Israeli Forces Kill 112 Palestinians In Gaza Over 24 Hours | Jul 1, 2025

At least 16 were reported killed while seeking aid

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Tuesday that Israeli forces killed 112 Palestinians and wounded 463 over the previous 24-hour period as relentless US-backed Israeli strikes continued to pound targets across the Strip.

The Health Ministry said that the bodies of four other Palestinians killed in previous Israeli attacks were recovered. “There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the streets, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them,” the ministry wrote on Telegram.

Hospital sources told Al Jazeera that at least 16 Palestinians were killed on Tuesday while attempting to get aid. The Health Ministry said that since the US and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began operating at the end of May, more than 600 aid seekers have been killed.

The Israeli military admitted on Monday that its forces had killed some civilians near GHF aid sites but disputed the Health Ministry’s numbers, claiming they’re an exaggeration. The admission came after an investigation by Haaretz revealed that IDF troops had been given orders to fire on unarmed Palestinians attempting to reach GHF distribution sites to drive them away or disperse them, even though they posed no threat.

Despite the attention on the aid massacres, the killings continue. Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling also pounded targets across Gaza on Tuesday, including in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, where at least 10 people were killed in the bombing of a house.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said the Trump administration is exploring prosecuting CNN for reporting on an app that alerts users to nearby ICE agents.

WASHINGTON ― President Donald Trump and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the Trump administration is exploring prosecuting CNN for reporting on an iPhone app that alerts users to Immigrant and Customs Enforcement agents in their area.

"We're working with the Department of Justice to see if we can prosecute them for that because what they're doing is actively encouraging people to avoid law enforcement, operations," Noem told reporters alongside Trump on July 1 as they toured a new detention center in the Florida Everglades known as "Alligator Alcatraz."

The threat followed a CNN report detailing a phone app called ICEBlock that its creator, Joshua Aaron, said is designed to be an “early warning system” for users when ICE is operating nearby. The app currently has about 20,000 users, many who live in Los Angeles, the nation's second most populous city and one of the hotbeds of Trump's mass deportations of immigrants in the country illegally.

The White House has accused CNN of promoting an app that encourages violence against law enforcement officials.

The head of China's central bank pledged to expand the international use of the digital yuan and called for the development of a multi-polar global currency system, where several currencies dominate the world economy.

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have developed a method that uses AI to turn WiFi routers into devices capable of detecting and tracking human movements in a room, even through walls. This technology leverages the radio signals emitted by WiFi routers to create a detailed image of people’s movements and poses, without the need for cameras or expensive LiDAR hardware.

The process involves training a deep neural network to map WiFi signals’ phase and amplitude to coordinates on human bodies.
This allows the system to detect 3D shapes and movements of human bodies through walls, making it a potential alternative to traditional cameras in certain scenarios. The technology offers advantages such as consistent performance in poor lighting conditions, privacy protection, and lower cost compared to camera equipment.

How a 30-year-old technology – WiFi – will turn into our next big privacy problem

WiFi can be traced back to 1991, but it was in the late 1990s that the technology began to be taken up by the general public. Its success back then was by no means guaranteed. Although largely forgotten now, there was a rival approach called Home RF, which only gave up the fight in 2003 when it became clear that WiFi would become the standard for wireless local area networks (WLANs).

Since then, WiFi has become an increasingly important part of modern life, with hotels, restaurants and many other venues providing it for free as an expected part of their services. Over the years, the technology has improved, mostly in terms of speed and range. But there is a new iteration of the WiFi standard being developed that will have massive implications for privacy and surveillance. It goes by the unmemorable name of 802.11bf. Here’s how the IEEE, the organization that is drawing up the new standard, describes it:

"IEEE 802.11bf will enable stations to inform other stations of their WLAN sensing capabilities and request and set up transmissions that allow for WLAN sensing measurements to be performed, among other features. WLAN sensing makes use of received WLAN signals to detect features of an intended target in a given environment. The technology can measure range, velocity, and angular information; detect motion, presence, or proximity; detect objects, people, and animals; and be used in rooms, houses, cars, and enterprise environments."

The idea is simple. Radio waves are emitted from WiFi units that support the new 802.11bf, but not only to transfer data, as today. Instead, details of how those waves bounce off objects in their vicinity are gathered and analyzed to detect key features. Different uses are made possible by the availability of license-exempt frequency bands between 1 GHz and 7.125 GHz, and also above 45 GHz. The former will allow relatively large-scale motions to be detected – people or animals moving around, for example – and have the useful ability to pass through obstacles such as walls. The high frequencies, on the other hand, will have a shorter range, but be more precise: as well as gestures, it will be possible to track finer movements on a keyboard, for example. The two might be used in tandem, with the lower frequencies deployed to guide the tighter radio beam used with the higher frequencies.

Israeli Forces Kill 139 Palestinians In Gaza Over 24 Hours | Jul 2, 2025

Palestinians continue to be killed while waiting for aid

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Wednesday that Israeli forces killed at least 139 Palestinians and wounded 487 over the previous 24-hour period, as US-backed Israeli strikes have ramped up across the Strip and the IDF continues to kill people seeking aid.

The Health Ministry said that the bodies of three people killed by previous Israeli attacks were also recovered from the rubble. “There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the streets, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them,” the ministry wrote on Telegram.

Al Jazeera reported that at least 11 Palestinians were killed on Wednesday while waiting for aid. The Health Ministry said that a total of 39 aid seekers were killed over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while attempting to get food since the US and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) began operating at the end of May to 640.

Israeli media has confirmed that Israeli troops have been ordered to fire on unarmed Palestinians, and the IDF has admitted to killing civilians near aid sites, though it disputes the Health Ministry’s numbers. Despite the revelations, the aid massacres haven’t impacted US support for Israel, and the Trump administration is also now funding the GHF.

Israeli strikes on Wednesday included the bombing of a building sheltering displaced Palestinians in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City, killing 17 people. An airstrike in a different part of Gaza City killed Dr. Marwan al-Sultan , the director of the Indonesian Hospital, along with several of his family members.
