❗️Saudi Arabia, US in talks over defense pact similar to recent US-Qatar agreement
Saudi Arabia is in talks with the Trump administration over a potential defense agreement modeled after last month’s US-Qatar pact.
The kingdom aims to finalize the deal during Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman’s expected visit to the White House next month, with sources to FT describing the potential agreement as “robust” and likely to include expanded military and intelligence cooperation.
Asked about the possible pact, a senior Trump administration official said, “There are discussions about signing something when the crown prince comes, but the details are in flux.”
The State Department noted that US defense cooperation with Saudi Arabia remains “a strong bedrock of our regional strategy.” It added that Washington is “committed to security of the region and will continue to work with Saudi Arabia to resolve conflicts, promote regional integration, and deny safe haven to terrorists.”

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Video and documents obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators show what an Israeli government official allegedly said to an FBI decoy that led to his arrest in a Las Vegas sex sting.
Tom Alexandrovich, 38, posted $10,000 bail at the Henderson Detention Center on Aug. 7 and left the country. In October, a grand jury voted to indict Alexandrovich on a charge of luring children or mentally ill persons with the use of technology with the intent to engage in sexual conduct.
Alexandrovich is an Israeli government official who was in Las Vegas for a cybersecurity event, the 8 News Now Investigators confirmed after his arrest.
On Wednesday, Aug. 6, Alexandrovich allegedly chatted online with the FBI decoy posing as a 15-year-old girl about meeting for “sexual contact,” the 8 News Now Investigators first reported, citing court documents.
The conversation began on Pure, an application that describes itself as the “best dating app for open-minded people,” according to documents. The app requires users to be 18 and older.
Alexandrovich, who identified himself in the chat as “Alex,” and the decoy then moved the conversation to WhatsApp, documents said.
During the chat, the decoy, who was actually an FBI agent, repeatedly said she was with her “dad” and that she was underage, documents said.
“I’m only 15,” the decoy said at one point, according to grand jury transcripts.
“I’m not allowed in over [sic] since I’m only 15,” she said at another time in the conversation....

A Saudi diplomat speaking with Hebrew media has accused Hamas of destroying Gaza and causing a catastrophe ‘worse than the Nakba’
Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Bahrain are warning that the Gaza ceasefire is at risk of collapsing if Hamas continues to refuse disarmament, according to diplomatic sources cited by Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom on 16 October.
Riyadh has even threatened to halt participation in the ceasefire process – including reconstruction – unless the disarmament is enforced, the report claimed.
The Gulf states are frustrated with the Qatari, Turkish, and Egyptian mediators’ “leniency” on the issue of Hamas’s weapons; Arab and US diplomats told the Israeli newspaper. They reportedly relayed these messages to the White House and to US President Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff and former advisor Jared Kushner.
The report says the three Arab states have complained about “the systematic assassination of rivals from competing clans, armed displays in the streets, extortion of local merchants, and statements by senior officials flatly rejecting the prospect of disarmament.”
Hamas has been cracking down on armed gangs and militias that cooperated with Israel during the war in Gaza. These gangs include elements from Gaza’s big clans and families – including the Dughmush family.

Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reports that most Israeli operations to rescue its captives in Gaza failed. Only a few missions succeeded, including the rescue of four captives from central Gaza, though one special forces member was killed.
Most of the attempts led to its captives dying, such as Sahar Baruch in December 2023, when Israeli forces were met with prepared resistance.
The newspaper quoted an Israeli army source saying, "There were operations we decided not to carry out, and it later became clear that the decision was correct, as at the time we did not know that Hamas had decided to kill the captives if the forces approached them."

⭕️ Oil prices dip, set for nearly 3% weekly loss amid IEA glut forecast
Oil prices slipped on Friday, on track for a nearly 3% weekly decline, after the IEA predicted a growing supply glut and US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to meet again to discuss Ukraine.
Brent crude futures fell 15 cents, or 0.25%, to $60.91 a barrel at 11:40 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate futures were down 8 cents, or 0.14%, at $57.38.
"Now that the two leaders are expected to meet, it could be a sign that the US's stance on Russia may ease. If so, that should push prices lower," said Tamas Varga, analyst at PVM.

US President Donald Trump believed “the Israelis were getting a little bit out of control” following Israel’s failed 9 September strike targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, his son-in-law and senior advisor Jared Kushner said in remarks aired Friday.
The comment was made during a joint interview with US special envoy Steve Witkoff on CBS’s 60 Minutes, set to air on Sunday.
“It had a metastasizing effect because the Qataris were critical to the negotiation, as were the Egyptians and the Turks,” Witkoff said. “We had lost the confidence of the Qataris. And so Hamas went underground, and it was very, very difficult to get to them.”
Kushner said that the incident made Trump conclude “that it was time to be very strong and stop them from doing things that he felt were not in their long-term interests.”

