and erased.”
She identified the US as the core of Israel’s war economy, responsible for two-thirds of its arms imports and repeated Security Council vetoes protecting Tel Aviv from accountability. Germany, Britain, and other European states were cited for continuing arms sales “even as evidence of genocide mounted.”
Albanese condemned the EU for sanctioning Russia while remaining Israel’s top trading partner, and criticized Arab states that normalized ties with Tel Aviv as Gaza burned. She singled out Egypt for maintaining energy cooperation and closing the Rafah crossing, Gaza’s last humanitarian lifeline.
Her remarks provoked an outburst from Israeli envoy Danny Danon, who called her a “wicked witch.” Albanese replied, “If the worst thing you can accuse me of is witchcraft, I’ll take it. But if I had the power to make spells, I would use it to stop your crimes once and for all.”

The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has handed over a list to Washington’s coalition in Syria, containing the names of commanders that will be integrated into Damascus’s forces as part of a deal signed in March this year, Kurdish media reported on 29 October.
“The list includes the names of about 70 [SDF] leaders who participated in the war against the ISIS,” multiple sources told North Press Agency (NPA).
The list “includes the names of the commanders of three military divisions that will be integrated into the Syrian army – one division in the Syrian Jazeera region, another in the Euphrates region, and the third in Deir Ezzor,” the sources said.
According to the report, 30 percent of General Staff positions are expected to go to SDF commanders.
It adds that the list includes the names of commanders who will lead three “special brigades” affiliated with the Syrian General Staff.

Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat announced on 30 October that the long-planned Turkiye–Syria transit corridor will become fully operational next year, allowing Turkish trucks to reach Jordan and Gulf states by road once remaining customs, visa, and infrastructure issues in Syria are resolved.
Bolat said the corridor, based on a deal signed in June between the transport ministers of Turkiye and Syria, had generated “excitement in Jordan.” He described it as “key in trade and transportation,” linking Turkiye and Europe to the Arab markets through Syrian and Jordanian territory.
“As soon as we revitalize these areas with roads and railways, trade and prosperity will rapidly increase,” Bolat noted, emphasizing that improved connectivity will strengthen regional commerce and integration.
Bolat announced that the first round of meetings for the Turkiye–Jordan Joint Economic Commission had concluded with the signing of a memorandum covering cooperation in trade, industry, agriculture, services, tourism, and culture.
“The agreement we signed today puts a roadmap on paper for the future agreements, activities, and programs we will carry out,” he said.

The Times of Israel reports that Israel-backed anti-Hamas militias inside Israeli-controlled zones of Gaza, led by figures like Hossam al-Astal, are pushing to shape “New Gaza,” arguing they can secure areas and work with local professionals.
But the Trump plan for Gaza’s “day after” allegedly excludes armed groups, instead proposing a technocratic, apolitical committee under international oversight. Even some US officials have avoided embracing the “New Gaza” framing, and the PA publicly distances itself from militia ties.
Local voices quoted by the Times of Israel say the militias lack broad public backing and governing capacity, while Hamas, rejecting disarmament, seeks to reassert influence and even shape the technocratic slate from behind the scenes. With the Yellow Line ceasefire boundary limiting movement and no Palestinian consensus on governance, the report portrays a fragmented landscape: militias seeking relevance, Hamas unyielding on arms, and a US-backed plan betting on technocrats over gunmen.
