⭕️ Israeli army operates 'Legitimization Cell' to shape Gaza media narrative

The Israeli army is using a specialized unit known as the “Legitimization Cell" to collect intelligence from Gaza and enhance Israel’s public image.

Formed after 7 October, the unit focuses on gathering intel about Hamas’s alleged use of schools and hospitals for military purposes. It also identifies Gaza-based journalists who could be depicted as undercover Hamas operatives, in an effort to counter mounting global criticism over Israel’s killing of reporters, the most recent being Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif, killed in an Israeli airstrike this past week.

The Legitimization Cell’s members are reportedly intent on finding journalists they could associate with Hamas and mark as potential targets.

❗️ Japan's defense minister visits Turkiye

Gen Nakatani became the first Japanese defense minister to pay an official visit to Turkiye. He will meet with officials today to discuss defense industry cooperation, including the potential purchase of Turkish-made drones.

Gen and Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler will "discuss ways to expand cooperation on defense equipment and technology and exchange views on regional developments." The talks will also focus on boosting interaction between the Turkish Armed Forces and Japan’s Self-Defense Forces at the unit level.

Gen is also expected to visit Istanbul on Wednesday.

Iran, Armenia Sign 10 Cooperation Deals During Pezeshkian Visit

Armenia gave assurances to Iran over its ‘red lines’ relating to the Zangezur Corridor project

Iran and Armenia signed multiple cooperation agreements on 19 August, during Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Yerevan.

“An MoU was signed between the Ministry of Economy and Iran’s National Standards Organization on cooperation in standardization, accreditation, conformity assessment, and other areas. The countries also signed memorandums of cooperation in the fields of tourism, vocational education and training, urban development and construction, pharmaceuticals, culture and cinema,” according to Armenpress.

The two countries also agreed “to strengthen cooperation on transport and transit infrastructure, while addressing disputes over tariff imbalances,” Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported.

A total of 10 cooperation agreements were signed between the two countries.

In a statement, Pezeshkian said he called on Armenia to address concerns over foreign forces near their shared border.

⭕ Iraqi officials have begun excavating the Al-Khasfa mass grave south of Mosul, launching the first phase on Sunday, according to the state-run Iraqi News Agency.

Ninevah governor Abdul Qadir al-Dakhil said ISIS and other extremist groups killed about 20,000 people during their occupation from 2014 to 2017, describing the site as “a crime that shocks the mind and conscience.”

Estimates put the number of victims in Al-Khasfa at around 3,000, with a lawyer telling the Associated Press that roughly 70 percent of the remains are believed to belong to Iraqi army and police personnel, alongside Yazidis.

Human Rights Watch has noted that Iraq has one of the world’s highest numbers of missing persons, between 250,000 and 1 million, many buried in mass graves across the country.

Israeli Military To Call Up 60,000 Reservists As It Prepares For Gaza City Ethnic Cleansing Campaign

Under the plan, the IDF will forcibly evacuate over 1 million civilians from the city, then spend over a year destroying it

About 60,000 Israeli reservists will receive call-up orders that the Israeli military will issue tomorrow as it’s preparing for a major offensive on Gaza City, The Times of Israel reported on Tuesday .

The report said that reservists will have two weeks before they need to report for duty and that not all of them will take part in the offensive on Gaza City since some will replace IDF troops deployed in other areas of Gaza.

The Israeli military’s plans to take over Gaza City involve the ethnic cleansing of over 1 million Palestinian civilians from the area. Since civilians are expected to remain in the city after evacuation orders, the IDF is prepared to use artillery strikes as its means of forcibly moving them, according to Haaretz .

While the IDF hasn’t yet launched its ground offensive, it has ramped up strikes on Gaza City in recent weeks with a focus on the eastern Zeitoun neighborhood. Thousands of Palestinians have already fled the area, and an investigation from Al Jazeera found that many of the Israeli attacks were hitting displacement shelters.

Once the city is taken over, the IDF plans to spend more than a year destroying it, similar to how it made the northern cities of Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, and Jabalia uninhabitable. The IDF will demolish homes in Gaza City under the guise of “dismantling Hamas infrastructure,” but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has previously told a Knesset committee that the IDF’s destruction of homes would force Palestinians to leave Gaza altogether.

Trump Administration Deploys Three US Navy Destroyers And 4,000 Troops Near Venezuela

The US appears to be moving toward another regime change effort against Maduro over unsubstantiated claims that he's a leader of a cartel

The US is deploying three Navy destroyers off the coast of Venezuela in a move aimed at pressuring President Nicolas Maduro, signaling what appears to be another push for regime change.

One US official told Reuters that a total of 4,000 US sailors and Marines are expected to be committed to the Trump administration’s efforts in the southern Caribbean region.

US officials say the deployment is an effort to “combat threats from Latin American drug cartels,” as the US has made the unsubstantiated claim that Maduro is the leader of a cartel. The accusation goes back to the first Trump administration, when then-Attorney General Bill Barr indicted the Venezuelan leader over claims of “narco-terrorism.” The claim was made over alleged cocaine trafficking, even though data showed at the time that the vast majority of cocaine coming into the US went through the Eastern Pacific, rather than Venezuela’s Caribbean waters.

White House Press Secretary Karolin Leavitt was asked on Tuesday about the deployments near Venezuela and if the US was considering putting “boots on the ground” in the country.

Leavitt replied, “President Trump has been very clear and consistent; he is prepared to use every element of American power to stop drugs from flooding into our country, and to bring those responsible to justice. The Maduro regime is not the legitimate government of Venezuela. It is a narco-terror cartel, and Maduro, it is the view of this administration, is not a legitimate president. He is a fugitive head of this cartel, he has been indicted in the United States for trafficking drugs into the country.”