Last Week: Israeli Airstrikes Devastate South Lebanon’s Power Grid, Destroy Reconstruction Equipment
The Lebanese power company says the strikes demolished key transmission lines, plunging several cities into darkness
Israeli warplanes carried out a series of intense airstrikes along Musaylih Road in southern Lebanon overnight on 11 October, cutting off the main route and plunging large parts of the south into darkness after severing key power lines.
At least 10 strikes hit six excavation and bulldozer depots, destroying more than 300 engineering vehicles and heavy machines, and leaving one person dead and seven wounded.
Electricité du Liban (EDL), Lebanon’s main electricity provider, said the strikes caused severe damage to the national grid. A 66 kV tower was completely destroyed, cutting the Zahrani-Musaylih line and disrupting power to the main 66 kV substations in Sidon and Siblin.
The unprovoked attack also severed the primary 220 kV Zahrani–Tyre transmission line, forcing the shutdown of several substations across southern Lebanon, including Tyre and Wadi Jilou.
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri condemned the Israeli strike, calling it a “blatant act of aggression in both form and substance.”

The Lebanese power company says the strikes demolished key transmission lines, plunging several cities into darkness
Israeli warplanes carried out a series of intense airstrikes along Musaylih Road in southern Lebanon overnight on 11 October, cutting off the main route and plunging large parts of the south into darkness after severing key power lines.
At least 10 strikes hit six excavation and bulldozer depots, destroying more than 300 engineering vehicles and heavy machines, and leaving one person dead and seven wounded.
Electricité du Liban (EDL), Lebanon’s main electricity provider, said the strikes caused severe damage to the national grid. A 66 kV tower was completely destroyed, cutting the Zahrani-Musaylih line and disrupting power to the main 66 kV substations in Sidon and Siblin.
The unprovoked attack also severed the primary 220 kV Zahrani–Tyre transmission line, forcing the shutdown of several substations across southern Lebanon, including Tyre and Wadi Jilou.
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri condemned the Israeli strike, calling it a “blatant act of aggression in both form and substance.”

Private equity investor tycoon and former Apollo Global Management CEO Leon Black was the “primary source” of convicted pedophile and suspected Mossad asset Jeffrey Epstein’s income.
That’s according to excerpts from back-and-forth emails between the two men from 2015-2016 reviewed by NYT, which revealed that Black had been paying Epstein $40M a year for tax and estate-planning services (despite Epstein having no training in either).
When Black threatened to turn off the money faucet in 2016, Epstein called Black’s children “retarded” for making a “mess” of his estate, and attacked a Black advisor as a “waste of money and space.”
The bullying tactics apparently worked, with Black continuing to compensate Epstein for his ‘investment advice’, and give him loans.
But the advice included more than that, with Black reportedly asking Epstein for guidance after a former girlfriend accused him of sexual assault, and the incident hushed up by multi-million-dollar hush money payments.
Besides Epstein himself, Black also paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to three women associated with the financier, according to court documents.
What makes Black special? His connection to Trump son-in-law turned Middle East peace expert Jared Kushner, who got a $184M bailout from Black on his 666 Fifth Avenue building in 2017.

GrapheneOS, the open-source Android project centered on privacy and security, is preparing a significant move beyond Google’s Pixel lineup.
After years of exclusivity on Pixel phones, the team has confirmed that it is partnering with a major Android manufacturer to bring its hardened operating system to future flagship devices.
For most of its existence, GrapheneOS has been tied to Pixel hardware, making Google’s hardware the default option for those who value data protection and minimal surveillance.
That niche user base has ranged from journalists and privacy professionals to everyday users who want to get away from Big Tech.
This close relationship with Pixel devices may soon change, with the project hinting that support for other brands could arrive by 2026 or 2027.
On Reddit, GrapheneOS developers revealed that they have been working with a “major Android OEM” since June 2025 to establish official compatibility for “future versions of their existing models.”
These devices are expected to run on high-end Snapdragon chipsets instead of Google’s in-house Tensor processors.
The team explained that Pixel devices were, until now, the only phones meeting its demanding standards for verified boot, regular security updates, and hardware-level protections.
The new partnership suggests that another manufacturer has finally reached a comparable level of quality. GrapheneOS also indicated that the partner’s devices will likely be “priced similarly to Pixels” and distributed globally through the company’s standard retail channels.
The developers did not identify which company they are collaborating with.
This announcement follows the project’s public criticism of Google’s extended patch delivery schedule.
GrapheneOS has argued that Google’s process leaves users exposed to known vulnerabilities for months. Working with a company that provides faster access to security patches could help the project maintain its privacy guarantees without depending on Google’s infrastructure.
For existing Pixel users, the situation remains unchanged. GrapheneOS will continue supporting all current Pixel models through their expected lifespans.
