⭕️ Germany to keep arming Israel despite Gaza criticism and settlement concerns

At a joint press conference in Berlin with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul voiced criticism of Israel's conduct in the Gaza Strip.

"That is also the prevailing international law," he said.

Wadephul also condemned the Israel's decision to authorize 22 additional settlements in the occupied West Bank, warning that the move further jeopardizes the viability of a two-state solution.

He stated that the European Union should continue to uphold its political and economic agreement with Israel, which was put under review last month due to developments in Gaza.

Wadephul also affirmed that Germany would maintain its arms shipments to Israel, emphasizing the country's right to self-defense.

Europe Doubles Weapons Purchases From Israel Despite Growing Calls To End Gaza Genocide

Israel's defense industry has increased its profits in recent years, selling weapons to European countries supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia

Israel's defense industry reached a new milestone in 2024, with annual arms exports surging to a record $14.8 billion, marking the fourth consecutive year of growth, even as calls for boycotts over the war in Gaza intensified across Europe.

According to figures released on 5 June by Israel's Defense Ministry, arms exports rose 13 percent compared to 2023, driven largely by European countries increasing defense budgets in response to Russia's war in Ukraine. Defense exports now account for nearly 10 percent of all Israeli exports and nearly a quarter of goods exports.

Despite growing political opposition to Israeli military actions in Gaza, 54 percent of all Israeli defense exports in 2024 were sold to European countries, up sharply from 35 percent the previous year. Sales to Europe totaled $8 billion, nearly doubling from 2023, as European governments rushed to bolster air defense and missile systems amid concerns about a future war with Russia.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz praised the export boom as “a direct result of the successes of the IDF and the defense industries against Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis [Ansarallah] in Yemen, the Ayatollah regime in Iran, and in other arenas.”

“The world sees Israeli strength and seeks to be a partner to it,” he claimed.

The resolution is non-binding but seeks to exploit the recent violence in Boulder, CO for political purposes

Colorado GOP Congressman Gabe Evans introduced a non-binding resolution on Friday that labels ‘Free Palestine’ as “an antisemitic slogan.” The bill seeks to limit immigration of people who oppose Israel’s illegal occupation of Palestine and Tel Aviv’s genocidal onslaught in the besieged Gaza Strip. The bill is expected to be voted on some time next week .

The bill reads , “Whereas, while shouting ‘Free Palestine,’ an antisemitic slogan that calls for the destruction of the state of Israel and Jewish people, Mohammed Sabry Soliman attacked the peaceful demonstrators with homemade Molotov cocktails.”

The term “Free Palestine” refers to the desire to end the nearly 60 -years-long brutal Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, illegal per international law . It also implies support for ending Israel’s apartheid regime , replacing it with either a two-state solution or a single state with equal rights, including the right to vote, for all citizens currently living under the rule of the Israeli government...

Hamas has repeatedly offered to release all hostages in exchange for a permanent ceasefire and an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza including the end to the blockade on the Strip which has pushed the population closer to full-scale famine amidst constant bombardment. Both Tel Aviv and Washington strongly oppose a ceasefire despite the fact that it is the only way to secure the hostages’ release and safety. Ross Ulbricht Got A $31 Million Donation From A Dark Web Dealer, Crypto Tracers Suspect

Crypto-tracing firm Chainalysis says the mysterious 300-bitcoin donation to the pardoned Silk Road creator appears to have come from someone associated with a different defunct black market: AlphaBay.

When Ross Ulbricht received a $31 million bitcoin donation last weekend from an unknown source, many observers saw it as more than a very nice welcome-home gift. Rumors swirled that the creator of the Silk Road, less than five months after receiving a pardon from Donald Trump that saved him from a lifetime in prison, was sending himself a trove of his stashed criminal proceeds from his days running the dark web's first black market more than a decade prior.

Now cryptocurrency tracing investigators say they've arrived at a stranger explanation: The money wasn't originally Ulbricht's, and didn't come from the Silk Road. Instead, they suspect it came from a different long-defunct dark-web black market: AlphaBay .

The crypto tracing firm Chainalysis tells WIRED that, based on blockchain analysis, it has tied the origin of the 300 bitcoins sent to Ulbricht on Sunday to someone involved in AlphaBay, a dark web market that sold a wide variety of drugs and cybercriminal contraband from 2014 to 2017 and eventually grew to be 10 times the size of the Silk Road, according to the FBI.

Chainalysis says the funds appear to have emerged from AlphaBay around 2016 and 2017. Given the amount of the donation, Chainalysis suggests it might have come from someone who acted as a large-scale seller on the market. “We have reasonable grounds to suspect that these funds originated in AlphaBay,” says Phil Larratt, Chainalysis's director of investigations and a former official at the UK's National Crime Agency. “Looking at the amount, that would suggest they came from someone who was possibly a vendor on AlphaBay back in the early days.”...

Prior to Chainalysis’ finding that the $31 million donation appears to have originated at AlphaBay, the independent crypto-tracing investigator known as ZachXBT had already posted to his account on X his own findings that the money didn't appear to have come from the Silk Road. ZachXBT found that, despite the donor's use of multiple Bitcoin “mixers” that take in users' coins and return others to obfuscate their trail on the blockchain, he was able to trace the funds to an address that had been flagged in Chainalysis’ software tool Reactor as tied to illicit activity. That analysis suggested that the money was a “legitimate donation but not legitimate funds,” ZachXBT wrote in a text message to WIRED.

ZachXBT also found that the same individual who controlled the funds had traded other cryptocurrency at an exchange in small, distributed quantities rather than in a single sum, suggesting he or she may have been trying to prevent them being seized or flagged—another sign that the money may have come from criminal origins. “Usage of multiple mixers, spreading out CEX deposits, etc,” ZachXBT writes to WIRED, using the term CEX to mean a centralized exchange, “that is done typically if you are trying to avoid getting illicit funds frozen.”...

Exactly why one of AlphaBay's crypto moguls would donate $31 million to Ulbricht, however, remains a mystery. Speculation on social media has ranged from a fellow black marketeer repaying a favor to a more principled gift intended to thank Ulbricht for blazing a trail with his invention of the Silk Road's crypto-enabled anonymous transactions.
